My first visit to Piamsan was truly a haven for health and wellness. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, and there's even a Korean sauna. There are so many pools to soak in, and I even tried the local specialties: red and green chili pepper hot springs! 😆 You can also change into Hanbok for free.
The front desk service was excellent, and thank you to Xiao Wang for helping upgrade my room. The room had a direct view of the hot spring area and a balcony.
Looking forward to coming back with family and friends again! 🌈🌈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every year when I return to Tonghua to visit family, I always stay at the Wanfeng Beichen Wuzhou Crown Hotel. The hotel is quiet, spacious, comfortable, and clean. Outside the window, I see rolling mountains, a sea of greenery, and the air is wonderful. The service is also excellent. It would be even better if the king-size rooms had refrigerators.

Changbai Mountain Landscape International Eco-Exchange Center — where “eco-exchange” really means exchanging knee joints for enlightenment 🐕🦺❄️
This old dog picked this place as a first-timer to Changbaishan because on paper it reads like a dream:
✔️ 5-minute walk to the Changbai Mountain VIP entrance
✔️ Hot springs inside the compound
✔️ “Eco-exchange” — which I later learned refers to exchanging comfort for character development
Location? Prime marrow bone. 🦴
Reality, however, is a scenic winter obstacle course.
The hotel is thoughtfully scattered across three separate buildings — one for check-in and breakfast, another for hot springs, and because suspense is important in life, the Food Plaza lives in yet another building.
In winter.
On ice.
With wind that slaps.
Not exactly age-old-dog friendly. I waddled. I shuffled. I negotiated with my knees. At one point I believe my soul lagged behind and had to catch up.
To offset this Arctic triathlon, the staff are available 24/7 on WeChat, responding faster than I can type “why did I choose this hotel?” Efficiency deserves a respectful tail wag. 🐾
Now let’s talk Food Plaza, the hotel’s redemption arc.
The food is genuinely scrumptious, warming, and emotionally supportive after being bullied by Changbai winds. Takeaway is allowed — which means you carry it yourself. Eco-exchange again. This dog fetches his own dinner. 🥸
Then there’s the hot spring schedule.
Opens at 13:30.
When the mountain is closed
and the hot spring is closed
what exactly is an old dog meant to do?
Stare into the snow?
Question life decisions?
Age visibly?
Ah yes — write this review. ✔️
⚠️ Now, the bone that refuses to go down smoothly.
Despite having a relaxed stay, I felt continuously pressed for a 5-star review — on departure day from the first meeting in the lobby to gentle reminders all the way up the bus.
At that point, it stopped feeling like hospitality and started feeling like an exam I didn’t sign up for.
It made me sad, actually — because it suggests staff performance may be chained to guest reviews like sled dogs pulling corporate KPIs.
Trip.com, if you’re listening:
no guest should ever be pressured to review.
The moment reviews are pushed, ratings stop being honest and start being decorative.
This old dog is an independent reviewer.
I don’t bark on command.
I don’t roll over for stars.
And the harder the push, the more my paw hovers over the lowest rating out of pure principle.
Still — despite the ice, the walking, the soul-searching — the location alone makes this a smart base for Changbaishan first-timers.
Just come prepared with:
• good boots
• strong knees
• emotional resilience
• and the confidence to say, “I will rate when I’m ready.”

The Kita-Yuzawa Milione Hotel is truly a benchmark for resorts! Japanese aesthetics are woven into every detail, the rooms are elegant and spotless, and the amenities are high-end and effective. The direct view of the snow-capped mountains is simply stunning. Downstairs, the Gokuraku-yu onsen offers a wonderfully soothing and therapeutic experience, with the refreshing scent of cypress filling the air. The butler service is meticulous and attentive, and the breakfast is exquisite and nutritious. The on-site dining and shopping facilities are comprehensive. It's a one-stop destination for skiing and onsen, offering peace, comfort, and convenience, and a truly luxurious feel!

If it's your first time visiting, don't hesitate to book this place. They'll take care of everything for you, but make sure to contact the hotel in advance – and I mean *definitely* in advance. You can ask your butler for recommendations on local attractions, how to get there, how to buy tickets, and even how to hail a taxi. They also offer free train station pick-up and drop-off to the scenic area entrance, free skiing, and free hot spring access. If you need a car temporarily, they can arrange one for you (at your own expense), so no worries at all. And the hot springs – you *must* go! Their hot springs are natural and located right within the scenic area. Soaking in the hot springs while it's snowing is truly wonderful. If you avoid weekends and holidays, it's not even crowded.

Our first stop in Changbai Mountain was the Wanda JinHua Resort Hotel. The service started even before check-in, with the butler proactively contacting me to provide important information. Upon arrival at Changbai Mountain West Station, there was a complimentary shuttle bus waiting for us.
Check-in was incredibly smooth; we were able to get into our room by 12 PM, and the butler even helped us arrange a late check-out, which was a nice touch.
Although the hotel's decor is a bit dated, it still maintains an overall elegant and sophisticated feel. The mattress was exceptionally comfortable, and from the window of our king-sized room, we had a view of the ski resort outside.
The hotel provided numerous benefits, including skiing, hot springs, and access to the water park. Since Changbai Mountain was closed due to heavy snowfall for a few days, we spent all three days at the Wanda Resort. We used one of our passes for night skiing and another one during the day to take the cable car up General Mountain for sightseeing, where there was even a coffee shop at the summit.
Due to time constraints, we didn't get to visit the hot springs or the water park, but we signed up for a hiking tour recommended by the hotel, which was an amazing experience.
It's worth mentioning that the breakfast at JinHua Hotel was excellent! The coffee was particularly delicious, and they even had fruits and noodle soups that catered to southern palates.
The resort town also boasts many great restaurants. We had some ginseng chicken soup, which was wonderfully warming, and the restaurant owners even offered complimentary rides back to the hotel.
Even though we didn't get to visit Changbai Mountain itself, we had an unforgettable three days at the JinHua Resort Hotel and the Wanda Resort. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit!

Room facilities: Everything was well-appointed, and watching the snowflakes fall from the balcony was incredibly picturesque.
Value for money: This Hilton hotel was the most worthwhile booking of my Changbaishan trip. The package included hot spring and skiing tickets, both of which were very practical and made the entire trip incredibly fulfilling.
Breakfast: There was a good variety of options, more than enough for us women with smaller appetites.
Bed: Very comfortable, just the right firmness.
Restaurant: On the first day, we had Korean BBQ at the hotel. The dishes were exquisite; it didn't look like much, but two of us ate until we were stuffed.
Location and transport: The location is excellent, very close to the entrance of the North Slope scenic area.
Service: What deserves the most praise is the hotel's truly outstanding service. They meticulously arranged transportation for us to every attraction, which was incredibly thoughtful. Every staff member was enthusiastic, helpful, and answered all our questions, making us feel like old friends. They went out of their way to accommodate our requests for a room upgrade and late check-out. Next time I come to Changbaishan, I must stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton again.
The moment you step into this hotel, you feel instantly transported away from the city's hustle and bustle. Located within Beihu National Wetland Park, it's a true vacation oasis.
The architectural aesthetics of the hotel are stunning. It doesn't strive for overt luxury but instead embodies a sense of understated, tranquil Eastern charm throughout. It blends the delicate grace of Jiangnan water towns with the elegant style of classical Ming and Qing architecture. Even in winter, the snow-covered northern landscape outside the windows creates a beautiful contrast with the warm, Zen-like atmosphere inside.
I was particularly impressed by the hotel's expression of culture and art, such as the origami art installation in the lobby, inspired by the Siberian tiger – it's creatively beautiful.
The hotel service maintains Banyan Tree's consistently high quality, but with an added layer of sincerity and warmth unique to Northeast China.
The hotel is quite large, offering 24-hour shuttle service. The best part is that in the frozen winter, you can experience a variety of ice and snow activities.
To put it simply: great decor, spacious rooms, attentive and warm service, plenty of ice and snow activities nearby that kids absolutely love. The breakfast selection is also extensive and very good.

We brought our teenager for a skiing trip during the Christmas holidays, our first time at Changbaishan. We chose Wanda Changbaishan International Resort, and the snow quality here is fine and soft, with wide slopes that are suitable for beginners. The resort is built around the ski trails, making it perfect for an immersive skiing experience. If you're not specifically coming for skiing, you don't necessarily need to stay within the resort itself.
The resort facilities are comprehensive, offering everything from equipment rentals to professional coaches. However, you absolutely must book coaches in advance during the ski season (you can search for the 'Wanda Hotels & Resorts Travel Platform' mini-program on WeChat). We couldn't book a coach on-site for our two-day trip; it was extremely difficult to get a last-minute booking.
On the other side of the ski resort, there's a dining area with a rich selection, from light meals to full dinners, all at reasonable prices for a scenic area. Additionally, the resort has hot springs and an indoor playground, great for relaxing after skiing or for family activities. Since our teenager is older, we skipped these; they're more suited for younger children.
My personal opinion is that all the hotels within the resort are quite similar. Since they all include ski passes, there's no need to choose an expensive one. The hotels in Wanda are all a bit older and not very new. Also, most of your time will be spent skiing, so you won't be in the hotel much. Every hotel is within a 3-5 minute walk to the Wanda ski slopes, so just pick one that's a good price!
Overall, the skiing experience with the kids was very satisfying. The snow quality is excellent, and the services are complete. Just remember to book your coach in advance!

The hotel truly impressed me! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, a staff member escorted me to my room, proactively introducing the hotel's highlights, as well as local attractions and dining options. The room itself was spotlessly clean and tidy. The hotel boasts beautiful surroundings, truly a tranquil haven. It's fully equipped with excellent facilities, including a gym and an infinity pool. The family rooms are particularly popular, and I'll definitely bring my children back for a visit next time!

MM59473****The service was excellent. They offered pick-up from the high-speed rail station and VIP access to scenic areas, making it incredibly convenient and hassle-free during the National Day Golden Week holiday. Highly recommended! It saved us a lot of time and was perfect for families with children. The Northeastern Chinese cuisine at the guesthouse was also delicious, and our whole family was very satisfied. The view from the guesthouse's observation deck was also fantastic, offering panoramic views of Changbai Mountain.
MM468389****Very satisfied with the stay 👍 The room is clean. The children like the 😘 The corridor decoration is particularly beautiful and very careful. The gas was very good at night. It was not cold at all. I ate late in the business street last night. Baidu cars were off work. Then the hotel's engineer, Master Zhao, came to pick us up and sent it to the hotel. I was very touched. Thank you very much. 😊 The child said that he would come back to Songguo Hotel next time. ☺️
AAnnhuiwanThis grand, old-fashioned hotel offers great value for money. All the staff were incredibly welcoming, especially those in the restaurant on the second floor – everyone had a smile on their face. There's a large open field right opposite the hotel, perfect for building snowmen if it snows! This time, I was thrilled to watch fireworks from my room, which was a lovely surprise.
I didn't get to try the hot springs this visit; the outdoor ones apparently only open at 6 PM. Also, the breakfast selection was a bit limited. It would be great if they could add more variety, especially if there are a lot of guests.

AAnonymous UserI highly recommend this hotel. The room was big, hair dryer power was strong n made the hair dry up very fast. They also got laundry detergent for the guest to use too. Their customer service was very good especially for foreigners like us who did not have a Chinese local number. They will assign one person in charge for us. And if we want to play the activity, we just need to inform the PIC. He/she will send U the tickets/ QR code, if face any questions, can also drop message via WeChat. PIC will reply within the shortest time. Under the food district section, there are few nice restaurants. You can ask them to recommend their local food too. You can enjoy using clubmed onsen too. Advice to go earlier if you wish to shower and use their hair dryer.
I would like to compliment our PIC '晚風'. His service is very good. Response to use very quick and he did something that touches our heart. Something happened inside our room and the technician guy had resolved.. We just gave feedback to him and although he is on his off day, he still gets his team to prepare something for us as a compensation. We did not expect this. This really shows he still cares and puts customers in first place even when he is on leave. 👍 For our PIC, '晚風'.
LLiangcha_666888## Ambiance
The environment was excellent, and the room was quite spacious.
## Facilities
Facilities were generally good, but a notable oversight for a hot spring hotel was the absence of a drying rack for swimsuits. After a dip and washing your swimwear, there was nowhere convenient to hang it to dry.
## Cleanliness
Very good.
## Service
A significant point of frustration arose with the hot spring policy. My booking confirmation did not explicitly state that hot spring access is limited to one entry per person per day. When I inquired, the hot spring area manager informed me this was the hotel's default rule. I found this completely unreasonable, and it severely detracted from my overall experience. Had such a crucial restriction been clearly communicated upfront during booking, guests would not have been caught off guard. I strongly recommend the hotel clearly outlines its hot spring usage guidelines.

All the pictures I've shared were taken just outside the hotel. The hotel's decor is also lovely, with a charming Korean folk style. The heating works great, so no worries about being cold. The shuttle service is very quick, making it super convenient for skiing and hot springs, which are both very close by. The service attitude is excellent too; they even gave us a welcome gift and fruit upon arrival. Breakfast was quite substantial.
