"This stay is value for money! Enjoyed their clean bathrooms and well-maintained rooftop restaurant. Receptionists are helpful too. You can book airport transfer for departure on the spot at 1000 rupees. I have nothing but good stuff to say about this lovely hostel, tucked away in a quieter area amidst the bustle of Thamel. Even met friendly roommates who are respectful of each other’s space and privacy here. This adds a little something special to my short stay here in Kathmandu. Thank you for providing a comfy space."

"Located in a small lane, it was not easy for our driver. Surrouding vicinity has restaurants, convenience stores, money changer. It's a good location about 5 minutes walk to the bus stop for us to go to Chitwan/Pokhara.
The bed was good and the room was clean. Staffs were also well mannered and helpful. The only drawback i felt was the room's soundproofing was not good. The whole night was noisy.
As we had to check out very early the next day, the staffs offered to pack breakfast for us. Very thoughtful kind gesture."

"My room wasn't huge, but it was very clean. The staff were excellent, and they offer a free airport shuttle service – just contact them in advance, and they'll be waiting for you at the exit with a sign with your name on it. It's also very close to the airport. The next day when I checked out, I didn't have a taxi app, so the staff helped me call a car and even exchanged 100 RMB for me to pay for the taxi. After the taxi arrived, the staff helped me with my luggage all the way to the car. Highly recommend!"

"Small boutique hotel with amazing service, the people are so helpful. Shree Jana at the reception is very cheerful, she always greetings the guest whenever come in and out of the hotel. My flight was early past midnight, they gave special price to stay at the hotel till 3 hours before my departute. Breakfast also good, serves lots of fruits.
Location is close to all the shops and restos.Recommended for travellers who are coming to Kathmandu and want to stay around Thamel.

We had a truly pleasant stay in Pokhara at Magnificent Hotel. The location is excellent — close to Phewa Lake and within easy walking distance of restaurants, cafés, and shops, yet the atmosphere remains calm and relaxing.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing everything needed for a restful stay. The space feels bright and welcoming, and housekeeping keeps everything neat and fresh each day. After long days of exploring, it was the perfect place to unwind.
The staff made a strong impression with their kindness and professionalism. They were always ready to assist with directions, transportation, or local recommendations, and their warm hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome.

"A small but charming hotel. The front desk staff and bellhops who checked me in were very welcoming. The hotel front desk also helped me book a taxi to the airport and even kindly told me the estimated fare, so I didn't have to worry about being overcharged. The hotel's security guard was also very chatty. Even though I only stayed one night, I had a wonderful experience. The only minor hiccup was a small lamp by the bed whose switch I couldn't find anywhere in the room. I had to ask the front desk, and it turned out to be in a very, very hidden spot. If I come back to Kathmandu, I'll definitely choose to stay here again."

GGuest UserThe hostel is located in the Thamel area, surrounded by restaurants, shops, bars, and nightclubs, making it super convenient to get around. The cleanliness of the hostel is decent, but they provide blankets, which probably aren't changed daily. However, the sheets and pillowcases seem to be changed regularly. The room has air conditioning and Wi-Fi, and there's hot water available. Overall, it's pretty good, especially for only eighteen bucks a night – you can't beat that value for money!

GGuest UserThe room made a decent first impression and did the bare minimum. But, it quickly became clear that it’s best suited for a very short stay. The bed was comfortable enough. Overall, the room is fine if you’re just passing through, but anything longer starts to feel like stretching it.
Staff presence around the hotel was limited. They clearly run on a lean operation, which can go either way. The guard in front of the elevator stood out in the best possible way and added a genuinely warm, human touch, which helped balance things out.
At check-in, I was given two complimentary cocktail coupons for the upstairs bar, which immediately lifted my spirits. This was a place I had enjoyed many times before and often recommended to friends and family. I had good memories of the atmosphere, the food, and the general vibe, so I went in with high hopes. In the past I had written raving 5-star reviews of their restaurant food and amazing service!
Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t live up to those expectations. What should have been a simple, enjoyable night out unraveled into confusion and unwelcoming interactions. Small moments piled up, the mood shifted, and it became clear that the experience had gone off the rails. Rather than force it, my group and I decided to take our time and money elsewhere. Sometimes you read the room and move on.
I returned to the hotel later that night and stayed over. Took a hot shower in the morning, loved the smell of their body wash, btw!
Another brief interaction during checkout reinforced the same theme: rigid, abrupt, and lacking the kind of hospitality that makes guests feel welcome.
All in all, it’s disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed and freely recommended lose its consistency and warmth. I’m no longer comfortable recommending it, and I’m not sure I would choose to return.
As for the unused cocktail coupon, I still have it. Any takers?

GGuest UserI stayed for 2 nights, it didn't feel safe for me as a solo woman traveller. One the first night around 11pm there were 3-4 men shouting and laughing and knocked my door. I was scared and called the reception. The phone wire was not connected to the phone, i have to hold it tight to the phone while i was speaking. It was a terrifying experience. When in emergency even the phone wasn't working! the receptionist took 30 min to for the men to calm down. The next day morning the receptionist told me they men moved out. But i saw them in the evening in the hotel. Didn't feel safe. Again, the men, shouting and aloud. Still i couldn't sleep there, awake whole two nights i stayed there, didn't feel safe. The place was clean. Location was good.

AAilvxingdeleleExcellent! I stayed alone and the two gentlemen at the front desk were very kind and welcoming. They even helped me book a free taxi for my return trip the next day. The breakfast was also delicious, and the hotel's location is great. I loved it!
I had previously stayed on Thamel Street a few days prior, and it was really noisy at night, making it hard to sleep. My last night here was so comfortable and quiet, truly a perfect end to my Nepal trip.

I recently stayed at Hotel Yala Peak during my visit to Kathmandu, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Tucked away in a quiet alley in the bustling Thamel area, this hotel is the perfect balance between peace and convenience.
Rooms: The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Mine had a great view of the inner courtyard, and the bed was surprisingly soft. Hot water and good Wi-Fi were consistently available, which is a big plus!
Service: The staff here are truly outstanding. Friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Whether it was arranging airport pickups, tours, or just recommending places to eat, they went above and beyond.
Location: Ideal for tourists. You're minutes away from shops, restaurants, and trekking gear stores, but the hotel is just far enough from the main street to feel calm and relaxed.
Price: Great value for money. The rates are budget-friendly without compromising on comfort or cleanliness.
Extras: They also offer luggage storage for trekkers, which is super convenient, and the rooftop is a nice place to unwind.
Overall: Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, and trekkers. If you're looking for a safe, clean, and affordable place in Kathmandu with genuine hospitality, Hotel Yala Peak is a fantastic choice.

PPascalHad a terrible experience at this hotel - booked it as a first stop in Kathmandu on arrival in Nepal, place to put my luggage while trekking and a last night before flying out of the country.
There is no provision for bag check - no tag given or the like. Asked if could leave / check my bag was told yes and to leave infront of front desk. Two weeks later when I returned to the hotel bag was still in the lobby infront of front desk. Things were missing of course - none of great enough value to argue, but the fact they couldn’t even be bothered to move the bag a few feet to a closet / holding space or the like is indicative of the way this place rolls.
Tried to book a shuttle for early morning to airport through hotel, listed as included service. Despite confirming and reconfirming, they arranged nothing. Instead at 5:15 AM it became a game of let’s make a deal and see how much we can charge while providing no evidence there was even a driver. In the end I gave up and carted my luggage to the street to get a taxi.
Nepal is a wonderful country - this hotel was a consistent bad experience. Rooms themselves are meh - didn’t try the free breakfast, on site restaurant was pretty good, atmosphere/ food. This isn’t a cheap hotel by local standards - for the price point there are much / many options in the area.

UunakaiponGreat location! It's in an area with several hotels of a similar caliber, and perhaps due to the competition, the quality you get for the price is outstanding. I initially booked for one night and liked it so much I wanted to extend my stay, but unfortunately, there were no rooms available, so I had to move to a nearby hotel. However, the staff here were incredibly helpful and kind, even assisting with tour requests. I forgot to take photos of the hotel, but the restaurant immediately to the front left as you exit the hotel was excellent, so I've included a picture of that instead. I went there every single night!
