Let's start with the pros. This hotel is basically joined to the JR Kyushu Shinkasen / Kagoshimachuo station which is joined to the AMU Plaza shopping mall and it also has a tram stop right outside the mall (Kagoshima-chuo eki mae tram stop). So in terms of location I think this hotel ticks all the boxes. The lady at the front counter who was checking me was very friendly, however, we both had to use a translator to communicate 😂 . I believe that is it for the pros.
Moving on to the cons. This hotel is starting to show its age (and not in a good way). The room was small, the bathroom is vintage, it felt dewy and it gave me an allergy attack.
The 3 gripes I had:
1) The fix AC near the ceiling was blowing directly onto the bed which was really uncomfortable. I believe this contributed to my allergy flare-up.
2) The bed and the pillow was not very comfortable. I did not sleep well for the couple of nights. Or it could've just been the AC.
3) The hotel didn't offer any bottled waters. I would rather they take away the cheap plastic toothbrush and comb and offer the bottled waters instead.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The value for money is outstanding—everything you get here easily exceeds the price. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very pleasant to stay in, making it a great place to relax after a long day.
The service was exceptional. The staff were always willing to help with anything we needed, no matter what it was, and they were consistently super kind, polite, and welcoming. You can really feel that they care about the guests.
The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it very easy to get anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently.
Overall, a fantastic stay—highly recommended!
Good stay, with clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast has more of western style, less of Japanese food, but the view of Sakurajima can be seen from restaurant. However in the morning, you may be eating under the sunshine, so better to go for breakfast either very early or much later, not when 8 plus as the sun is strong and you may be given a window seat for solo traveller and when the restaurant is packed.
My second stay at Quintessa. This time, it was a last min booking. The room, as with all Jap hotels, is small. Difficult for a clam-shell luggage. But it will be manageable if you packed well. Location is good - near to the airport limousine bus bus-stop, near to eateries, cafe, LOFT, MUJI, DON DONKI etc.
KG2 Minkago Ichikikushikino é o lugar perfeito para relaxar após um dia de viagem ou trabalho.
Ao dirigir até a propriedade, você pode usar o estacionamento grátis.
Amazing breakfast , very adorable onsen , excellent location and friendly staff makes this place highly recommended to a tourist looking for comfortable and reasonable price .
I spent three nights and I wish I could spend even longer time there due the comfort and convenience of the property .
Free facial masks is an extra ❤️

Great
SSeng Hock ChangRichmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel.
They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient.
It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking.
Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.
GGuest UserHotel location is convenient. There is a bus stop outside the door.
If not by car. The hotel also offers pick-up service
Hiking supplies rental in the lobby
There is also a microwave oven available
Delicious breakfast

GGuest UserSplendid sea view from a beautiful, large, bedroom.
2 beds instead of one big. This could have been better to me.
Service is excellent. People are nice, always trying to help, being resourceful on how you may handle your visit of the island. Top notch people.
The real ”could be better” thing to me is, the restaurant that close really early (8.30pm if my memory is good), does server only buffet for 80kY.
The buffet is of quality mixing Japanese, Chinese and Western styles of food. And also comes with nice desserts.
However, having the choice to get only one A la carte dish could be a real plus. I personally do not want to get a full buffet for every and each of my diners.
And if you do not have a car, finding another place to eat may become a challenge. There is nothing around at a walking distance except a supermarket.
The breakfast is definitely qualitative. And if you intend to move early for visiting, the hotel can prepare you a breakfast and a lunch box for no overcharge. Basic but good and appreciated.
To have another plus, they serves a local craft beer made with local cedar trees. Quite a good and interesting one.
GGuest UserThis is probably the hotel with the best view in Ibusuki town. The window faces the sea, there's a swimming pool downstairs, and there are small fireworks on the lawn at night. The onsen (hot spring) is also great—a natural, open-air hot spring, absolutely beautiful. You can soak in the onsen while overlooking the sea, and there's a minibus to Ibusuki station in the evening. There's also a shuttle bus to the best sand bath nearby. The receptionist was very helpful, patiently helping us find directions to Mount Kaimun the next day. I'll definitely come back next time I have the chance.
Aa350ryomaThis hotel's location is super convenient, right in the heart of the Tenmonkan area, with the tram stop directly in front. It's walking distance to the bustling downtown and plenty of restaurants, so exploring and dining out was a breeze. The hotel and rooms felt new and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. The artificial carbonated hot spring in the public bath was fantastic for soothing away travel fatigue. I especially enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor, with amazing views of Sakurajima while savoring dishes made with local ingredients. The staff were also very attentive and polite. Overall, I'd say this is a highly satisfying hotel.
SstephenzbThe hotel lobby is directly accessible from the second floor of JR Chuo Station. The location is excellent, making it convenient for both travel and shopping. Before check-in and after check-out, you can self-store your luggage; just ask the front desk for a card to scan yourself, which is very user-friendly. The front desk staff are available 24 hours and are always warm and friendly. The hotel has two restaurants, one Japanese and one Western. The Western restaurant partners with Pronto on the first floor and offers set meals. The Japanese restaurant is a buffet. Neither restaurant has a huge variety of food, but there's enough to fill you up. The Western option is better for guests in a hurry as it offers takeaway. The only drawback is the lack of a hot spring, making this the only hotel on our Kyushu trip where we couldn't enjoy a bath. However, the front desk provides free bath salts, so you can still have a relaxing soak in your room's bathtub. The bath salts also have a pleasant fragrance, which somewhat made up for it.
GGuest UserEven though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book:
This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options.
The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors.
Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor.
There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
GGuest Usergood hotel, very new. nice location. quiet and spacious. good personnel. thank you for everything.
a beautiful drawing in the room! wow!
but there are things you can improve.
the curtains are short and they allow light in, you need blackout curtains!
for some people tge totel is probably too minimalistic: a minimal welcome kit, an empty lobby where you dont feel comfortable even to talk (because you can break the silence).
a welcome kit is scarce - only one tea bag (not a selection of tea, no coffee bag), (you could add cotton pads, cotton swabs, skincare kit). but they supply you with a bottle of water every day - thank you.
the garment quality that you need to have on when you visit the bath on the 10th floor is not a good quality.
the toilet seat is cool but lots of excessive functions you never use, it makes some noise voluntarily any time, and always when you pass by it. it' s too sophisticated and it consumes too much electricity - wasteful and not eco-frindly.
anyway thank you!
MM10440****When you go, you have to locate banvina coffee, otherwise you may walk to the back door like me, thinking it is closed.
It is definitely this for the convenience of the location, very close to the central station, less than 10 minutes walk.
The cafe downstairs is very sense, and guests can also have a free cup of coffee every day, which is great!
Although the sister received was not very good in English, she was very cute ☺️ to check in and turn on the lights and air conditioning in advance. The merchant is also really generous.
The environment looks quite clean anyway.
I have the opportunity to go to Kagoshima and I will choose this one again.
