The Singular Patagonia Hotel

Natales
To call this a ”hotel” or even a ”resort” would minimize the experience that was our week at The Singular. It definitely shattered any expectations we had for our stay there. First of all, the property itself is nothing short of breathtaking: situated on a melted glacier, the hotel has a colorful and important history as a factory and more, and the architects kept much of the original equipment/design/general vibe alive. See some pictures, below, but we don't want to give away too much! The staff is unbelievably solicitous: many are bi or multi lingual, and they couldn't help us enough. Our waitstaff remembered our names, preferences, and were enthusiastic about sharing their world views when we engaged them in conversation. We remarked how impressed we were one night ,at how ”choreographed” the servers were when bringing drinks and food to the tables, especially large groups, and our hostess Daniela smiled in acknowledgement, adding ”Yes! I call that the ”Dance of the Waiters!” The food was fresh and delicious, offering vegetarian entrees as well as amazing local seafood and meat. The duck was divine, surrounded by a billowy cloud of spiced sweet potatoes; and the lamb , offered in three different cuts with a variety of sauces, was nothing like we have ever had at home. Desserts, when we had them, (we tried not to eat them too often!!) were, scrumptious. But the produce!! I ate cherry tomatoes one night in a salad--and I dont even like tomatoes. They were NOTHING like produce that sells in a supermarket. Our terrific server that night commented that this was all so fresh that it might have been in the field that very day! The rooms were minimal in art because each room provides its own gallery: the view outdoors. Sunsets changed nightly, and the colors in the sky defied description. The beds were comfortable and supportive, and one night, after a day of trekking in Torres Del Paine, my husband's neck was sore, the concierge Kelly was quick to provide more firm pillows for relief. (Thanks Kelly!) The spa provides massage services at a very reasonable price, and the ”complete experience” guest receives use of the sauna and steam showers included.(We also received three daily meals and our excursions. This is an unbeatable deal!) Finally, the excursions: the hotel is NOT in the Torres del Paine park; if you are a dyed in the wool trekker/camper/living in the rough traveler, this place is NOT for you. But the guides to Torres del Paine and our boat tour through the glaciers to the Bernardo O'Higgins National Preserve , with our delicious and informational final stop at the Ultima Esperanza Estancia , were lively and informative--fun to be with and very intelligent as well. Seve (merci encore une fois!) and Pablo were wonderful guides and made our excursions so memorable. Honestly, we could go on...but if you are able to, discover The Singular for yourselves! Remember that their summer is NOT ”summery”, and pack your hiking gear

We stayed here for 4 nights during our extensive tour of Chile. A good hotel with good services.  The room is quite small but sufficient, but not much storage. Modern decor throughout. The shower was always hot, so no complaints there, however it could do with de..scaling so it was more of a tap than a shower with the water coming down in a single torrent. However it did the job OK. Bed was comfortable, with 2 single quilts which we found comfortable in the end. Restaurant opens for breakfast at 6.30am which is inconvenient if you have a pick up at 6.30. I suggest making a coffee machine available on request and possibly even some muffins or similar if a guest has an early start. We were able to snatch some breakfast once the door was unlocked luckily as our pick up was delayed.  Our boxed lunch didn't arrive as arranged, unfortunately, and so if we hadn't picked up a few things for breakfast on the go we would have had a very hungry day indeed. There seemed to be a staff shortage on the first few days,  but things got better on day 3 and 4. Friendly reception staff who asked about our day and showed an interest in us which we always appreciate. Good breakfast and good range of cereals seeds fruit and nuts. Friendly chap running the breakfast service. Good location short walk to the town and all the eateries.  Interesting town. Interesting walk along the sea with artworks nearby. The skateboard Park is just opposite but we didn't experience any noise or disturbance.

Casa Lucy

Lucy's was one of the most welcoming houses throughout my South American trip. Aside from clean and comfortable bed and towels, spacious room and bathroom with excellent powerful hot shower, perfect location next to bus depot, the best of all is a nicest, and warmest host Lucy. She made me feel like I returned home and every day made sure I had ample breakfast in the morning before leaving the house, all bus tickets or tours in order, and a hot tea before going to sleep! I would never forget how she waited for me till very late at night to come back from the trek. In all my history of travelling all over the world, no host cared about their guests as much as Lucy. If I ever go back to Puerto Natales Lucy would be one of the main reasons to do so. Thank you, Lucy, for your hospitality! Tip: book all your activities with Lucy. I had pre-booked mine and still regret it. I should have listened to Lucy and would have had much better experience.

The location of the hotel is great, sitting in the room or restaurant can see the snow-capped mountains, fjords and sunsets at a glance. The hotel service is first-class, clean and tidy, breakfast is rich, and boiling water is provided. There is a dedicated free parking lot. The best experience is: you can take a walk by the sea at any time 🚶

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. We stayed here at the end of our trips to Torres Del Paine and El Chalten. We love the location directly across from the water. It is about 3 minutes drive from the downtown area. Views from the hotel view is amazing. We ate dinner at the Hotel restaurant, very nice food and wine with a great value. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
Lady Florence Dixie

During our South America tour in November 2019, we stayed at Hotel Lady Florence Dixie for 3 nights. Small hotel in the middle of town, walking distance to the different attractions in Puerto Natales. Our room was in the second floor, quite roomy and clean. Breakfast was the usual spread in Chile/Argentina with bread, cake, yogurt and fruit. They did offer eggs cooked to your liking. Upon check-out, we were supposed to be picked up by the tour company for transfer to the bus station to cross the border to El Calafate, Argentina. However, nobody showed up, 10 minutes after the stated pickup time. The guy at the front desk called the tour company and they said they would investigate and call back, yet there was no call. Since the bus was leaving in 15 minutes, he suggested that we take a taxi. We did not have any CLP left but he said he would pay for the taxi and he did. We got in the bus with no time to spare. We were so grateful that the front desk person (sorry, we didn’t get his name) was so helpful, quick to make all the arrangements and even paid for our taxi. We were spared from all the hassle of missing the bus and having to reschedule the transfer in Argentina. THANK YOU Hotel Lady Florence Dixie!!!

A friendly hotel in the centre of Puerto Natales. This was a last-minute booking as the ferry was delayed. It eventually left three days late and the hotel was very accommodating about allowing me to stay for additional nights. Also I developed a food allergy on the first night requiring a visit to the hospital at two in the morning and the receptionist (it's manned 24/7) was helpful in calling an ambulance for me. Room was good enough and the breakfast good too. Functioning wi-fi. No complaints at all.
