We took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. The location of the hotel is good, easy access from main road to get big bags to it and also to go around the ancient city both during day and night time to enjoy all the landmarks. Missing signages make it a bit difficult to find the hotel at first. Also, while we had paid for a bigger rooms the room barely had walking space. It had no luggage storage space or cabinet. The washroom and room floor was not cleaned. Staff on the other hand are very friendly and willing to help with all the questions - on local travel, places to see, vegetarian food, etc. They find a way to help to the best. All in all was a good experience and would have been better with some adjustments.

Chegando à antiga cidade de Datong à tarde, a primeira surpresa que nos acolheu foi encontrar o Renyi Inn. Com seu pátio antigo e elegante, vigas esculpidas e lanternas vermelhas acolhedoras, senti uma paz interior no momento em que entrei. Os donos, uma família de três, são humildes e amigáveis, conversando de forma calorosa e atenciosa, o que nos fez sentir em casa. O mais impressionante é que a família é uma verdadeira 'bênção para os animais de estimação', transformando a pousada num pequeno paraíso animal. Tratam cada bichinho com ternura e paciência, e é por isso que todo o pátio está cheio de vida e energia. Ao entrar na pousada, um papagaio cinzento estava no balcão da recepção, calmo e vibrante, nunca tinha visto um papagaio doméstico tão grande! Ao lado, dois papagaios menores tagarelavam, sem medo de estranhos, cheios de vida e adoráveis. Fora do quarto, havia um pequeno pátio com duas mesas de chá. Depois de um dia exaustivo de 'turismo militar' pelos templos antigos, quando estava a ponto de chorar de cansaço, sentar ali para tomar um chá era extremamente agradável. No lago de peixes ao lado, mais de uma dezena de carpas koi de pelo menos dois a três quilos nadavam graciosamente, coloridas e com movimentos elegantes; na beira do lago, duas tartarugas, uma grande e uma pequena, rastejavam lentamente, tranquilas e terapêuticas. No canto, num cativeiro, um pequeno esquilo cinzento corria de um lado para o outro, ágil e travesso. Ao cair da noite, ver as luzes refletidas na água do lago, ouvir os pequenos sons dos animais, a fadiga da viagem parecia ser suavemente acalmada por essa atmosfera gentil, e meu coração estava cheio de paz e cura. Pensei que essa beleza já era perfeita, mas mal sabia que na manhã seguinte, uma nova surpresa nos esperava – dois pavões com suas caudas magníficas passeavam tranquilamente pelo pátio. 'Wenqing', em azul e branco, e 'Xiaofeng', com suas penas verdes-esmeralda, caminhavam com desenvoltura – sim, isso mesmo, eles até tinham nomes! Os ocelos em suas caudas brilhavam, como se tivessem vestido todo o céu estrelado, lindos como se tivessem saído de uma pintura antiga, por um instante, não consegui distinguir se era uma pousada ou um reino secreto. O Renyi Inn é muito mais do que um lugar para ficar; é como um pequeno refúgio escondido na antiga cidade. Pessoas e animais vivem em harmonia, warm e curativos, adicionando inúmeras alegrias suaves e pequenas à esta viagem.

This hotel combines the convenience of modern high tech with the spiritual beauty of traditional culture. The rooms themselves are constructed around courtyards that give a sense of what life might have been like in Datong many centuries ago. In the lobby and in the rooms, murals decorate the walls with elegant designs of birds or flowers. The cabinets, bench, and floors made of wood and the countertops made of marble work together well and draw on design choices that are classicly, universally appealing. At the same time, the entire room is wired with the amenties of modernity. The toilet has a seat warmer and a light that turns on when you lift the lid so that you can find it in the middle of the night. Similarly, there seem to be motion-sensitive lights throughout the room that light up when you walk in the middle of the night so that you can find your way around. The water in the shower and the bathtub is able to get very hot (which I love!) and has high pressure. There is also a top-of-the-line hair dryer. It's the perfect blend of high tech and traditional amenities! If I have one complaint it's that the room was so hot that I had to open my window to let in the freezing air, and still the room was hot! That shows how effective the heating system is! The serivce at the hotel is also extraordinary! All the members of hotel reception are very friendly. And they send someone to your room shortly after you settle in to give you a platter of fruit, which was fresh and seasonal and artistically chosen it seems. They also have 24 hours service in case you need anything. My friend went into the lobby early in the morning shouting about coffee, and the staff came out quickly to make him a cup. The hotel is also very clean. The blankets, the pillows, and the sheets are as white as snow. The floors are free of dust and dirt and smudges. Everything in the shower and toilet room was scrubbed clean too. And the shower drains smoothly without pooling any water, showing how well it is maintained. Finally, the location is very convenient. You can see that for yourself by just looking at the map. But I would like to add that just outside the gate of the hotel, you can see the Prince's palace, which is beautifully lit at night. What's more, my favorite restaurant in downtown Datong (I think the restaurant is translated as BeiWei Family Garden or something like that) is less than 5 minutes walking from the gate. There are also multiple shops for buying vinegar or wine or shaji snacks. In less than 10 minutes, you can also walk to all the major commercial streets. I love the location of this hotel!

Wow, I loved this homestay! The lively and kind lady who runs Yishui homestay is a good English speaker and very patient, so foreigners as well as Chinese will feel at ease staying here. It is a very hospitable atmosphere! Location is in the pedestrianized part of the old city, very near the Drum Tower. Therefore, there is lots to see/do/eat while walking nearby. But the location is also not far from the driving road, so it was an easy, short walk to meet my driver when going out to the hanging temple, the grottos, and the train station. The facility is an old-style courtyard home, with a beautiful wood-beam ceiling. The interior rooms are completely renovated and modernized, with great water pressure, all necessary toiletries, an excellent quality hair dryer, slippers, and super air-con/heating! (It was -3 one night during my stay, but I was warm and comfy in that room!) Clean towels are brought daily. Breakfast was included in my stay and I was very happy with the food. It is an ample Chinese-style breakfast, and you can inform the cook if there is some food you don't/can't eat. Although the breakfast was plenty of food for me, I saw a guest ask for more baozi, and he was kindly given 2 more. Fresh fruit was also offered for free several times during my stay. Within a 5 minute radius (walking), there are many eating places for lunch, dinner, snacks, and tea/coffee. There are also numerous historical sites (dragon wall, temples, ”mansions”, the Catholic Church, etc.) in easy walking distance. In fact, there was so much to see nearby that I was not able to see everything! The homestay looks very charming, and many, many people were often seen stopping to take photos in front of the homestay, as well as on the back wall of the homestay, which is next to a Chinese Opera stage--it is especially lovely at night! It is a 10-15 minute walk to the ancient city wall, where you can climb up and enjoy the sights, or visit a (Chinese) bookstore within the city wall, under one of the arches. My Beijing friends, who stayed at a nearby hotel, were equally impressed when they came to visit me in Yishui homestay, and they got the WeChat contact so that they can return to stay at Yishui homestay on a return trip--so easy to get there by fast train from Beijing!

Nossa experiência geral no hotel foi excelente. A localização é muito conveniente, perto de áreas turísticas e restaurantes. Os quartos são limpos, o chuveiro é perfeito e o atendimento é muito caloroso. Recomendamos com certeza.

The staff upgraded us to a suite room upon check-in. Also provided daily fruit platter and 梨汤. Supper of 刀削面，egg and warm milk was great! Special commendation to 郭六女 for good service. Parking convenient.

It is two kilometers away from the ancient city of Datong. You can achieve sightseeing freedom by scanning an electric shared bicycle downstairs. If there is a laundry room for facilities, it would be great, because in summer, there are more clothes that are sweaty and not washed. There is no laundry room or drying room for long stay, the hotel can change the operation strategy. There are also bath towels that are disposable, although convenient but very thin, and the experience is not good.

Ótimo lugar para se sentir em casa em uma área muito agradável do centro histórico. Quarto amplo e bonito, confortável e aconchegante. E, por último, para mim, o melhor deste lugar é a equipe acolhedora e muito prestativa. Já estive aqui duas vezes e com certeza voltarei quando mais amigos vierem à China e quiserem visitar as cavernas incríveis e a atmosfera incrível do centro histórico.
