Beautiful hotel with Mountain Views. The hotel looks spectacular and is very clean. The room is very spacious. Location is perfect as it shares the same building as the mall. You can use the lift which brings you directly to the mall. The mall has shops like Uniqlo, ABC Mart and many more, including a food court with various food options. There are 3 washing machines in both the male & female public onsen area, however it is pretty difficult to get a chance to wash your clothes. The hotel seems like a popular wedding venue, however it does not disrupt the stay as the guests do not seem to linger in the lobby at all. There's a Nescafé coffee machine which you can help yourself to outside the public onsen, along with Kumamoto's fresh spring water tap for drinking. For parking, please avoid the carpark infront of the mall as it is expensive. If you're facing the mall, the hotel's carpark is at the left side basement of the mall. The hotel provides a discounted price at off-peak periods. It's best to leave your hotel before 12 noon. It is paid parking and there's a ticket machine at the basement entrance of the hotel. The hotel location is perfect as it is also very close to a station.
This Japanese onsen hotel met all my expectations. Every day after coming back, I could enjoy a hot spring bath. Inside, there's one hot and one cold bath, plus a sauna. Outside, there's an open-air hot spring. After bathing, you can choose from four types of ice cream and read Japanese manga for free. You can also pay for a massage. For the late-night snack from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, they offer matcha and hot chocolate, along with a vegetarian ramen that comes with a quarter-egg. Overall, I looked forward to returning to the hotel every day after my excursions. I'll definitely stay here again next time.
I was a bit worried about the room size, but it turned out fine. The beds were great, one large and one small, probably big enough for a family of three. It was a little inconvenient for the person sleeping on the inner bed to get up in the middle of the night. We could only open one 26-inch suitcase on the floor; the other had to go on the desk. Overall, for Japan, the room wasn't small. The hotel's hot spring on the second floor was quite relaxing. Breakfast was also good, with rice, side dishes, miso soup, bread, coffee, and sausage. The best part was the hotel's fantastic location; it's right across the street from Kumamoto Station, a five-minute walk. The service was excellent; the front desk staff always greeted us when we passed by, and they'd step out to bow whenever we entered the elevator, which almost made me feel a bit self-conscious about going downstairs.
Location is very convenient, mall, parks, bus interchange just opposite, hot spring also nice, hotel even provide free drink & ice cream outside of the hot spring resting area, also the free ramen during 930pm-11pm.
The location itself is practically impossible to get to without a car. Parking is conveniently provided, as it's exclusive to the ryokan. The surrounding atmosphere is very satisfying. However, you'll need to rent everything from towels to yukatas at the ryokan. Breakfast is simple. There's a nearby place offering free sulfur hell steaming, so you can just buy eggs and cook them yourself (50 yen). You can also make other sulfur-based dishes if you'd like! I was disappointed that there was only one hot spring, and the water wasn't particularly special.
Overall... Spend more and go somewhere better.
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and polite, with radiant smiles (the kind where even your eyes seem to smile). The front desk staff even came out to greet us when we checked out, offered to take commemorative photos, and helped us drive our car across the street. They greeted us again as we drove away; we truly felt their warmth and hospitality.
The room was also very large (super large for a pure Japanese-style room; I roughly counted over 25 tatami mats in the main space), and the view was fantastic, overlooking a river, with the sound of flowing water (of course, you had to open the window; the soundproofing was quite good).
The onsen (hot spring) is another highlight of the hotel. We took the hotel's free shuttle bus, which runs every 20-30 minutes from the hotel entrance. It takes you to the hotel's open-air onsen, which has five different types, all of which were amazing, though surprisingly few people were using them 😂😂😂 My friends also said it would be a worthwhile experience to stay here again.
A gorgeous place, a beautiful ryokan. The room is spacious and has everything you need. The staff are polite, helped us book a bus for departure, and drove us to the bus stop. However, they only meet us upon request, which is unclear how to do. At other ryokans, they send an email asking if you need a shuttle from the bus stop.
The kaiseki dinner is hearty and interesting. The breakfasts are also good.
The onsen with iron are unique in the entire village. We really liked the outdoor onsen with bamboo groves. It's especially pleasant to sit there in the evenings when no one else is there. We also used the private ones, which is an added bonus for families.
The picturesque scenery and outdoor onsen were delightful. The stay with dinner and breakfast included was absolutely fantastic value for money. Dinner was incredibly generous, and there was a wide variety of options for breakfast too. They even provided fireworks for the kids! My only slight complaint was that the air conditioning wasn't quite cold enough for my liking, but I still managed to sleep comfortably.
O quarto é Muito Velho e limpo, a janela é Muito larga, Quero ver o pôr-do-sol, o Mar é Muito grande, o rato é Muito confortável, MAS Muito pequeno, Muito desagradável, o rato é Muito confortável. FFourMega ChannelI love this camp.
the location is easy to travel to any other tourist spot , it is on the opposit conor of aso station, there is Lawson on the opposit as well. The camp is lovely both interior or exterior, the living room, the toilet, the shower are clean, the kitchen is lovely you can cook but you have ro clean them by yourself. The room are cheap but very clean.the staff are so nice.
If I visit aso I will stay at this hotel again.
EEntitiOverall, very satisfied.
This hotel is part of the same group as Sanmizuki and Shinmeikan.
Sanmizuki is adjacent to Fukayama Sanso, located halfway up a mountain at the source of the hot spring. Guests can enjoy free access to the forest hot spring at Sanmizuki. The hot spring quality is superb, with abundant foam.
The hotel provides free shuttle service. Before arriving, we contacted Ctrip to arrange for the hotel to pick us up from the bus station. The next day, we wanted to go to the Hirano Observatory. After gesturing at the front desk for a while, the hotel drove us there directly – a 10-minute drive! Walking would have taken an hour, thank you!
Additionally, the front desk helped us book return bus tickets at check-in (there aren't many buses from Kurokawa Onsen to Fukuoka/Kumamoto each day, so booking in advance is essential to avoid missing out!). This was very helpful.
The food was much more varied than at the neighboring Sanmizuki. The first night was kaiseki cuisine, and the second night was tomato and pork hot pot. Breakfast was different on both days, and the second day's meal included a complimentary drink. I recommend trying the perilla juice – it's delicious!
The room, although it's a 10-year-old hotel, is much newer than the neighboring Shanshuimu Hotel. The room facilities were okay; the bathroom had a slight odor on the first day, which the staff quickly fixed. However, the hairdryer was too old! Hopefully, they can replace it with a new one.

MM43507****Highly recommend! Each room has a private onsen, and we stayed in the 'Shizuku' room, which was incredibly spacious, spanning two floors. The open-air bath was on the first floor, which also had a tatami area where you could sleep, and a massage chair. The second floor featured Western-style twin beds, and both floors had restrooms. Having such amenities in Kurokawa Onsen was absolutely amazing! We'll definitely be back!
Oh, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Each room gets its own private dining room, offering excellent privacy and great service.
The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to and from the bus stop. The lady driving was incredibly patient and very kind 👍
LLei,taoOverall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.
GGuest UserThe hotel offers beautiful mountain views. We visited on a rainy day, and the misty, cloud-covered scenery was quite unique. Both the buffet breakfast and dinner were delicious, and we actually found them more enjoyable and relaxed than a traditional kaiseki meal.
GGuest UserSmall compact room with modern interior. Comfy bed and well ventilated with mini fan provided. They provided extra bedsheet so that the sofa bed is converted to another single. Big enuf for a teenager to sleep on. Space big enough to open just one huge luggage. Somehow the room feels damp but we just stayed for two nights so did not bother changing rooms. Lots of free parking available. Near Aso milk factory which is a must visit for delicious pastries and snacks.
GGuest User- The hotel is located in Shirakawa, only a 5-minute drive from Kurokawa.
- The hotel is decorated in a modern Japanese style, creating a relaxing atmosphere.
- The hotel staff is definitely the highlight of this hotel, all very friendly and courteous, especially Mr. Ho Chi Fai from Taiwan, attentive service and smiling. He was keen to provide assistance when we encountered an emergency situation, which definitely made the customer feel reassured.
- The hotel offers one night and two meals, whether it is dinner or breakfast, the staff will introduce each food in detail, but also pay attention to the speed of guests' meals, the time of serving is very well mastered, spa hotel fine dining experience.
- Real hot spring water is available in the large bath and the private bath in the room. Since the hotel has only nine rooms, the large baths are quiet and comfortable, where you can relax and enjoy the hot springs.
