Cidade Antiga de Lijiang Hostels

"NOTE: This hostel is 20 minute taxi ride away from the Old Town and the bus terminal to Yulong and 40+ minutes away from the train station. As such, you can save time and money paying a few dollars more to stay in the Old Town (a taxi is around 20 yuan each way to the hostel). The positive of the hostel is that, like other Desti hostels, there are large community spaces to chill and socialize whether Chinese or a foreigner friend. So if that is your goal, then this is a great option. Unfortunately, I found this to be the least maintained and clean Desti of the three I have been to. The curtains on my bed were covered in gross stains. And guests in the room were loud after quiet hours. They also placed us near the shower, some guests hung their underwear so it smelled. Not the hostel’s fault, but perhaps this is who it attracts? Fortunately, the staff did apologize and offer a solution once they understood the issues."

"I had the most lovely stay. The hosts welcomed me with open arms (I even got a little Christmas present!) and I became part of a vibrant and lovely hostel community real quick. The common meals and evening activities like karaoke and pool make it easy. Even I don't speak a word of Chinese (and hosts and guests did only speak little English), we managed to communicate and ended up spending all days together, went on trips and on an awesome hike. They really made me feel at home. Only thing to notice: there is no heating and common areas are mostly open spaces. So it can get a bit chilly during the cold season..."

"O proprietário me ajuda a levar minha bagagem para o quarto durante o check-in e me verifica quando não estou me sentindo bem. Eles limpam o quarto todos os dias, também o banheiro. Tive uma estadia agradável. P/s: você tem que fazer sua própria cama e o colchão é bem duro. Encontrei todo ”tipo” de cabelo quando coloquei o lençol. E muito cabelo no chão também. Informei o proprietário e ela limpou o quarto imediatamente. Obrigado pelo seu serviço"

"It's affordable and the room was decent. The owner and other guests were really friendly and welcoming. They even organized a Werewolf board game, everyone was so easy to get along with! 😭 I'd definitely love to stay here again if I get the chance."

"Had a really memorable time at this hostel. Stayed in the dorm - clean and spacious. Great location for exploring Shuhe Ancient Town. The dogs are lovely company with personality. Lots of nice spaces - multiple common rooms, a very nice rooftop. I was treated to a very helpful, welcoming group of staff. I really enjoy their energy and attitudes, and wish I could spend more time with them. Staff also assisted with good priced (better than Didi) transport to and from Gan He Ba hiking trail. Overall, very cool and inviting group of people who help make this hostel."

"I went out on a trip by myself and stayed in a youth hostel for two consecutive days. The lady boss was very welcoming. It was the cleanest and most comfortable youth hostel I have ever stayed in. Every roommate I met was also very nice. I even spent half a day in Baisha Ancient Town with one of my roommates. Yunnan is really nice. Next time I come alone, I will stay here again, but I hope we come together, hahaha."

"Great value from money! It's conveniently situated outside the ancient city,for your tranquility and easy reach to bus pick ups and station. And the manager was very helpful and gave me all the advice I needed,even helped me arranging the tiger leaping gorge trek. Everything perfect."

"The room was huge and spacious, with amazing views over the mountains, which was absolutely breathtaking! The owners were nice and polite, and helped us with everything we needed. The location was perfect to me, in front of one of the side entrances of the Old Town and very close to bus stop. In just 10-15 mins walk, you reach the new town and it’s full of restaurants nearby! Cleanliness could be improved and the bathroom could use some care, but it’s ok for the price you pay! Just a quick note: the room doesn’t come with heating, just a bed heating blanket (as advertised), something to keep in mind if you come during winter as it gets quite cold. Also the hostel has a very cool rooftop with great views!"

"This is such a calm and well equipped place. If you are looking to unwind and enjoy the simple things, you're gonna love it too. Peaceful common spaces, great shower and bathroom facilities and the best quality dorm beds I've ever slept (so well) in. There are washing machines, pets, a coffee bar and a lot of little cozy spots to be by yourself or with a friend. I booked one more night. The location is just 5 min walk down a small street of the gate to ShuHe Ancient town. Amazing if you want the option to do all the touristy stuff but still stay in a tranquil neighborhood."

They are very nice and friendly. I was even given a ride to the station by the staff. I recommend. The best hostel in China in 2025 that I have been to."
