"We chose Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, Udaipur specifically to celebrate our anniversary, but the experience turned out to be disappointing. Before arrival, we had written via email requesting a complimentary upgrade (only if possible) and shared that it was our anniversary. The hotel assured us that they would do their best, mentioning that they would decorate the room and arrange a cake. However, upon arrival, there was nothing prepared. Later in the evening, a staff member came and asked when we would be going out so that they could decorate the room. We adjusted our plans and gave them time, hoping it would make the occasion special for my wife and child. Unfortunately, even after that, no proper arrangement was done and there was no cake as promised in the email. The location is quite far from the main city, making it less convenient. The property also did not feel very photogenic as expected. Food quality was average with limited variety. During breakfast, the restaurant staff was largely inattentive — no one checked on us or asked if our child needed anything. The only exception was Mr. Gulshan and one female staff member who were helpful during dinner. Before this, we stayed for three days at Trident Udaipur, where the service and food quality were excellent, which made this experience feel even more disappointing in comparison. Overall, we chose Taj to make our anniversary special, but it did not meet expectations associated with the Taj brand."

"I had a very good stay at Aurika. My room was very large and comfortable. The restaurant service was also good and offered a qualitative buffet too. Location is slightly out of Udaipur (20 min taxi), I recommend to arrange taxis with the hotel as Uber drivers might not easily reach it."

"Overall stay was average, first night dine at the terrace lounge which was amazing vibes although food was average, next day breakfast was shocking, smallest selection I ever saw !! As well chair cushion were damaged and dirty, seems table cloth were not change forever. I have paid decent price of non season period still quality was not upto expectations, room were super clean, staff was humble at front desk and senior F&B managers but low staff were not trained to do deal with guests."

"I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. We had booked 3 rooms after looking at the images we expected a real hotel but were in for a shock once we arrived at the hotel. We had to park our car at least 2 kms outside as cars are not allowed in the old city lanes so you will need an auto every time u enter and exit the hotel. Trip to and from the parking will cost u 100. 00. We arrived at the hotel main gate via auto-rickshaw. The entrance is through a very narrow lane with houses on both sides and a gutter just outside the main gate of the hotel. You will smell the stink every time u arrive and leave as there is only this one door. Ad u enter u will encounter bikes parked on either sides, rubble, stacked pile of plywood. The reception is a single desk. They do have an elevator lift although very tiny. We had booked 2 lake facing rooms and 1 non lake facing room. As we entered the lake facing room we were shocked further with the view and the so called balcony which is approx 1. 5 ft in width and 3 ft in length n not really enough or even safe to step outside. The view gives you a glimpse of the lake pichola but is very much hindered by shacks and ruins and houses. The non lake facing room opens up to houses on either side. The rooms looked clean and so did the toilets but it lacked all basic amenities as that of a storage etc. Later on in the evening we noticed cockroaches and ticks all over the marble floor. The housekeeping was shoddy as were the rest of the services. The main doors are a security threat as they are really thin n don't really offer or give the feeling of security. The restaurant upstairs is a far cry away from the photos posted by the hotel. Firstly it stinks. There are pigeons everywhere stinking up the place. The table cloth and chairs are stained so much that it is difficult to know what color they are. The person serving did a good job though. We were really frightened to have a meal so we ended up eating outside mostly. You can see the lake view from the restaurant but again lots of ruins, houses in between. They have advertised this place with photos which make it appear like this hotel is bang on the lake and also very fancy but don't get fooled friends. It is absolutely not worth the money spent. Luckily we were sightseeing most of the time so we used this place just to shower and sleep."

"In the first day the bedsheets were dirty but that was quickly resolved. If you're expecting a decent gym like I was you need to know it's really not well equipped, very few dumbells. Also the TV in the room is very small for the size of the bedroom. Breakfast had 95% Indian local options but apparently 95% of the guests were locals too, so all good. On the positive notes: staff was great and the bedrooms were super spacious!"

"Had a fantastic stay at Historia Royal! The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the real highlight was the rooftop swimming pool—it has an amazing view of the city. The staff were polite and quick to help, and the food at the restaurant was delicious (especially the Indian dishes). Great location and value for money in Udaipur. Highly recommended!"
