"An attractive hotel in a former imperial complex (a library or something like that) offering large, clean rooms. It's up on the side of a hill but taxis/rideshare will take you to the front door. Also it's very close to the town center and is a short ride to the temples that are of interest in Chengde. They have a decent breakfast at the onsite restaurant, and a dinner service featuring local dishes that are supposed to be similar to what an emperor might have eaten. So you can dine like an emperor, for a fee. The large deer roaming the grounds stare at your with the big, sad eyes, obviously looking for a handout, but don't fall for it as there's plenty of grass. There was some construction going on, seems the buildings are being refurbished, but it did not really interfere with our stay. Signs in English and English-speaking staff at the front desk."

"The hotel has a great location; there are many bus stops just across the street, making it convenient to go anywhere. It's very close to Erxianju Night Market and the statue of Emperor Kangxi on horseback, and not far from Jinlong Shopping Plaza and Wulie River. They even gave us a 10 RMB voucher for a fast food restaurant, which was very good – clean, hygienic, and offering a wide variety of delicious food. The hotel breakfast also had a good selection of Chinese and Western options. The rooms were clean and hygienic, with a strong water flow and stable temperature in the shower. There's even a robot delivery service. The receptionists were all very friendly and helpful, making the experience pleasant."

"Room was clean and spacious. We requested for smoke-free treatment and the room had no smell of smoke. "Hotel is very centrally located near to commercial area so lots of food options. Hotel staff is very helpful. Hotel is just 15 minutes walk to countty resort scenic area and short ride to the outer temples. The room is very spacious. Our room faces the road and in the daytime it is noisy with traffic and from various announcements and music from shops along the street. But at night it is very quiet. Breakfast buffet spread is good but mainly Chinese food. Will recommend this hotel just be aware of the noise in daytime."

"Nice stay for 1 night in Chengde. Great service, free parking lots, friendly and helpful staff. Room, very clean, bright with a grand view to the river. Bathroom divided in tube/shower, toilet room and make-up space. Breakfast with a great choice of Chinese food. Just a few things related with international breakfast. The hotel is located not directly to many shops and restaurants. We took a taxi to the recommended restaurants and scenic places."

"Stayed over for one night at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel at Chengde. The entrance to the hotel was congested with cars. The parking attendance in front of the hotel wasn't really helpful when my driver dropped us off to check in to the hotel. What he cares was just faster unload and removed the car form that area. He offered no help at all. I was not sure if the parking attendance was employed by the Hilton hotel. If yes then the service was really not up par with the Hilton standard for customer service standard. We carried one large luggages and few smaller bags. We have to carry it over few flights of stairs to get in to the hotel entrance. The sliding path to get into the hotel entrance was not located in front of the hotel entrance but was hidden at the side that was obscured or partially blocked by the parking car at the front. The reception lady was very friendly though. We were given high floor and she scanned my WeChat to easy contact with the hotel later. The hotel room was very spacious and beautiful but the room was stuffy. Only one tiny small window was able to open a little bit to let the outside air go in. The afternoon temperature was as high as 25 degrees Celcius and rather HOT inside the room. We cannot adjust the aircon in the room as it is central setting! Called to the reception to ask why the room air con can't be adjusted and it seems not working but was told it is central setting. Well, you paid a lots to stay at the hotel without proper ventilation but to rely on the outside air to go in the tiny window. Despite the hotel facility was complete but we still cannot really enjoy and sleep comfortably as we felt HOT. The hotel separates the bathroom from toilet. The washing basin was outside of the bathroom. The breakfast was good with lots of variety. After checking out, I realised I might have left my traveller adaptor in the room. Immediately Isent a text to the hotel via WeChat but to my disappointment, it took two days for them to reply my message asking me to self contact the front desk counter to ask yourself?! What kind of service of that??? Asking hotel guest to add them on WeChat but still asking us to self call the front desk? Not all tourists will have local Sim card to make phone call. That is really a disappointment. They should have offered a better service by checking with the front desk counter and then get back to us via WeChat. This Hilton is definitely still a long way to go to achieve better rating. The hotel is closed to q night market that offers lots of street foods. There was one food stall that offer very palatable Chu Cheong fun. The experience was not pleasant for my one night stay."

"New hotel, with spotless facilities and friendly staff. It's very close to the Chengde South Station, which is handy for high speed trains - though is a bus ride or taxi ride away from downtown Chengde and the Mountain Resort area. (Bus 29 takes you down there, but takes a while). Breakfast was good, and there are snacks in reception wheel you come back. The restaurant is only open in the morning - no bar/other facilities, but there are places to eat/shop nearby, though the area feels very new and developing. It was a great choice for me as I came in and out of Chengde South Station and I used the hotel as my base."

"If you’re a foreigner traveling to Chengde, I would totally recommend that you stay at this hotel! The location is great! It’s close to three temples - Puning Temple, Waiba Temple and Putuo Temple. Also, it’s a 15 min walk to the Chengde Museum. By car, it’s about 8 minutes to the Summer Resort (or a 50-minute walk if you like walking 😄). People are friendly and nice at the hotel. They spoke to me in Chinese, but because I speak Chinese. They went above and beyond to make sure I had a lovely stay, helping me with delivery and buying tickets for the Kangxi Ceremony. If I go again, I’ll definitely stay there again. 谢谢！"

During check out the staff help us with our luggage And ran across the street to call us a-taxi very warming gesture. Room is clean and beautifully designed. Located just near chengde railway station. Food and shopping easily accessible."
