"The two indoor and one outdoor onsen are lovely, set right next to the stream. However, the private bath was oddly closed in the morning. My room unfortunately faced an eave, so there wasn’t any view to enjoy."

"What a perfect service with nice and kind owners. The owner can pick you up at the bus stop for free if you want. The price of stay was cheap and reasonable and they provide you with Japanese traditional style meal with reasonable prices as well. I would recommend this Ryokan. I wish I could visit this again."

"Gostei realmente de queimar as primaveras com elevado teor de ferro nesta ryokan: tive dor na garganta há cerca de três semanas antes do caminho, MAS ele recuperou logo após o primeiro banho. Gostamos também de que as casas de banho familiares sejam gratuitas se forem vagas (na noite não houve problema), o pessoal está atento, obrigado, o alimento é delicioso, e há Mais do que o suficiente para um homem. No entanto, recomendaríamos um pequeno-almoço japonês, porque o frigorífico de ovos no queimador não é muito conveniente.No entanto, tudo era delicioso.No que se refere às bebidas para o pequeno-almoço, só havia café Da máquina de café. Mas há sempre chá verde no quarto (temos problemas com o copo quente, por isso trouxeram-nos um termómetro). "Pros- spacious villa, quality bedding and large private indoor onsen( see picture 13). We also like the public outdoor onsen in the sister ryokan nearby. There is a little cafe there you can buy drinks and coffee, run by an adorable old couple, very nice and polite. We spent a lot of time there just chilling and listening to the music. Cons- Living room: we were only able to book the western style villa as it’s a little last minute trip. The living room is basic, bland, with sofa, instead or tatami. Our room 512 is next to the car park. Parking lot in front of your main door is not very pleasant. Food : just soso. Nothing extraordinary. See picture. No horse sashimi, the presentation of the steak is really ordinary - disappointing. Perhaps because we had such an amazing meals in the previous ryokan this became a massive letdown. Dinner served in a large public dining room, lack of the privacy and intimacy ther ryokan provide ( we had private dining room in another ryokan 野之花during this trip). I got to see other couples but also feeling like we are being watched. Service- served by young people, not much attentiveness you would expect in traditional ryokan, lack of the warmth and ritual. Reception- 3 star at best. A basic room with uncomfortable chair while you wait to be checked in. We arrived around 2:30pm, and was told that check in can only start at 3pm, and please wait. So we sat at the hard chair and forced to watch the promotional video until 3pm. Conclusion - 3.5 star ryokan, not the most exciting or exclusive villa we have stayed. Maybe it would get better once the trees grow thicker and staff better trained. The sister Ryokan nearby has better feel of environment and feels more established."

"An absolutely wonderful experience.
The staff at the ryokan were incredibly polite and always ready to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, we were provided with traditional attire, pajamas, tabi slippers, bath amenities, and a small welcome treat with matcha and coffee. We also asked at the front desk if they could give us a ride to the bus stop after check-out, and they kindly said yes, of course. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. At first, we were planning to explore several other local onsens, but after experiencing the ones at the ryokan, we felt completely satisfied. There are separate baths for hotel guests (men’s and women’s), baths open to both guests and visitors (also divided by gender), as well as a private onsen. One of the onsens also has a sauna.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were both impressive—delicious and very generous in portion.
The surrounding grounds are stunning, perfect for peaceful walks. This ryokan is a bit further from the main cluster of inns, but that was exactly what we wanted—to enjoy quiet walking.
At night, our futons were laid out for us, adding to the authentic experience. The only reason I deducted one star is the very bright green light on the ceiling that stays on all night and can’t be turned off or covered. I didn’t have a sleep mask with me, and the ryokan didn’t provide one, so I had a sleepless night. It was quite unpleasant.
That said, I still highly recommend this ryokan—it’s an unforgettable place to stay."

"Hotel and public bath area a bit aged. Good Large room. The 2 hotel onsen area need to drive or walk 5 -10 mins its not very convenient"

"Retains its old and rustic charm in spite of the clean and comfortable interiors. Room was really spacious, onsen (especially the outdoor one) was very nice. Portion of kaiseiki breakfast and dinner portions were honestly a bit too much for us, and some of the sashimi was rather chewy. But overall still a nice experience!"

"Traveling as a family of four, we booked this inn primarily for its private onsen, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. The inn boasts 8 private baths, so there's no need to rush or share – you can soak whenever you like, which is especially convenient for families traveling with seniors. We took turns trying out several different styles, both open-air and indoor. After soaking, our skin felt incredibly smooth. The sound of the stream in the valley and the birdsong was incredibly therapeutic. The stay included two meals, dinner and breakfast. The Bungo beef BBQ for dinner was substantial, and the elders thoroughly enjoyed it. The onsen egg and local miso soup for breakfast were also very authentic. It's about a 3-hour bus ride from Fukuoka; the mountain roads are winding but offer beautiful scenery. Our whole family unanimously rated it highly. This night at Kurokawa Onsen was the most relaxing part of our trip. It's perfect for families who want a quiet hot spring experience without being disturbed."
