"It’s a very charming place with a real wabi-sabi atmosphere - simple, quiet, and full of nostalgic beauty. Quite old-fashioned, but well maintained. This spot became popular on a Russian platform, so there are many tourists from Russia ( me as well) . When I visited the onsen, there were seven people in total - all Russian girls. Overall, it doesn’t stop you from having a great rest. However, it’s not really suitable for a honeymoon, as my husband and I were separated the whole time — there are no mixed onsens for men and women, probably because the place is now mostly visited by foreigners.
When we checked out, they kindly drove us back to the station. I left with a complete sense of relaxation. Thank you!"

"The staffs are elderly uncles and aunties, they are super friendly, we communicate with them with simple japanese, and they can communicate with us with some english too.
The room has really nice sea view, it is big and wide, with very comfortable futon in the middle of the room.
The shower came with bath tub.
The hotel also has free family private onsen that can be use as long as no one is using it, managed to use it on the two night we stayed there, very comfortable and relaxing.
Besides that, the hotel also has private onsen with sea view to be rented.
We drove rental car there, the hotel has private car park nearby to park the car."

"Recentemente, me hospedei no Hotel Clad durante minha viagem à região do Monte Fuji e foi uma experiência maravilhosa. Um dos pontos altos foi o onsen. Foi um verdadeiro deleite relaxar nas águas termais enquanto contemplava o Monte Fuji — uma experiência que pareceu ao mesmo tempo tranquila e luxuosa. As instalações do onsen eram limpas, bem conservadas e nunca estavam lotadas.
O hotel também está convenientemente conectado ao Gotemba Premium Outlets, facilitando fazer compras ou comer algo sem precisar ir muito longe. Apesar da proximidade, o hotel mantém uma atmosfera muito tranquila, o que eu realmente apreciei.
No geral, o Hotel Clad é uma base perfeita para quem deseja explorar a região do Monte Fuji com conforto. Seja para fazer trilhas, compras ou simplesmente admirar a vista, ele proporciona uma estadia serena, panorâmica e satisfatória."

"The resort is truly remarkable with good food and onsen facilities. My rating is purely based on the resort experience.
However, I will like to provide feedback on the reservation experience on trip.com. The pricing indicated on trip.com is not totally transparent. At the time of booking, I indicated 2 adults and a 7yo child to get accurate pricing. The amount was prepaid with a small fee JPY450 to be paid at hotel. At check in, I was shocked to learn that we are expected to pay for the child room rate at JPY22k+. That was not indicated on the “to pay at hotel’.
Trip.com customer service officer replied that the requirement was indicated on the email confirmation sent. This is upsetting as I usually used the mobile app and relied on available information to make reservation. It is not my habit to check email confirmation given the information on the app is correct. Pricing should be made transparent at point of booking and not after booking. And out of ‘goodwill’ they offered me a compensation close to 50% of the child room rate.
I have been using trip.com since covid and this is my first time having such issue. I hope my experience can benefit others who is booking this accommodation with child."

"It was an amazing decision to stay at Shimoda hotel. The location is good. We arrived easily. The room is spacious and the beds are comfortable too! Not to mention the dinner that we reserved was very interesting and a spectacle! We were quite lucky because there was fireworks in the area so we saw them from the restaurant in the hotel. I'd say the breakfast is also very worthwhile since there is a variety of food options and some quite unique to Shimoda."

"Amazing service and onsen facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor, private and public baths to choose from. There are unlimited drinks from the drinks machines and also other complementary food services.
Both the meals, breakfast and dinner, were exquisite. It was great to experience traditional Japanese dining.
The traditional Japanese building was like a labyrinth and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many halls and gardens. The location is also great and there are many shops and temples around the area.
All in all the perfect place to have a more traditional Japanese experience whilst receiving excellent service."

"The public bath at the 14/ F is very nice with mount fuji view if you are lucky.

XXiaomuMUSI”This trip to Izu Kogen was made particularly memorable because of this B&B. As soon as I arrived at the B&B, the owner's warm welcome made me feel like spring breeze. The owner was very considerate. Not only did he introduce us to the surrounding attractions in detail, but he also gave us a lot of practical travel suggestions.
The environment of the B&B is even better. The room is clean and tidy, and the layout is very warm and Japanese, making people feel as comfortable as at home. The public area is also very comfortable, and the hot spring ♨️ is also very suitable for families.
It must be mentioned that this B&B is very close to the Jogasaki Coast, and it is very convenient to travel. You can just walk there, and the scenery along the way is also very beautiful.
When we went back, it rained heavily and the tram stopped running. The owner took the initiative to contact us to help us find a way, and finally sent us to our destination. Thank you very much🥹
In short, this stay experience was great. I will definitely recommend this B&B to my friends around me, and next time I come to Izu Kogen, it will still be my first choice.”👍

CcometdebrisI stayed at Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace for 5 nights booking though Trip.com. Be warned that problems may occur when booking through travel websites such as this one. I booked a standard room with no meals. What I did not know however, was that this reservation did not include any room cleaning services for the entire stay, no taking of garbage or towel replacement, no bed making, nothing at all. When I contacted the travel website to show my disappointment, they immediately contacted the hotel requesting a full refund. I did not expect a full refund for my entire stay. What I did expect, was for someone to acknowledge the fact that this important piece of information should have been indicated someone on the online reservation confirmation. Neither the travel site nor the hotel would acknowledge this.
The travel site replied with a response from the hotel, saying that I was a regular guest and knew about this “regulation”. It’s true, I have visited Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace on several occasions when housekeeping services were not included. However, this was clearly indicated on the reservation, and I stayed during the COVID STATE OF EMERGENCY, when it was standard practice for many hotels to exclude cleaning services. My recent stay was at the beginning of August, WHEN THE STATE OF EMERGENCY AND COVID RESTRICTIONS HAD BEEN LIFTED. It is no longer standard practice to exclude cleaning services at hotels in Japan.
The hotel stated that I visited the front desk every day to get towels and never mentioned the need to clean the room. This is untrue. I only came to the front dest 2 times during my stay, and this is because room cleaning staff entered my room on 2 occasions, so I was expecting them to clean or take out the trash, but they did nothing and left. I expected them to return, however, they never did. The bottom line is the hotel is responsible for communicating their services to customers, especially after covid restrictions have been lifted. Blaming guests for their lack of communication is completely unprofessional.
Now in regards to the hotel itself, I have stayed here on several occasions, I find it to be perfect, mainly because of the location and modest room size. The hotel is conveniently located near Lake Ippeki (Ippekiko) and there is plenty of nature and a few trails in the area. You can step out the door and be on a simple hiking trail within minutes. It’s a very quiet area and very good for children and families. Though the hotel is dated, the rooms are all quite large and include a living room, kitchen with cooking supplies and dishes (but no forks or spoons), a large bath, and both Western and Japanese style bedrooms. Some may be discouraged by the age of the hotel (it’s quite old and could use some renovation), but if you don’t mind that, then I would highly recommend staying here. One point that I need to mention is in regards to the bedrooms. The hotel has replaced their blackout curtains with super thin curtains which allow sunlight to easily shine through. We were woken up at 5:00 am every morning because of the bright sunlight in our room. If you’re a light sleeper, please take note. I wish management would consider this. Also, it’s highly recommended that guests come by car, public transportation is very inconvenient in the area.
Overall, Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace is a very convenient place for a reasonable price. I will definitely be staying here again in the future, but hope that they act with a little more professionalism and consider the fact that the covid state of emergency ended long ago.

EepiceNestled on a hillside overlooking the bay, the hotel is absolutely stunning on a clear day. The garden has direct access to the beach, though climbing the stairs back up can be quite a workout.
The room facilities were comprehensive and newer than I had anticipated.
The hotel was quite busy with guests from various countries, indicating it's indeed very foreigner-friendly. However, this also led to some issues. For instance, the hotel's onsen (hot spring) isn't very large, so it felt quite crowded with so many international visitors. What was even more dismaying was the blatant disregard for onsen etiquette. I personally witnessed several instances, including but not limited to: two Chinese female tourists in swimsuits in the outdoor bath, one of whom was sitting at the edge, soaking her legs while drinking a beverage, with a full face of makeup – I half expected her to pull out her phone for a 'perfect shot.' Additionally, two women, possibly from Eastern Europe or Russia, covered in tattoos, wore their slippers directly into the changing area and then just left them thrown under the lockers. Such sights were off-putting, so we decided not to use the onsen on our second night. The hotel actually provides guests with a leaflet on Japanese onsen etiquette upon check-in, but clearly, some people just don't bother to read it. I suggest the hotel increases staff patrols in the onsen area to promptly identify and address these uncivilized behaviors.
On another note, when we first entered our room, it felt stuffy, so we opened the window, which unfortunately let in some mosquitoes. After contacting the front desk, they promptly sent up an electric mosquito repellent, which was a thoughtful gesture.
We stayed for two nights, both on a half-board basis (dinner and breakfast). The dinner was a Western-style set menu, with at least 7 courses. Both the presentation and content were Michelin-level and absolutely delicious.
Finally, the hotel's shuttle bus service is quite frequent. In the mornings, there are four buses that stop at Shimoda Park, which is perfect for seeing the hydrangeas.

GGuest UserWe had a truly wonderful stay at Ittouan. The experience was exceptional from beginning to end.
The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They noticed us from far away and immediately came to help carry our luggage. One of the staff members, a lovely young lady who spoke excellent English, was especially helpful and made communication very easy. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask her name, but I would like to thank her again.
We booked both dinner and breakfast, and the meals were fantastic. The ingredients were very fresh and the variety was impressive. Every dish was different and beautifully prepared. However, for two women like us, the portions were honestly quite generous — even sharing one meal between two people might have been enough!
The location is excellent. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Kawazu Station, which makes it extremely convenient for visiting the Kawazu cherry blossoms. It is also very close to the beautiful coastline, so the surroundings are lovely.
Our room had a private onsen bath where we could soak while enjoying the view of cherry blossoms, which was a truly special experience. There is also a larger private bath available by reservation (free of charge). We also tried the hot stone spa, which was incredibly effective in relieving the fatigue after my marathon.
Overall, it was a fantastic stay. I would love to come back again in the future, hopefully with my family.

夕食と朝食の両方をお願いしましたが、お料理はどれも本当に素晴らしかったです。食材はとても新鮮で、品数も多く、一つ一つ丁寧に作られているのが伝わってきました。すべて違う料理で楽しませていただきました。ただ、私たち二人（女性）には少し量が多く、とても贅沢なボリュームでした。
立地もとても良く、河津駅まで無料の送迎があるので河津桜を見に行くのにもとても便利でした。また、美しい海岸も近く、散歩するだけでもとても気持ちの良い場所でした。
お部屋の温泉では桜を眺めながらゆっくり入ることができ、とても特別な時間を過ごすことができました。また、無料で予約できる貸切風呂もあり、温泉を存分に楽しめました。さらにホットストーンスパも利用しましたが、マラソンを走った後の疲れが本当に和らぎ、とてもリラックスできました。
スタッフの皆さまの温かいおもてなしのおかげで、忘れられない滞在になりました。ぜひまた家族と一緒に訪れたいと思います。本当にありがとうございました。

GGuest UserI happened to experience a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in the Fuji Five Lakes area. The whole room shook violently, and all the bottles and jars on the table fell to the floor. Surprisingly, the hotel was completely fine after the quake. The earthquake resistance is truly impressive! 👍
If it hadn't been for the earthquake, I'd say this hotel is incredibly convenient. It's easy to get to Gotemba for shopping, and the bus service to and from Tokyo is also very accessible.
My only regret is that I didn't get to see Mount Fuji 🗻

CCw233Facilities: This hotel has an old-money charm, and you can really see its past luxury. Everything is very well-maintained, and the rooms are clean. There aren't many power outlets, but they thoughtfully provided power strips. The tatami mattress was very comfortable, and the cleaning staff did a thorough job every day. The view from the window was beautiful, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves was a dream.
Service: The hotel offers a shuttle service to Atami JR Station, departing every half hour from in front of McDonald's. There are two vans per shuttle, clearly marked with the hotel's name in red, and managed by hotel staff. They drop off at both the old and new wings, which makes up for the slightly inconvenient location.
Environment: The hotel boasts three large hot springs, all with both indoor and outdoor baths. I tried them all, and each has its own unique character. My skin felt so smooth afterwards! The walkway on the 15th floor of the Ocean Wing (old building) offers panoramic ocean views, making it the perfect spot to watch the sunrise.
Dining: The buffet dinner was absolutely, incredibly amazing! Unlimited tuna belly! All-you-can-eat scallops and roe! Shrimp, sea bream, squid, salmon – there was so much I couldn't even try it all. The cooked dishes were also delicious, but my stomach just couldn't fit any more.
I saw some not-so-great reviews before checking in, but perhaps everyone has different preferences. We, however, highly recommend it!

Key Point: The hotel includes a one-day admission ticket, allowing access to three attractions within one day:
(Cactus Zoo, Izu Granpal Park, and the New York Lighting Museum Garden). We recommend checking in after visiting Mt. Omuro, enjoying a one-night stay with two meals at the onsen (hot spring), and then visiting the above attractions the next day! Perfect for families and couples!
We recommend driving or walking to the hotel from Mt. Omuro/the zoo.
Environment and Location: The hotel is located next to Mt. Omuro, about a 10-minute walk from the Mt. Omuro Ropeway; it also has a private entrance to the Cactus Zoo (accessible via a gate next to the hotel). The hotel features a terrace and platform with stunning surrounding views, perfect for taking photos, overlooking the sunrise, night views, and Mt. Omuro.
Rooms and Facilities: Spacious rooms with a semi-Western, semi-Japanese design.
Meals: The hotel offers a Japanese set breakfast and a kaiseki dinner.

As expected from a Marriott, it was clean, hygienic, and the service was excellent. The hot springs were very relaxing. It's a bit far from the main hotel, so breakfast isn't included, and there are no convenience stores nearby.

MMajorosThe hotel itself is good, but it's quite a distance from Mount Fuji. It has hot springs and laundry facilities, which is convenient. Breakfast was also good. However, on the third night, the alarm went off around 2 AM. Everyone in the hotel rushed out, and the elevators and phones were shut down. We were so scared that we quickly found the emergency stairs and ran down. The hotel said it was an equipment issue and told us to go back to our rooms. We climbed 10 floors back, and then a little later, the alarm went off again. Soon after, they announced that everything was fine. We barely slept that entire night because of the commotion.
