Everything about this hotel was fantastic! The location is very convenient, with a tram stop and a convenience store just nearby. Getting around is easy, and they even provide a free shuttle to Sapporo Station, which was a lifesaver, dragging suitcases in the snow is no fun at all. It’s also super easy to get to the airport, as the airport limousine stop is right in front of the hotel. Overall, a superb choice for anyone visiting Sapporo!
The JR Tower Hotel Nikko is a solid choice for anyone looking for convenience in Sapporo. Its location right on top of the JR station makes getting around incredibly straightforward, especially if you have luggage. Since it’s connected to the shopping malls and the city's massive underground walkway, it’s easy to duck back to the room to drop off shopping bags or take a break without going out of your way.
The view from the high-floor rooms is probably the standout feature. Facing the mountain range, the scenery is impressive in the morning and equally good at night when the city lights are up. Inside, the room felt well-designed, particularly the bathroom. It’s quite large by Japanese standards, and the bathtub is actually big enough to relax in. They provide bath salts and powders, which is a nice touch, as is the Dyson hairdryer—it's a significant upgrade over the standard wall-mounted versions you usually find in hotels. Overall, it was a practical, pleasant stay where the location and the views really justified the choice.
The front desk was super friendly and welcoming and were so patient when we had trouble asking about parking. The hotel offered on site parking overnight. The room was nicely designed and clean, the bed was comfortable and they had onsens on the ground floor and basement. The highlight was definitely the buffet breakfast. The dining area was quite small so it was a bit crowded when we went but don’t be fooled, there was a huge selection and everything was so fresh and so tasty. Our favourite was the all you can eat sashimi and salmon roe and the freshly made tempura shrimp. I would return just for the breakfast 😛
Low-key loved this hotel! The location is super convenient—literally right next to JR Hakodate Station, so getting around the city and visiting the main attractions is really easy.
The staff were super nice and welcoming, always smiling and ready to help. The room was clean and comfy. There’s also an onsen and sauna, which was perfect to chill in after a long day of walking around.
You can also grab free amenities in the lobby, which is a nice touch. Breakfast was honestly so good and unlimited. There were fresh sashimi, salad, fried chicken, fish, pancakes, croissants, and the super tasty Hokkaido milk ice cream. And a lot more—just look at the photos!
Overall, great vibe, great stay. Would totally come back again. 🫶
Location is good. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is superb with lots of seafood selection. The onsen is on the top floor with a beautiful view.
Location: Within the airport international terminal. Short indoor walk from Arrivals. Very convenient.
Atmosphere: Calm, quiet and friendly. Warm welcome. Full of artistic features.
Rooms: Well appointed, spotlessly clean. Spacious. Quiet. Comfortable beds.
Amenities: Library. Tea House and Onsen
Breakfast: Lovely breakfast spread. Delicious ramen.
We would love to be back.
Location was excellent. 5mins walk fr station. Surrounded with shops, restaurants, convenient stores and the morning market is just 3 mins walk away. Can see the harbour n mountains fr hotel room. Beautiful place. Hotel staffs friendly n helpful to my enquiries.
Lots of seafood places to eat.
We had a good overall stay at Daiichi Takimotokan, a large traditional ryokan-style hotel. While the property is a little dated, it is well maintained and kept clean. The hotel itself offers plenty to do, including restaurants, a souvenir shop, simple arcade games, karaoke, massage services, a public onsen, and even a small reading area with Japanese books. You can easily spend time exploring the building without needing to go out.
The location is very convenient. It is just outside the main (short) shopping street and within walking distance to Jigokudani, making it easy to explore the area.
Our stay included breakfast and dinner buffet. Dinner had a wide variety of options, including popular sashimi selections and steamed snow crabs, along with both Japanese and Western dishes. Breakfast was a simpler spread but still satisfying.
We stayed in a Japanese-style room and found the futons comfortable to sleep on. As we visited during winter, the room had central heating only. At times, we cooled the room by slightly opening the window to let in some cold air.
Yukata robes are provided in the room (or you can choose one that fits you at the lobby), and you can wear them around the hotel when heading to the onsen, restaurants, or arcade.
The public onsen area is spacious and features many different pools with various functions, so you can take your time and enjoy the experience. Just remember to wash yourself thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the onsen pools. Unfortunately, we did not try the outdoor onsen despite it being open — we were a little intimidated by the winter cold!
Overall, we would recommend this hotel, especially for first-timers who want to experience staying in a traditional ryokan.
Tip: There are direct buses to and from the hotel from New Chitose Airport and Sapporo. The bus stop is only about 50 metres from the hotel entrance, which made walking in the snow much easier for us. However, the service runs only once a day, so be sure to check the schedule and plan your itinerary accordingly.
Super stay at this traditional onsen inn! It’s an easy 5 minutes walk from the tram stop and it is a peaceful and hospitable place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included (you have it in your room, the staff come to roll up your tatami 30 mins before - we just went to the onsen during this time) which was traditional Japanese style and delicious. The onsens are not too big but there are outdoor and indoor sections and perfectly adequate. The staff look after you warmly and we loved our experience of traditional Japanese culture here. Oh, and it’s near the Botanical Gardens where we saw monkeys bathing in the onsen.

Great
LLiduoxiliaolinuolisiI'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!
GGuest UserThe hotel management is really poor. The public hot spring always has a sticky film on top, and there were foreign objects in the large pool where people lie down, almost cutting my skin. The worst part is that these things can't be removed. The day after soaking, my feet were incredibly itchy, probably due to a fungal infection. People with tattoos and whatnot were also soaking, and no one seemed to care. At 9 AM, staff members were walking around the hot spring area in outdoor snow boots, which was absolutely disgusting. And the funniest thing is, you have to take off your shoes when entering this hotel, and you're not allowed to wear slippers inside the entire hotel. I won't even mention the insufficient floor heating; walk around in socks for a bit, and white socks turn grey. Luggage can be wheeled through freely, so just imagine how dirty it must be. The dinner buffet was mediocre. I ordered a glass of red wine and had a headache all day afterward. The breakfast buffet the next day, however, was decent. I probably won't go back and hope they seriously improve their management. Don't tarnish the Tsuruga brand.
TTaidijunThis was my second stay at the Park Hyatt Niseko, and it seems the front desk staff was new this time. They made several mistakes, like sending us to the wrong building and getting our room direction wrong – quite unprofessional. On our third day, breakfast at the Chinese restaurant was poorly arranged; we were seated right next to the cart for collecting dirty dishes, which completely ruined our appetite. Otherwise, it was as excellent as ever! The housekeeping ladies were exceptionally good. After a day out, we returned to find our beloved teddy bear neatly placed on the pillow with a blanket over it – so thoughtful! And the teppanyaki was delicious as always!
GGuest UserHoshino Resorts' service is delightful! This hotel offers great value for money and is conveniently located very close to the JR station. The most pleasant surprise was the hotel's exclusive shuttle bus service connecting to all the main attractions in Hakodate. The breakfast was also excellent. Overall, everything was perfect.
GGuest UserI absolutely love Hanabishi Hotel — I had the best 2-night stay here. The hotel is quiet with no large tour groups, and I really enjoyed the traditional feel and relaxing vibes. I tried all of their room types, and my favorite is the futon room with a private onsen. The futon is very comfortable, and the room itself is incredibly spacious.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even assisting me with arranging taxi service. The location is convenient, only about a 10-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. I also loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner set — they truly pampered me like I was the queen of the world.
The public onsen is beautiful and huge. I will forever choose to stay here whenever I’m in the area.
ZZandoudouThe hotel's location is excellent, offering views of the Sea of Okhotsk's drift ice from both the rooms and the lobby lounge. The lounge is a great perk for a relaxing vacation, providing complimentary snacks and drinks from noon until 11 PM. Dinner was a bit underwhelming, and the menu repeated frequently during my two-day stay. After a hot spring bath, free milk is available, and guests can also pick up a complimentary ice cream from the bakery at the entrance each day of their stay.
GGuest UserThis hotel is super new! It has free parking, and there's a drugstore and convenience store right next to it, which is incredibly convenient. I really love that the room has a microwave and a washing machine. The main light in the room can be adjusted from white to warm light, and the brightness can also be controlled! This hotel is absolutely fantastic!
GGuest UserFacilities: A bit old but generally clean. The toilet seat and everything else were acceptable, not as bad as some online reviews suggested.
Hygiene: Clean, no complaints here.
Ambiance: Traditional Japanese atmosphere. It's not an 'Instagrammable' spot, but it's very comfortable and pleasant.
Service: Decent, neither good nor bad. The server auntie at mealtime was very friendly and approachable. However, there was an old man at the front desk who was a bit mediocre; they didn't help with luggage, which is something that could be improved.
CCindy1274I stayed at Hotel Global View Hakodate for three nights during a self-drive trip. The hotel offers its own parking, which is convenient, although there is a fee (around 1650 yen for three nights).
In terms of value, the hotel is very affordable and comes with both breakfast and onsen, which is a great bonus. The room was also quite spacious, and I appreciated having a washing machine in the room, with coin-operated dryers available downstairs.
However, the biggest downside for me was the bedding. When I lifted the sheets, I found some hair and lint, which was not very pleasant. As it was late and we were tired, we didn’t report it immediately. During the night, both of us felt quite itchy while sleeping. It might be due to the material or the sheets being worn out, as they felt a bit rough and not very skin-friendly. We ended up wearing long sleeves and long pants to sleep, which helped.
The next day, I gave feedback to the front desk. They mentioned that all rooms use the same bedding and offered a thicker blanket instead, but we decided not to take it.
Overall, the hotel offers great value and good facilities, but I do hope they can improve the cleanliness and quality of their bedding.
GGuest UserThis was my third stay, and I chose this hotel again because my previous two experiences were so good. However, this time was truly unacceptable. We arrived at the hotel around 11 AM. My daughter had injured her leg while skiing, so we asked the middle-aged woman at check-in if we could check in early. She said yes, but we'd have to pay for an additional day – what a rip-off! The funny thing is, they told us we could wait in the lobby until 3 PM without paying. The lobby was nice, so we decided to wait there instead of wasting about 1700 RMB. But then, to our surprise, we saw the staff taking our luggage and other belongings to our room much earlier, while we weren't allowed to enter. Crazy! On top of that, the Wi-Fi signal this time was incredibly poor, almost unusable. Reporting it to the hotel didn't help either; we had to use our own data. So, this stay was truly, truly, truly disappointing! Attached is a photo of my daughter in a wheelchair, and they still wouldn't let us check in early. That middle-aged woman was so inhumane!
