I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

This is a fantastic hotel. Due to flight issues, I checked in late at night, but the lobby was incredibly warm and comfortable, with a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. The environment is truly outstanding. It faces a large park, offering lovely views, and the transportation is convenient as it's right in the city center and very close to the airport. The lobby fireplace was cozy, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, treating guests like family. The room was very clean and tidy, hygienic, and comfortable. It was spacious, and the bedding was excellent – clean and very comfortable to use. The bathroom was great, and the room overall was very spacious, neat, bright, and grand. Everything felt relatively new. I would definitely stay here again next time. It offers great value for money.

The room was spacious and well-equipped with pots, a range hood, and a toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before. The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about 10-15 minutes on foot to the botanical garden entrance. I also walked to the city's bus interchange. For the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which is also about an 8-minute walk away. The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. Ctrip recommended I change my room type booking to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, but this might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without having to switch rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the next morning. After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and send the code to your email. The only minor issue is that a casino in Christchurch is right next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually quite good (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone who was drunk on my way back to the hotel.

This hotel is about an 8-minute walk from the Intercity bus terminal. Its convenient location puts major tourist attractions, supermarkets, and restaurants all within walking distance. What I appreciated most was how kid-friendly it is. It started with them gifting my children bird plushies (worth about $15) at the souvenir shop, and there's also a kids' play area. This was a lifesaver when the kids got tired of sightseeing and perfect for burning off energy before bedtime. Regarding amenities, they lean heavily towards sustainability, so if you want to be extra comfortable, it's probably best to bring your own. They provide a hairdryer, iron, towels, shampoo, and coffee/tea, but no water, toothbrushes, bathrobes, or slippers (which might be standard for hotels in New Zealand). Tissues are provided but not replenished when used up. The central heating didn't seem to work very well, which was a shame, but we managed with the extra blankets they provided.

The hotel environment and facilities are very new and clean. It's located right next to the airport, just a few minutes' walk away, which is super convenient for travelers catching a 6 AM flight, eliminating any transportation worries. Also, because we were concerned our rental car wouldn't have enough space for all our luggage, I emailed the hotel to ask if we could store our bags a few days before our check-in when we arrived in Christchurch, and then pick them up when we officially checked in days later. The hotel quickly replied by email, confirming it was possible and free of charge. They even arranged for my family to stay in the adjacent room for easier care. This was truly fantastic! 😀

This is a truly characterful hotel with spotless and tidy rooms, a wonderfully rich breakfast, and exceptionally polite and attentive staff. I am immensely grateful for their support.

The hotel was truly amazing and a wonderful place to call home for a few nights. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything! Oven, microwave, dishwasher, stove, utensils…everything! We were pleasantly surprised that there was a washing machine and dryer too! There is a working fireplace and the views were stunning ❤️Ours was the two bedroom villa; one room has a bathroom attached with a jacuzzi tub and the other bathroom is not attached to the second bedroom. This bathroom has a shower only, no tub. The second bedroom is actually two super singles joined together so you could possibly request for that configuration. We found that the shower stall in the smaller bathroom has a poor design as water flows from the shower through the grooves between floor tiles and makes the whole place wet. This was perhaps the only down side to this place. The good at the restaurant is reasonably priced and wonderful quality. The location of the hotel is strategic for trekking to the Rakaia Gorge and also for driving to Edoras (or Mt Sunday) where LOTR’s filming took place.

Stayed here for 11 nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained throughout my stay. The location was very convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. The room was cozy and provided everything I needed for a longer stay. The staff were friendly and helpful whenever assistance was needed. After staying here for nearly two weeks, it really started to feel like a home away from home. I checked out today and was actually a little sad to leave. Thank you for making my stay in Christchurch so enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Sudima Hotel Christchurch was an absolutely excellent choice during my trip to New Zealand's South Island. What impressed me most was the clean and modern interior design that greeted me as soon as I entered the room. The fresh and fluffy bedding allowed me to perfectly unwind from the fatigue of travel. The warm and friendly service from the staff made for a pleasant experience throughout my stay. From check-in to guidance on local attractions, their thoughtful consideration made me feel truly valued. Furthermore, the quality of both breakfast and other meals offered at the hotel's restaurant was superb, ensuring satisfying dining experiences. In terms of location, it boasts excellent accessibility to Christchurch city center and major tourist spots, as well as convenient transportation to and from the airport, making itinerary management very easy. With impeccable cleanliness, friendly service, and a superb location, there was nothing lacking at this accommodation. I would not hesitate to choose it again for my next visit to Christchurch.

You can enjoy the direct view of the azure bay from your bed, with the Southern Alps stretching in the distance. The sunrise over the sea streams directly into your room in the morning, and at night, you can hear the gentle sound of the waves. The guest rooms are spacious, with separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and the whole room has a modern, minimalist design. Since it's a relatively new hotel, the facilities are brand new with no signs of age or unpleasant odors. The soundproofing throughout the room is excellent, completely blocking out road noise. 3. **Comprehensive and Thoughtful Amenities** The hotel features an outdoor heated swimming pool, perfect for relaxing after water activities. There's also a small gym, convenient for a quick workout during a road trip. The daily buffet breakfast offers a rich variety of options, including local New Zealand sausages, fresh fruit, and made-to-order eggs – all delicious. The 24-hour front desk service is gentle and accommodating, and they even give a complimentary teddy bear souvenir to guests with children, a truly heartwarming detail. The hotel has its own free parking, so self-driving guests have no worries about parking. The Wi-Fi signal in public areas is stable. 4. **Pleasant Dining Atmosphere** The restaurant and bar, with their floor-to-ceiling windows, offer direct sea views. Enjoy a glass of local wine in the evening while watching the sunset; the ambiance is absolutely perfect.
