Check in was meant to be at 3pm. Arrived at 3.20 and the room wasn't done yet which was no trouble to us to wait around. The hotel offered us free drinks which was kind of them. The bed was super comfortable and had a lovely night sleep. The bath panel was cracked and honestly looked quite outdated. The hotel itself is located directly outside the train station which was perfect for my first time going to Carlisle. And right next door to a Costa. I'd definitely be back just for a sleep in the comfortable bed again

I have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

1. Location, the hotel is just by the lake, but it is a 30-minute drive from Windermere, and it is far from the Lake District. 2. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed, 15 pounds a day, including breakfast. 3, the hotel is large and has a lot of parking spaces. 4. The meal is great, classic English. 5, the hotel toiletries are good, is the British Royal Development Supplies MB, the bathroom's heating rack is open in the summer, the towel will be done overnight. Great

The hotel is a bit old, but the location is super convenient, right across from the train station. The breakfast spread was quite good, and the front desk service was excellent. Plus, there's a really tasty fish and chips shop downstairs!

The room was well cleaned and spacious enough for the family. Great location near the beach and the train station. Would definitely come back for future Lake District visits. Great price as well!

The room is average, the house is beautiful, and the surrounding gardens are also beautiful. Although it is a little far from the lake area, once you walk there you can occupy the lake area and use it as the front garden of two particularly luxurious villas, which is truly beautiful.

The hotel is located on the hillside of the lake area, manor-style, beautiful appearance, with a garden and large lawn, the environment is beautiful. Originally booked a classic twin room, after considering such a good environment, I still enjoyed it, so I looked at the picture and added money to book a club twin room. I was very looking forward to it. As a result, I was disappointed when I went upstairs. First of all, the elevator went to the first floor (the second floor in China), and our room was on the second floor. So the chartered driver who can work hard for Trip.com helped us take the box, and then after entering the door, I found that it was completely different from the picture. It was worse than the classic twin room we originally booked. There was a sofa, no coffee table, no desk and chair, and the service desk negotiated. The front desk staff was busy with restaurant service. So every time I asked him to ring the bell and wait, and I denied that there was a mistake. I insisted that the picture on Trip.com was wrong. What was given to us was the club twin room. There were no other rooms at present, so I could helpless stay and spent the worst night of the 16 nights of the trip. Fortunately, later Trip.com came forward to coordinate the refund of the difference and made corresponding compensation. We are still satisfied with the after-care work of Trip.com .

The room we changed to was much better, but it was a pity that we didn't book it longer. We also folded the bath towel into a swan shape, which was pretty. But this room type is on the first floor, and there is a courtyard directly outside. It feels like there are a lot of bugs when the weather is hot, so we still need to think about it more.

Overall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.

A great location for photography...a very modern and beautiful and clean hotel...it always smells good...you can have several things in one place together...really take care of the cleanliness of the hotel every day...and I really liked the cleanliness there.
