Se você tiver dinheiro extra, esta pode ser uma boa maneira de se dar ao luxo. No entanto, um aviso. Se você estiver chegando na estação de trem de Odawara, não há como chegar ao hotel, exceto pelo ônibus do hotel. Os táxis não o levarão. E o ônibus do hotel não o levará a menos que você tenha colocado seu nome na lista de reservas com antecedência. Ninguém me avisou sobre isso. Eu li online que um trem de conexão leva você perto do hotel, mas isso também não é verdade. Cheguei durante uma tempestade de neve/gelo e esperei mais de 3 horas antes de conseguir uma carona para o hotel. O motorista do ônibus não me deixou entrar. Liguei para a recepção do hotel 3 ou 4 vezes, mas eles não foram muito prestativos. Suponho que essa seja a barreira da língua. Eles tinham boas intenções. Mas, independentemente disso, se uma reserva de ônibus é a única maneira de acessar um hotel remoto no topo da montanha, é muito importante garantir que seus hóspedes entendam isso. Quando cheguei, tenho que admitir que o quarto era lindo. O jantar buffet foi fantástico, mas não estava incluído no preço do quarto - um pouco decepcionante, já que o quarto já é muito caro. Muitos custos extras, então tome cuidado. Recebi uma massagem realmente ótima no meu quarto. A fonte termal onsen era muito boa e gratuita (incluída na tarifa do quarto). Em Hakone, as pessoas estão gradualmente se mudando para Tóquio para se desenvolver. Não há muitos restaurantes funcionando à noite e as atrações estão espalhadas. No entanto, é recomendável que você traga sua família com você e pelo menos alugue um carro para entrar e sair de Hakone. Não se pode pegar táxi nas montanhas e os ônibus não têm capacidade operacional em termos de rotas e pontualidade, por isso é preciso ter fé. Uma experiência satisfatória. Foi a primeira vez que as crianças vivenciaram a experiência de vida tradicional japonesa. Foi incrível! A cama no chão de tatame faz você dormir profundamente! Sem falar na experiência de banho termal em espaço privativo ao ar livre. Embora eu não entenda o idioma da senhora japonesa que entrega a comida, posso entender perfeitamente seu calor, simpatia e atitude séria no trabalho. Se você quer passar o dia em um hotel confortável e com tranquilidade, este hotel é altamente recomendado!

Overall an ok stay. A bit hard to find, very limited English spoken by the staff which led to some confusion (even for the representatives who were assigned to us by English speakers). Felt quite formal and not that warm Room was more or less as expected, and the dinner and breakfast meals were quite elaborate. Felt that breakfast was actually the stronger meal of the two, so wasn’t necessarily worth it to pay extra for dinner. I’d likely skip doing dinner in the future. The room attendant who helped us was very kind and attentive, although we had a bit of language barrier given we don’t speak Japanese. The big disappointment was even though the ryokan is advertised as allowing guests to book one of the larger hot springs on the property for private use for 45 minutes, we weren’t able to do this. We arrived within the designated check in time and were told that it was all booked up for the day. There was no way to book in advance and we were only staying for one night, and they didn’t try to accommodate allowing us to book at all for the next day before checkout. This really hampered the experience overall - we weren’t that interested in using the gender segregated facility (was traveling with my partner who is the opposite gender) as we wouldn’t be able to spend time together, and the tub in our room was quite small. They should amend this policy to allow all guests to book a private hot spring time or not advertise it as part of the room! Feels like we got cheated out of the service and we weren’t offered anything else as an alternative. I would have booked another ryokan had I known this were the case - there are many others in Hakone which are much better value and have nicer / newer private facilities for around the same price. I wouldn’t recommend Yama no Chaya given this was a big part of what we thought would make it a good experience

Não oferece uma boa relação custo-benefício, especialmente para quem viaja sozinho ou sem crianças. É um lugar voltado para famílias, com crianças gritando tarde da noite, o que é muito audível dentro dos quartos. Os onsens privativos com banheira de hidromassagem são mais ou menos. Os quartos não têm NENHUM abajur ou luzinha - para relaxar à noite ou ir ao banheiro, você precisa acender as luzes grandes, fortes e sem regulagem de intensidade. Além disso, é um complexo enorme com apenas uma entrada - você precisa subir e descer vários lances de escada só para chegar ao seu quarto (ou ao restaurante, etc.). É muito confuso. O café da manhã é razoável, mas termina muito cedo (última entrada às 8h30).

Fiquei muito satisfeita com a experiência nas águas termais. A comida era única e o quarto tinha uma fonte termal com temperatura constante, que pude desfrutar imediatamente. Havia yukatas disponíveis gratuitamente para empréstimo, e também um banho de pés ao ar livre onde pude relaxar enquanto apreciava a paisagem.

Everything was lovely. The weather was lousy so we stayed mostly at the hotel onsen, and was incredibly happy with the quality of the onsens. Dinner was a buffet with some interesting options. Breakfast was similar to other hotels, but more variety. Loved the 300m walking trail between the hotel and the ropeway station. It was so quick and easy to take the ropeway up and down. It rained while we stayed so no Fuji views but I imagine they’d be lovely from the garden on a good day. Bathrooms are small but functional. We used the onsen so much we never needed the shower in our room. A cute gift shop and cafe on the ground floor. Self-service coffee machine in the lobby. Only reason we don’t give 5/5 rating is there was only 1 pillow each. We possibly could have asked for another, but only stayed 1 night and it was late before we realised. Beds were firm, but I liked it. The rooms are huge by what we’ve encountered in other Japanese hotels.

We got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold. The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps. Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough. The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

Overall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care. However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there. The Japanese food is very specific — it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn’t have breakfast or lunch there. Considering that this was the most expensive “hotel” during our 14-day trip around Japan, our expectations were a bit higher. In any case, we thank the staff for this unique experience.

This ryokan is perfect for people who want to experience ryokan for the first time but want something cheaper within Hakone area. Situated on the main road with buses to Owakudani and train to Odawara. I'd recommend catching the bus from Odawara to this ryokan since the walking trail from the closest station to this place is hilly and has lots of stairs. Main road is not very luggage friendly so pack very light when you're staying here. This place has very nice rooms with view to the river behind it. The view is spectacular when the entire river area is covered in red autumn leaves. Dinner and breakfast are very delicious, you will be served a range of traditional food from a la carte to dessert. You can also book your private indoor onsen FOR FREE. The ryokan also has an open outdoor onsen across the bridge for 3000 JPY. The only downside of this place is the main road is very busy as it's the only way for people to drive from Odawara to Owakudani. So local people take this road to get to Owakudani. Buses from this place will not stop at there in the weekend. Your best plan is to go to Lake Ashi first and take the opposite route to Owakudani instead. Plan your trip in this area very carefully because a bus trip that would take 10-15 minutes will end up taking you 1 to 1.5 hours.
