"We absolutely loved it here. The hotel is located literally at the Moon Fen. The famous «running on water» scene from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Hongcun is ver beautiful city. The hotel is a small cosy and beautiful hotel with efficient and friendly staff. It was the perfect location for us when exploring Hongcun and nearby activities and attractions like Mukeng Bamboo Forest, Huangshan Mountains and Xidi Town. 10/10 recommend."

"Very polite and friendly customer service, felt very welcome when we reached. Staff was quick to respond to our requests. The entire place was tastefully designed in modern Chinese style but retaining the roots or history of the complex. The bar and tea room was also stylishly furnished for a relaxing evening. I believe there are movie and KTV rooms at the basement across the restaurant. Along the way to our room, there were several artistic features, adorned with Japanese Maple and reed. The colour scheme and overall feel was relaxing and soothing. Room was spacious with a garden patio, large indoor tub for onsen style soaking and bath, shower area, large bed and living area, and a separate room for storing luggage and clothes. We had a quiet room at a corner of the compound."

The space is quite spacious, and it is very suitable for families or friends to stay together! The public area is equipped with charging stations, restaurants, tea rooms, meeting rooms, and gyms, which are very suitable for group building gatherings. It is a super luxurious terrace for picnics and barbecues under the bright starry sky, unbeatable and romantic. There is also a swimming pool. Jumping into the cool pool in summer is really enjoyable.

"The stay at Hongcun Zuoxian Art Hotel was remarkable. Received a call from the host (小李管家) while on the way to confirm my arrival time and needs. She even helped me arrange a driver to pick us up from the Huangshan North train station at a reasonable cost. Driver (李师傅) was friendly and gave us lots of tips while visiting Huangshan and we ended up using his services throughout the 3 days we were there. When we arrived, 小李管家 was right at the hotel entrance waiting for my for us and checkin into our rooms was a breeze. Rooms were clean with all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay. Most impressive was the hotel layout and design which was very artsy and minimalist for a place like Hongcun. It was simply amazing! Me and my family especially loved the lobby and the coziness especially in front of the fireplace during winter. Hotel Location was within walking distance (200m) to Hongcun Ancient village and around 40mins drive to Huangshan mountain and around 1.5hrs drive to the Huangshan North Station or Tunxi Ancient Street. Will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and relatives if they are planning to visit Huangshan one day!!!"

However, a little disappointed by the overall quality which is below my experience when compared to staying at other banyan tree properties. Little things like the clearness, maintenance of the property where paints are peeling etc. the most obvious is poor choice and quality of the breakfast ."

UUsuário convidadoWe stayed here for two nights and it felt like visiting family :-) The hosts were so heart-warming and caring and did everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We can totally recommend Shangsharuoshui Homestay and we will definitely come back. The hotel is brand-new and beautifully designed. The room was well equipped and perfectly clean. All amenities were provided. For the second day we were asked about our wishes for breakfast. The hosts also organised a reliable and cheaper taxi to Huangshan North. Location couldn't be better, very quiet and just 2 min walk to the moon pond. Again, it's hard to imagine finding hosts which are more friendly and generous than at this place. What a truly remarkable stay ❤️ Thanks again for the fare-well gifts!

Nosso hospedeiro era Muito bonito e útil, ele VEIO buscá-lo e nos deixou no ônibus no final Da nossa estadia.Ele é Muito amigável e NOS DEU algumas dicas bonitas para visitar as aldeias circundantes.Ele TEM um cão Muito bonito e um gato Muito bonito :) Só um comentário negativo: a janela do quarto está do lado Da estrada principal, então você Pode ouvir todos OS carros passarem.Mas Mesmo assim, um Grande estadia!

UUsuário convidadoMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise. The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site. One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days. At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us. Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

The whole facility is fun to walk around; there are many places to just sit and relax while watching the beautiful landscapes. I was really surprised when I saw a bunch of bunnies and geese in some areas—they add a nice touch to the atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The rooms are good, with a nice view of the mountains. The food is simply amazing, and the breakfast was beyond all expectations. The staff were very nice and helpful, and overall my stay there was very, very enjoyable! I hope to visit you again when it gets a bit warmer.

LLancerottiNicolaThe Homestay is located not far from two of the entrances to the village of Hongcun, and one of the owners came and picked us up at the gates, and offered to carry our luggage. The house is very real, they have three lovely pets and are extremely welcoming and helpful. I speak a little Chinese so communication was fairly easy, but with the translation apps I guess it would be as easy. The owner was kind to explain a couple of things about the village and to give us helpful informations on our trip to Huangshan of the following day. She even made a phone call to ensure we could buy tickets at the departure of the cable cars. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is what we were looking for. Kindness and true people, and a charming room facing an extremely quiet (the village is loud of tourist shops) inner yard

We went from a sad and boring hotel in Beijing to this fantastic location and suddenly the whole trip was more fun and much more interesting. The host met us at the entrance to Hongcun and carried our luggage in the back of his little vehicle as we followed him around quaint buildings and through a narrow cobblestone walkway which was perfect for walking and pretty impressive to drive thru without scratching anything. After the beautiful walk we came through the most beautiful circle archway and into the cutest courtyard. We rented the room with a queen bed downstairs and 2 full beds up in the loft. The rooms were so cute we had to hide our luggage to do a full video tour to show our families before unpacking. The beds have mattress toppers which helped soften up the beds for us Americans. The host was very helpful and I would suggest getting WeChat to translate if you don’t speak Chinese. I don’t but it was easy to communicate. I would definitely stay at here again. Highly recommended!

GGippiThe property is located in the heart of Hongcun, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the historic village on foot. As guests, you’re also entitled to discounted entrance tickets: just let the ticket office know you're staying here and they'll give you 50% off tickets. Room was exactly as in the photos, spacious, perfectly clean and featured a very comfortable bed and many accessories (bottled water, tv, haircomb, hairdrier, etc). The building’s traditional Chinese architecture was absolutely beautiful and on a rainy day, it created a wonderfully romantic atmosphere we will treasure forever in our memories. The staff were exceptionally helpful. They kindly met us to guide us to the hotel (since Apple Maps and AMaps can be a bit confusing in the area), provided umbrellas free of charge and even bring us back to the parking lot when we left. We had an excellent stay and highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Hongcun!

CCharlie M DeanZhang Mansion is a peaceful oasis from the hustle and bustle of the ancient village, its decor and furnishing is fitting with the historic setting but with modern, clean and comfortable amenities. Would definitely stay again and would strongly recommend to others! Hotel manager was very communicative, but you need to have WeChat. They can communicate in English by message with you. The rooms were stunning, service was excellent and the communal areas were beautiful and comfortable. Hotel breakfast was freshly made and they were able to accommodate our requests. Some of the rooms require ascending steep stairs, so if you have accessibility needs it would be best to inform the hotel in advance. Bedrooms are comfortable and cosy. The addition of the tea ceremony area is brilliant. The mattresses and bedding were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were clean with good pressure hot water. The hotel also put us in touch with a honest and reliable driver that we used for transfers from the bullet train station as well as a trip to Huang Shan (yellow mountain).

UUsuário convidadoThe Inn is located inside the Scenic area, the room is clean but relatively small especially the bathroom. The soundproofing is poor as you can hear clearly what’s happening at the next room. The common area at the ground floor is a bit messy. Quite dark at night. The only plus point is the Inn is located inside the Scenic area. Actually the Inn’s location is a bit difficult for a traveler to find, if the owner hadn’t come out to fetch me, I wouldn’t have been able to find the Inn at all. Besides that, the pathway at the Scenic area is made of stone, full of potholes and quite dirty, thus it’d be a nightmare to pull a luggage all the way from the bus station to the Inn. The Scenic area has become too commercial and super crowded, it is impossible to have a nice and quiet stroll to enjoy the scenery. The only time you can have a quiet walk is before 6am morning. I myself will definitely not coming back.
