"Both the hotel and the rooms were spacious and very clean. This was my first time using self check-in, but it was very smooth. It would be great if there were bread for breakfast, and there was some hair on the floor in the changing area of the bathroom and in front of the sink, so a bit more cleaning there would be helpful. It's within walking distance to Yubatake, but I used the free shuttle service as it was drizzling. I'd love to stay here again next time."

"Room & vibes Stayed in a traditional tatami room and it was so Japanese in the best way – futon, tatami smell, the whole ryokan fantasy. Super cosy, perfect if you’re here to soak, chill, and live your best onsen‑town main‑character life. Buildings & facilities Hotel has three blocks, all connected via the main building, so you’ll always pass through it anyway. Most of the good stuff – hot springs, buffet etc. – is in the Annex building where I stayed, so it was really convenient, just no Yubatake view (that’s only for the main building rooms). Location & mini shopping zone They literally have their own shopping area on the first floor of the main building, right by Yubatake and the hot spring street, so you can roll out of the hotel in yukata and start browsing. Super easy to snack, shop, then hop back into the onsen without feeling like you “went out”. Transport & walking in snow There’s a shuttle bus to the nearest public transport stop, so luggage days are easy. You can walk it in under 10 minutes, but in snow season the road gets icy and crazy slippery, so honestly not recommended unless you trust your shoes (and your balance). Staff & service energy Hotel staff are amazing – super friendly and actually proactive. Besides Japanese and English, some staff speak Mandarin and will just switch to it to help you out, and they’ll even offer to take photos for you before you have the chance to ask, which is perfect for solo or shy travellers."

"Fiquei satisfeito porque havia muitos tipos de banhos no grande banho público. No entanto, embora da varanda se possa ver o rio, a varanda estava em tão mau estado que não tive vontade de sair. "母の喜寿のお祝いに利用させて頂きました。 お宿に入る前の外観から感動の連続です。 清潔感と癒しの和の雰囲気にあふれています。 お忙しかったのか受付までの時間が長かった様に感じましたがwelcome drinkで癒されました。 6階のお部屋へ行くには長い廊下、電動カート、ゴンドラ、階段があり77歳の母には辛そうでしたが、お風呂へ行く下りの時には既に楽しんでいて「慣れると気にならないね、でも1人では迷子だわぁ」と言いながらお散歩気分で歩いてくれました。 お料理も一つ一つこだわっていて味付けもちょうど良く母も喜んで楽しめました。男性陣のご飯のおかわりも対応してくれて、とにかく白ご飯から美味しいんです！ 食事に担当してくださった方の対応は素晴らしくお仕事という印象が無く心の豊かさを感じさせる心のこもったご対応にいっそう食事が美味しく楽しくなりました。 母の喜寿のお祝いのために紫のチャンチャンコまで用意して下さって、「喜寿のお祝いです」と伝えていなかったはずなのですがネット注文サービスのケーキのメッセージに「祝喜寿77」とした事でお気付きになりご用意してくださったのだと思います！凄い気配りですよね！ 一緒に行った兄弟たちも口を揃えて「また来たい！」と言ってくれて、何より母が始終笑顔で喜んでくれて、本当に川場温泉 悠湯里庵にして良かったと思いました。 心に残る素晴らしいお時間をご用意して頂き、心から感謝申し上げます。 ありがとうございました。"

Kusatsu itself is a magnificent place. The hotel is located right in the center. The room type was traditional with futons, and we had a mountain view, which was stunning in the morning. The hotel is well-maintained. We absolutely loved the onsen at the hotel – it was incredibly enjoyable! It was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. I particularly want to highlight the breakfasts and dinners; the selection was absolutely superb. Highly recommended!

Everything about our stay at Kusatsu Boun Hotel was perfect. The room appeared to have been very recently renovated—it looked brand new, yet still retained a strong sense of traditional Japanese charm and essence. It was also clean, modern, and very comfortable. The only mild minus point is that the 2 TVs using inside the suites are of the same model and brand thus they share the same remote signal. The service was outstanding throughout our stay. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They also accommodated our limitations and requests with great care, which made us feel truly appreciated. One of the highlights was the onsen facilities. The hotel offers three spacious public baths sourced from two different hot springs (Nishi-kawara and Bandai), making the bathing experience both unique and relaxing. In addition, our room included a private bath of a very good size, allowing us to enjoy the onsen in complete privacy. The food was also excellent, adding another highlight to an already wonderful stay. Overall, an exceptional stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kusatsu.

Upon our arrival, we're greeted with great staff members, who take our shoes and away and provide us slippers to wear during our entire stay. The dinner was exquisitely served as a big course composed of various several side dishes and main items. We were just blown away. So we came back to the room after dinner to find out that the futon beds, Japanese style mattress & beds, were set up for us to relax and sleep. The breakfast is just a bit less sophisticated but still much more than we could eat, yet impressive for us in terms of the effort required to make them. Same with upon our departure, our shoes are placed back at the lobby orientated readily for us to wear. It just shows Japanese highly attentive level of detail in terms of hospitality. Although the location is its downside, even if you don't have a rental car, I still highly recommend it if you can find a way there.

I visited this hotel based on a friend's recommendation, but I was sorely disappointed. There was absolutely no trace of the Japanese-style service I was expecting; it felt just like any other ordinary hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were terrible, and the light meal options were incredibly sparse. My friend mentioned that when it first opened two years ago, the service was excellent. I'm not sure if they started taking tour groups, but it was very crowded, and the soundproofing in the rooms was poor. I had to call the front desk twice in the middle of the night because of noisy neighbors before it was resolved. Given that it was Valentine's Day, the price was exorbitant and definitely not worth it. Plus, one of the three private onsens was under maintenance that day. I would have been much better off staying at one of the high-concentration sulfur hot spring hotels in Manza instead.

The hotel is very popular among the Japanese traveller. Lots of Japanese with very limited foreign traveller. The communication can be a bit difficult at the hotel. The room were cleaned but there is limitation of daily cleaning of the room. They only take trash out and change towels. The policy is to clean the room every 4 days. When the hotel is fully occupied, there is a problem with the scarcity of hot water. We have to wait for hot water to be reproducing 2 out of 3 nights we stayed. The buffet is very crowded and the food are pretty much the same for all 3 nights we stayed for both breakfast and dinner. Our highlights are the crab and the beef station for dinner and the live onigiri station for breakfast.

Our visit to this hotel was perfectly adequate. The traditional setting provided a nice sense of atmosphere, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The onsen facilities themselves were clean and relaxing, meeting our expectations for a hot spring experience. Our room was spacious, but the amenities felt a little dated and could use some refreshment. Dinner and breakfast were included, offering a standard array of Japanese cuisine that was palatable, though not exceptional. The staff were polite. It was wonderful. There were plenty of baths, and the food was especially great. Plus, dinner included all-you-can-drink! The view of the river from the room was also lovely. Everything was excellent, and I think it offered great value for money.

Kinchoro is the more exclusive wing of Fuikuichi. The rooms come sight private onsen and it’s similar to most 10 tatami rooms. The service from the staff is good. They are almost invisible when you don’t need them but will magically appear when you need help, during meal times and check in/out time. The food unfortunately seem to be so so only. I didn’t find it spectacular, and in fact fringing on being a bit too inventive. Otherwise, all okay.
