This will be the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel and I will say that it's getting old. The resort has five pools that were all hot. The surrounding beach in the area is 20 ft deep and seaweed and you can't enter the water. Also if you can imagine the hotel makes you check out at 10:00 a.m. which screwed up my sleeping pattern for the day of checkout. What hotel makes you check out at 10:00 a.m.? By the way check in time isn't until 4:00. So if you're staying for one day you only get 18 hours of hotel. Some of the rooms are redone and some of the rooms have got the original flooring from when I stay there the first time around 25 years ago. My room had the original flooring. The first room that reception gave me was on the first floor at the absolute end of the resort. The room was run down and the floor looked like it was buckling a little . The second room reception gave me had a foul odor. Food and drinks at this hotel are extremely expensive. I want to say that a margarita is around 13 to 17 US dollars give me a break. Do not order an a la carte breakfast there because they pick it off the buffet and it's going to be cold. I want to say breakfast is 550 pesos a person. Breakfast was fine but nothing special. They don't offer cappuccino or lattes as a courtesy for breakfast. By the way it takes reception around 15 minutes per customer to check you in. I have stayed at this resort a total of four times and I would not go back. The beach is infested with seaweed farther than the eye can see there's no place swimmable by this resort. I would say it was quite disappointing. By the way they have a little market in the resort and a $6 bottle of champagne in Los Angeles cost $53 in their ghastly overpriced market. Very bad value for money. My third room was acceptable. I do have to say I think the rooms are big and the gentleman that checked me on did give me an upgrade to a balcony on the lagoon side so that was something. I paid a round $140 USD a night with tax and really it was a 85 US dollar hotel at best. It doesn't meet Westin standards. There was also an area with a little chip paint in my room but I'm probably being somewhat nitpicky. The light in the room is also not very bright and made it somewhat hard to read.
The location is great. The parking lot is just opposite the hotel. The room is a 2-minute walk from the beach. The beach is wide and there are few tourists. I saw the most beautiful sunrise. The large balcony is surrounded by green plants and is very suitable for sunbathing. It is quieter than other hotels at night. The double shower can take a shower at the same time. The hotel thoughtfully prepared three large bottles of drinking purified water and a woven bag for going out... I like Tulum starting from the hotel.
Great hotel just off the main street and a short 5 minute walk to the beach. Nice rooms, very friendly staff andca great rooftop pool. I can only recommend!
Initially our room was not very nice- damp bed, broken toilet handle, intermittent hot water and generally tired.
However the management did address the issues by moving us to another room. The maids did a lovely job at creating new animals out of the blankets and added flowers on arrival.
Unfortunately the first evening meal was a disaster. One main meal was overcooked and served before starter (which was incorrect) and the 2nd main meal was served incorrectly twice. Finally, the front desk resolved some of the issues but no ‘compensation/ token, for the errors was offered.
The following days were better, the breakfast was good and the staff made an effort to make our stay better.
Although the hotel needs some renovations it was a chill and pleasant stay. Small beach but sunsets were beautiful.
A razão PELA qual EU abaixou a classificação é o serviço Ao cliente.
Cute little hotel with comfi rooms and nicely furnished. Even though the hotel is on a major main road, the rooms are in the backyard so you hardly notice anything of the hustle and bustle outside. The only thing we regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Beautiful hotel!! Spent an amazing week in a villa with my husband and we will never forget it. Our room was leaking a bit with the rain. Overall a wonderful experience. The museum was beautiful and the other location was well worth the drive to visit if you have a car.
A very good hotel, just steps away from the beach. It’s in a prime location! It’s clean and has good service. Highly recommend if you wanna stay in the beach area. The picture I took is from Playa Caracol which is just across the road from the hotel.
A pleasant stay. We received a room upgrade to ocean view which was lovely. Good size spacious rooms and comfortable bed. Amenities at the sister hotel next door were better than ours but because you can access both, this was not an issue. Friendly, helpful staff and good food from the three restaurants we tried. All inclusive drinks in our package were local and not very enjoyable - this would be my only gripe!
We stayed here for 4 nights, and overall our stay was very good. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options. The on-premises restaurants were also good. The rooms are spacious. The pools are lovely, and the beach views are breathtaking. The concierge team was helpful, providing great recommendations for nearby restaurants and sightseeing. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at the spa regarding an appointment issue. We scheduled a massage 1 day in advance for a time that was given to us. When we arrived, there was no record of the appointment, and the time slot had already been given to someone else. The spa also seems to have limited availability for a hotel of this size. What upset us most was how the situation was handled. The receptionist, Amanda, who had made the booking and was also on duty at arrival, didn’t apologize and instead implied that my wife had not made the appointment. We asked if they could trace the call from our room as proof. It was frustrating that such a mistake occurred and that no responsibility was initially taken. We requested to speak with a manager and met with Hector. Unfortunately, he came across as arrogant and difficult to deal with. He stated they would investigate “if the problem was on their side.” When we mentioned the communication difficulties due to limited English, he responded, “You are in Mexico, sir. We are not English, we are Spanish.” Our point was that, at an international hotel spa, basic English communication should be expected. When we asked to record his statement, we were not allowed to do so, and there was some unnecessary sarcasm during the conversation. In the end, we rescheduled the appointment for the following day and Hector offered complimentary hydrotherapy treatments and a later checkout as compensation. We won’t lower our overall rating since aside from this incident, we had a very good stay. However, management should seriously review how spa appointments are handled and how staff—particularly Amanda and Hector—communicate with guests. Having to defend ourselves in this situation left a very negative impression and took away from an otherwise excellent stay.
Here’s a polished review you can use for the Wyndham Hotel Playa del Carmen: ⸻ Wyndham Hotel Playa del Carmen – Honest Review We had a very enjoyable stay at Wyndham Playa del Carmen overall! The customer service was truly amazing — we were even upgraded to a beautiful suite with an oceanfront view, which made a huge difference. The buffet was great with lots of options, and the staff throughout the hotel was consistently friendly and welcoming. However, a few things to note: there are very pushy salespeople around the property who are constantly trying to upsell timeshares and spa packages. It’s understandable, but it did get a little tiring at times. The hotel is directly on the beach, but the beachfront isn’t ideal for swimming since it’s very rocky and shallow. You need to walk about five minutes down to find a spot where you can comfortably swim. The overall vibe of the hotel is a bit outdated and cheesy — definitely a mixed crowd of younger people looking to party and older guests, giving it a bit of a “cruise ship” atmosphere. My husband and I had never done an all-inclusive before, and although we got an amazing deal, it’s probably not something we would repeat at this property. As for dining: • The buffet was solid — lots of choices, decent quality — I’d rate it a 7/10. • The two à la carte restaurants (that required reservations) were subpar, so we honestly preferred the buffet experience. • The sushi swim-up bar was a bit of a letdown; the sushi wasn’t great (but understandable given the location). Our only real disappointment was the hot tub — it was very tiny, difficult to find, far away from everything, and when we finally reached it on our last night, it was lukewarm and not fully functioning. Final thoughts: If you’re looking for a budget-friendly all-inclusive with great staff, decent food, and a nice view — this is a good choice. Just know it’s not super luxurious, and swimming directly in front of the hotel isn’t ideal. It’s located right in the heart of Playa where there are lots of partying going on, if you want that sort of scene. We’re glad we tried it, but we’ll probably explore other options and quieter locations next time.
A great experience at Rancho Encantado which is located right on the lagoon! All the people in the property are so kind and understanding, and at this time we needed this flying in from DR! The food at the restaurant is also so good and worth it! The greenery in the property and the calm and quiet is something we always love and appreciate, and the location is only adding on to the charm of the place.
This hotel is an architectural masterpiece and absolutely stunning. They are also one of the few hotels that didn’t destroy the vital mangroves protecting the lagoon (and it’s beautiful color). Needless to say that the lagoon is an absolute stunner. The service/management, however, is not worthy 5 stars and also not a Michelin key. We were very disappointed. A few things to note before you book this place: - very inconsistent service: for example, we never received a WhatsApp with all the info/tours, only after asking for it again. - very poor planing of tours (we booked a sailing trip … the first day it took them 2 hours of “confirmation” to end up telling us it’s not possible. We then booked for the next day and the tour started about 1 hour late, again, us just “waiting” and wasting our precious holiday time. No “sorry” whatsoever from the hotel. - the tour was supposed to include “sunscreen” (mentioned in PDF flyer). When the guide arrived (a very nice and competent local guide), she told us that sun screen is not available and anyway is heavily damaging the lagoon and should be avoided - feels like something a) the hotel should advocate and b) not sell as part of their tours - waiters service also very inconsistent. Some friendly, some couldn’t even say “hello” - food also very inconsistent (and expensive). Pasta à la mantequilla was a nightmare, while the hamburger was delicious. - on the day of NYE we proactively asked about a table in the restaurant only for the staff to tell us that we can only have dinner there if we buy the NYE menu for 4500 MXN per person ( that’s around 215 EUR pP ). The hotel is very remote (which is why we booked it of course), so the next restaurant is 20 minutes away. They never proactively mentioned this (all they did was inform that there will be a NYe dinner) Overall, too many little things that went wrong to make this stay enjoyable.
This was a lovely hotel. The location was perfect for us because it was on the quieter side of the hotel although not accessible without golf cart or taxi. The breakfast in the morning was great. It has a very small beach but great pool area. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
Nice All-Inclusive hotel directly at the beach, in walking distance to the Cancun tourism center. Good value for money, nice hotel room, good pool, very nice spacious beach area, tasty food in the buffet restaurant, the pizza restaurant and also in the 3rd restaurant. The buffet restaurant is too small for the hotel size but you get used to it. The gym is better than nothing but very small. All in all the hotel is recomendable.
