"This stay is value for money! Enjoyed their clean bathrooms and well-maintained rooftop restaurant. Receptionists are helpful too. You can book airport transfer for departure on the spot at 1000 rupees. I have nothing but good stuff to say about this lovely hostel, tucked away in a quieter area amidst the bustle of Thamel. Even met friendly roommates who are respectful of each other’s space and privacy here. This adds a little something special to my short stay here in Kathmandu. Thank you for providing a comfy space."

"This is the second time I stayed at Ramada Encore in Thamel. I was not wrong to choose it again. Absolutely everything is good here ... the staff, the room,the breakfast (oh my, sooooo good), the location, the friendliness of every single employee, from the door in. A special recognition to Nikhil in the reception, whose service and support with a sincere smile is as comforting as the sunshine on an early autumn morning. And to the staff and therapists on the spa where I took a couple of massages that were superb.
Kathmandu is a beautiful, yet hectic city. Thamel even more, so to have this oasis to come to after a long day wandering around or trekking is something to treasure. In my case, this is even more meaningful as I left all my stuff to go hiking on the Himalayas for several days, coming back to the hotel with the certainty that I was going to be happily and truly welcome. Again, I was not wrong.
Thank you for making a difference and for understanding what the word service means. I will certainly choose you again and again every time I come back to this unique Kathmandu I learned to love.

"My room wasn't huge, but it was very clean. The staff were excellent, and they offer a free airport shuttle service – just contact them in advance, and they'll be waiting for you at the exit with a sign with your name on it. It's also very close to the airport. The next day when I checked out, I didn't have a taxi app, so the staff helped me call a car and even exchanged 100 RMB for me to pay for the taxi. After the taxi arrived, the staff helped me with my luggage all the way to the car. Highly recommend!"

From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and I was greeted with warm smiles and refreshing drinks. My room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and offered a stunning view — every detail was thoughtfully arranged for comfort and relaxation.
The hotel’s amenities exceeded my expectations. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with a wide selection of fresh, flavorful options to suit every taste. The housekeeping team maintained everything perfectly throughout my stay. I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the excellent Wi-Fi connection, making it ideal for both leisure and work.
What truly sets this hotel apart is the level of hospitality. Every team member went above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay — from recommending local attractions to assisting with transportation.

"The Hotel Barahi Kathmandu is in a great location, walking distance to great souvenirs in Thamal, tourist sites like the Garden of Dreams and the former Royal Palace.
The hotel staff were so friendly, engaging and helpful. The hotel has a pool up on level 7 with great views of Kathmandu. The only flaw with the pool is it is surrounded by the restaurant, so no one swims in it.
I had a suite the room was beautiful, very happy with the cleanliness and room service. The only flaw with the room is that it backed on to the service area for staff who were all working very hard, but there was banging and clanging all night and morning."

"Small boutique hotel with amazing service, the people are so helpful. Shree Jana at the reception is very cheerful, she always greetings the guest whenever come in and out of the hotel. My flight was early past midnight, they gave special price to stay at the hotel till 3 hours before my departute. Breakfast also good, serves lots of fruits.
Location is close to all the shops and restos.Recommended for travellers who are coming to Kathmandu and want to stay around Thamel.

DDeep1997I had a wonderful 8-day stay at Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights and it truly felt like a home away from home.
From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, professional, and consistent throughout my stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was calm and welcoming—perfect for both relaxing and unwinding after a busy day.
A very special appreciation goes to the reception team, especially Alon and Shreesha. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, always greeting me with genuine warmth and taking care of any requests promptly and thoughtfully. Their kindness and attention to detail really made my experience stand out.
The hospitality here is exceptional, and it’s clear the team genuinely cares about their guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again.

Even when I was about to take off, they wished me good luck with a small scarf. I highly recommend staying here. I think I’ll be staying here again when I travel to Kathmandu next time.

FFrances521The hotel is 1 km from the bus stop. After booking, I received two emails. One of them provided some important information. I had a phone number, so I called the hotel to pick me up after I got off the bus. Within three minutes, they arrived on a motorcycle. The room was okay—not too picky at this price point in rural Nepal. The hot water was good, and shampoo, towels, soap, and toothbrushes were all provided. You had to ask the owner for a hairdryer and hot water. The service was friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was good. However, the hotel is 1 km from the main street, which can be inconvenient for dining out. Be aware of this when booking. Also, the cheaper rooms don't have air conditioning, but they charged me an extra 40 RMB to get one with air conditioning.

GGuest UserThe room made a decent first impression and did the bare minimum. But, it quickly became clear that it’s best suited for a very short stay. The bed was comfortable enough. Overall, the room is fine if you’re just passing through, but anything longer starts to feel like stretching it.
Staff presence around the hotel was limited. They clearly run on a lean operation, which can go either way. The guard in front of the elevator stood out in the best possible way and added a genuinely warm, human touch, which helped balance things out.
At check-in, I was given two complimentary cocktail coupons for the upstairs bar, which immediately lifted my spirits. This was a place I had enjoyed many times before and often recommended to friends and family. I had good memories of the atmosphere, the food, and the general vibe, so I went in with high hopes. In the past I had written raving 5-star reviews of their restaurant food and amazing service!
Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t live up to those expectations. What should have been a simple, enjoyable night out unraveled into confusion and unwelcoming interactions. Small moments piled up, the mood shifted, and it became clear that the experience had gone off the rails. Rather than force it, my group and I decided to take our time and money elsewhere. Sometimes you read the room and move on.
I returned to the hotel later that night and stayed over. Took a hot shower in the morning, loved the smell of their body wash, btw!

All in all, it’s disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed and freely recommended lose its consistency and warmth. I’m no longer comfortable recommending it, and I’m not sure I would choose to return.

NNenanMy flight arrived in Kathmandu at 10 PM, and immigration took forever, so I didn't get out of the airport until almost 11 PM. I had emailed the hotel in advance to request an airport pick-up. I honestly thought no one would be there given how late it was and the lack of a contact number, but I saw my name card among the crowd waiting for cars at the exit. As a first-time visitor, this was such a pleasant and heartwarming surprise!
The car took me to the hotel, which is located in the bustling, central Thamel area. Right downstairs, there's a 'Chengdu Skewers' restaurant. The hotel itself is one of the tallest buildings in the vicinity and boasts a glass-enclosed restaurant on the 12th-floor rooftop, with a pool and spa on the 11th floor – quite a bold design! Breakfast was good, and the service was attentive. The location is convenient; a rickshaw takes just 6 minutes to Durbar Square.
The room size was adequate, but I was a bit disappointed to only get a room on the 4th floor after requesting a high-floor room. Also, the bathroom had a strong, foul odor that permeated the room even with the bathroom door closed. This backflow smell seems to be related to the plumbing and hygiene and definitely needs improvement. Other than that, everything else was great!

The property is beautiful and full of character, making it an excellent choice for travelers who appreciate traditional Nepali architecture and culture. The hotel has done a wonderful job preserving its heritage charm, creating a peaceful and authentic atmosphere that feels very different from a typical modern hotel.
As an eco-friendly property, the hotel does not provide air conditioning or a refrigerator in the rooms. However, I did not find this to be an issue at all, as the weather was pleasant and comfortable throughout my stay.
The staff were outstanding. Everyone was warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, always greeting guests with a smile and making me feel welcome from check-in to check-out.
Breakfast was simple and fairly standard, without a huge variety of choices, but everything was fresh and enjoyable. The yogurt, in particular, was excellent and definitely worth trying.
There was only one minor issue in my room: the ceiling fan seemed to run at the same speed regardless of the setting, so even the lowest level felt quite strong. I never mentioned it to the front desk because it was not a major inconvenience.
The biggest area for improvement would be the Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately, the signal was quite weak and unreliable, especially for anyone who needs a stable internet connection for work or communication.
Despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The beautiful traditional design, eco-conscious concept, relaxing atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality more than made up for the small inconveniences. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an authentic Nepali experience in

GGuest UserI stayed for 2 nights, it didn't feel safe for me as a solo woman traveller. One the first night around 11pm there were 3-4 men shouting and laughing and knocked my door. I was scared and called the reception. The phone wire was not connected to the phone, i have to hold it tight to the phone while i was speaking. It was a terrifying experience. When in emergency even the phone wasn't working! the receptionist took 30 min to for the men to calm down. The next day morning the receptionist told me they men moved out. But i saw them in the evening in the hotel. Didn't feel safe. Again, the men, shouting and aloud. Still i couldn't sleep there, awake whole two nights i stayed there, didn't feel safe. The place was clean. Location was good.

KKISMATHThe hotel location is excellent, fantastic breakfast,staff cooperation everywhere was excellent.
This hotel is not a four star hotel according to the Nepal hospitality...it clearly shows it's a three star hotel and all the facilities are related to three star or below.
The rooms are small,if staying with a couple or with a girlfriend is fine but if it's staying with two individuals it is very difficult moving and keeping the baggage, and other things.
The windows are fixed and can't open.
I will say again that the staff were fantastic.

EEK CanadaSmack in the heart of Thamel. Great retreat in the mayhem of it all. Awesome room and service. A few loud bars in the area but they close early, a little later on the weekend. Bed and hot water awesome. Has cable T.V. to watch movies or catch up with what's going on in the world. Worth the money you pay to stay at this place
