Lisbon Old Town
It’s been a long time since I was last in a youth hostel, and as a now 45 year old man there is probably a reason for this. Arriving late on the Tuesday night with fond memories of dorm parties and tequila slammers, I was greeted by what I initially thought was captain Jack Sparrow, but who actually transpired to be a very friendly chap who helped us to navigate the intricacies of the main entrance. Door buzzed, suitcases lifted up the stairs and ugh who let mum and dad in looks absorbed, we were handed our keys by a lovely member of the team alongside vouchers for two free shots. Enthusiastically we were informed that the bar was open until 1am that night, although we had missed the pub crawl for the evening. I’m flattered I guess, however we decided to give the shots a miss in favour of a nice sleep. Yup, Father Time catches up with us all… We had a private double with a shared bathroom, and although very small it was comfortable enough. The pillow has perhaps seen better days, but the A/C was a life saver! Spending the days walking around town and doing some gentle exploring, the nights were largely spent for myself at least in the bar area downstairs. It’s a small but perfectly functional area, and in all honesty wasn’t the screaming mess of teenagers away from home for the first time that I had been expecting. At 3 euros a pint I was certainly very happy to sit and read whilst various cool young things did their thing in the background. Declining participation in the pub crawl for a second time, I was tempted with the tapas tasting but plans for the night changed due to friends arriving a day early and diner reservations being made. From a comfort point of view, our bathroom was shared between three double rooms I believe on the third floor, and this was never an issue. I attribute this to the fact that we were likely on very different schedules with us going out for the day and back for the night, as opposed to the perhaps more night based activities of our fellow residents. Bedroom like I said small, but hey, who cares, we weren’t here to sit in a room all day. The breakfast was absolutely fine, and for 5 euros a day you really cannot complain. All in all very happy with my stay, though peeking into an open dorm room one day my god I wouldn’t have survived the week unless you could take 25 years off me! Good job though overall Sant Jordi, and I’d certainly consider staying again - safe, friendly and somewhere I’m sure 20 year old me would have had a blast!

The location was perfect. It is a calm and nice area with restaurants and mini supermarkets around it. I felt safe and cozy to stay there. The metro green line as you can find from Google maps is just near and there is also a bus stop as well which makes it really convenient to go anywhere. The common area and the room were both clean and seemed clean. The bathroom has body wash as well which was nice. When you check in you get a magnetic card that allows you access inside the hostel, into your room and that also keeps your locker under your bunker bed safe and closed. The people at the reception were always nice and kind and fyi you can have breakfast (toast, coffee, juice, croissant, cheese, etc..) for 4€ which can be very convenient.

I would like to make it clear that the accommodations at this hostel were as expected, taking into account that currently it is basically what one is looking for, when it comes to stays for a short period of time. But I missed clearer and more accurate information in the booking confirmation email. Because when I arrived at the hotel door and pressed the doorbell dozens of times without getting an answer, it was very stressful! My phone is from Brazil and I hadn't bought a chip from Portugal. I had to seek help from third parties, unknown people, thank God I found someone who helped me, but even getting into our room was a long way! Something that should have been very simple became almost a nightmare. Therefore, I would like to suggest that when making a book with a client, make it clear in the email the step-by-step instructions on how to enter the hotel and also the room! Make it clear to the person that everything is done remotely and we never even know who we are talking to. Not everyone will get there with working internet on their cell phone, and making a phone call is out of the question due to the price it would cost, as it would be International! Just a suggestion, so it doesn't happen to other people. Regards

The place they are located is very convenient, the rooms and beds are clean, the only problem is that some of the beds, like bed 5, it is right next to the door and when I open the door it is not easy to open the storage space under the bed does not open at the same time . The storage cabinet bucket won't lock even though I've used the lock. There are not enough tools for hanging clothes in the bathroom, so please bring your own plastic bags to prevent your clothes from getting wet, and the push-button faucet is completely inconvenient and water will flow out if you don't push it.

The hostel's name says it all - this hostel is ideally located in the heart of Lisbon within walking distance of most of the major monuments the city has to offer. My girlfriend and I allocated 2 days to Lisbon and 1 to Sintra and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of the 8-bed dorms. The rooms and amenities of this hostel exceeded our expectations as our 1st foray into hostel traveling. The staff were extremely kind as well and were helpful in helping us plan an early morning (4 am) transport to the airport. There were a few small details we wish we could change. For one, we had a bit of bad luck in that one of our roommates was sick and spent most of the night coughing relentlessly keeping most members of our room awake. Additionally, despite meeting many friendly faces, the hostel did not feel as openly social as other hostels we stayed our throughout our two week Europe trip

We stayed in Vila Garden from 17th-22nd March! We were in room 103 and my parents in room 104,both rooms were absolutely spotless, with comfortable beds,tv,kettle, mini bar, lovely soft towels, fabulous shower, well, everything really to make for a fabulous stay! The staff were lovely,it was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and we returned from our day of sightseeing to find a bottle of champagne in our room, such a lovely touch! It’s a little out of the city but the metro is nearby and very easy to use! €6.60 gets you a 24hr ticket to use in the tram, metro and buses,a different ticket gets you to Sintra for €5.10! Amazing value to travel around! There’s no lift in the guesthouse so if stairs are a problem ask for a room on the 1st floor before you arrive. Lovely cafe next door for breakfast etc.Lisbon is truly amazing and we’d definitely return and visit the sights we didn’t get chance to see! Thank you Vila Garden!

Honestly, thats the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. There is AMAZING breakfast (for free) and even pancakes with lil faces on them (and trust me that makes ur mood for the day). Also there are daily little activities- movies, sangria for 1€ and free refills, the big boss lady cooks soup and pasta for everyone almost every night. I stayed for 5 nights and it was worth it! Also everyone is super friendly and kind. There’s nothing bad i can say! Compared to other hostels in Lisbon its out of range!

Booking with a group of 18 people isn't easy. However. Miguel and his team at Green Heart Hostel made everything possible for us to have an amazing stay. We were in contact over months changing dates, organizing rooms and more. Throughout the organization, the Hostel was always calm, friendly and helpful. The stay itself was without any disturbance. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms and showers as well. A big plus is certainly the location of the Hostel. It is placed quitely but in walking distance to the City Center. We can only recommend this hostel for your stay in Lisbon!!

There is a lot to say about this hostel but I'm not going to say just bad things because I stayed for two months It's a spacious place with a swimming pool near a train station, a wonderful beach for surfing and there are a lot of shops around The reception maintenance team is renewed quite often but generally they do their job well, they are people who come from afar for the most part, they are looking for recognition and a better quality of life. now we are going to talk about the big problems of this place caused by poor management of a surely negligent owner and one or more incompetent and irresponsible Manager During my stay here I saw five assaults, mostly on girls who work for the hostel. I never saw the owner or the Manager come to see anything or try to comfort his team, I had to intervene myself on aggressions inside the hostel to make the attackers leave we had to leave the place about ten days because of bedbug's On our return we had no compensation for this and the manager asked us to pay again the tourist tax that we had already paid, we should never have returned To newcomers, guests, or workers you can now have your own opinion before coming to these places think carefully many people left very quickly because they did not come to Europe to relive the same scenes of violence as in their country of origin. Cheers and enjoy your trip
