"My room wasn't huge, but it was very clean. The staff were excellent, and they offer a free airport shuttle service – just contact them in advance, and they'll be waiting for you at the exit with a sign with your name on it. It's also very close to the airport. The next day when I checked out, I didn't have a taxi app, so the staff helped me call a car and even exchanged 100 RMB for me to pay for the taxi. After the taxi arrived, the staff helped me with my luggage all the way to the car. Highly recommend!"

"Lovely stay in Hotel Thrive. The hotel is located just off the main tourist hub in Thamel, it’s a very short walk and the hotel has security 24/7. The main courtyard is beautiful, a true tropical calm oasis away from the busy streets of Kathmandu. The rooms are spacious and modern with all the amenities you would need alongside daily housekeeping. The gym is compact but with good, well kept modern machinery and fantastic views across Kathmandu. The breakfast is delicious with ample choice to suit everyone. I would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay again when we next visit Kathmandu."

"The Hotel Barahi Kathmandu is in a great location, walking distance to great souvenirs in Thamal, tourist sites like the Garden of Dreams and the former Royal Palace. The hotel staff were so friendly, engaging and helpful. The hotel has a pool up on level 7 with great views of Kathmandu. The only flaw with the pool is it is surrounded by the restaurant, so no one swims in it. I had a suite the room was beautiful, very happy with the cleanliness and room service. The only flaw with the room is that it backed on to the service area for staff who were all working very hard, but there was banging and clanging all night and morning."

"Absolutely loved the hotel and stay! Cosy clean rooms, great vibes, food and passionate service (from security guards to housekeepers at every level)! Breakfast buffet has great selections and very tasty menu, service staff is extremely attentive to your needs and service deserves great commendation (every single one of them)! It was a bit difficult to read the names off the badges, managed to only saw Sabina’s and Arun’s name but there are just so many more staff whom I’d like to show appreciation from front desk to concierge and really everyone! They do not just serve you but engage with you through conversations making you feel at ease and like at home during the stay. Liked how the laundry system works and also the gym which are both 24 hours. No complaints at all and I would definitely like to stay here again when I am at Nepal the next round. 10/10 recommend and you will have no regrets!"

"Mi estancia en el hotel Mulberry en Katmandú fue en general muy agradable, pero tengo una queja importante que me gustaría mencionar. Cuando seleccionamos el hotel, se indicaba que el traslado al aeropuerto era gratuito, lo cual fue una de las razones por las que decidimos hospedarnos allí. Sin embargo, a pesar de haber comunicado nuestra intención de utilizar este servicio tanto al hacer la reserva como tres días antes de nuestra llegada, nos informaron que había un cargo adicional para el traslado. Afortunadamente, pudimos solucionar el problema a través de la página web donde hicimos la reserva, pero me preocupa que esta información aún esté disponible en su sitio. The whole hotel system seems to be created with foreigners in mind. I stayed for 2 nights, while my family stayed for 3 nights. I originally booked the 2 nights through Trip.com. When I wanted to add an extra day, I was informed it was better to book it again online. At that time, I was in Nepal for 3 days and my phone was being repaired in Hong Kong, so I didn’t have access to my usual email or digital wallet. I had Nepali cash, but the payment system wouldn’t allow it, and I was denied the option to add more nights directly at the front desk. I tried booking again using my temporary phone, but the credit/card wouldn’t allow it—possibly because the phone and location were new and my digital wallet couldn’t be used. The only solution was asking a friend to book the additional night for me. This experience made me feel that the system is not friendly to Nepali guests and that they may strongly prefer online foreign-currency-style payment methods rather than Nepali rupees. I also tried to get the Nepali rate. It was around NPR 12,000–15,000, while the online rate was significantly cheaper. Based on the current currency conversion, the price difference felt like it could be about 3,000–5,000 rupees less online. This also made me feel they may not truly support Nepali pricing equally. The front desk staff were sometimes helpful, but they often didn’t seem genuine. Some staff seemed reluctant and not truly welcoming or happy to assist. In contrast, the only people who felt consistently happy to see me amd my family were the housekeeping staff and the guards. About the room it’s a bit small. I took a long warm shower, and after a while the water started leaking toward the bedroom corridor. However, there were also positives—despite being in Kathmandu, the tap had good water flow and the water color looked clear, not yellowish (and not as low-flow). Overall, the stay didn’t feel welcoming to me or my family. I’m not sure if this is because the system is designed not to cater well to Nepali guests, or simply because the staff attitude was “blah.” Would I stay again? It feels like 50–50. My honest advice is: if you’re not Nepali, you will love it. But if you are Nepali and want to feel genuinely welcomed, you should think carefully—because you could spend the same amount or much more less at a family-owned business and likely feel much more respected and welcomed.

This is a newly built hotel, and it's rare to find such clean bathrooms in Nepal. It's located in a quiet spot at the entrance of Thamel, right next to the Garden of Dreams. While it's a bit far from central areas like Durbar Square, it's a great place to stay if you're looking for peace and quiet at the hotel. Since it seems brand new, the room was exceptionally clean. The bathroom was also spotless, so I felt very comfortable using it. The breakfast area on the 8th floor offered a lovely view. The front desk staff were polite, but during breakfast, I noticed other guests were asked for their egg orders, whereas I wasn't (perhaps because I had already taken scrambled eggs). Also, coffee (other than instant) at breakfast was an extra charge.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment in Thamel, Kathmandu. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of Thamel, with restaurants, cafés, shops, bars, nightlife, and everything you need just a short walk away. At the same time, the property itself has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, which made it a great place to come back to after exploring Kathmandu. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, the room had good Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and having a private bathroom was very convenient. Everything was arranged in a simple but practical way, making the room feel like a good place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. What really made my stay special was the staff and hospitality. Everyone was friendly, polite, welcoming, and always ready to help whenever I needed something. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel more like a welcomed guest than just another customer. Their helpful attitude and warm Nepali hospitality made a big difference to my overall experience. I also really enjoyed the rooftop area. Another thing I appreciated was the overall value for money. You get a great location, comfortable accommodation, helpful staff, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a welcoming atmosphere without paying luxury-hotel prices. For travelers who want to explore Kathmandu and stay somewhere convenient, comfortable, and social, this is a very good choice. I would definitely recommend Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment to anyone visiting Kathmandu, especially backpackers, couples, solo travelers, families, and people looking for a convenient place to stay in Thamel. The combination of location, comfort, friendly staff, and good value makes this property stand out. Thank you to the entire Funky Monkey team for making my stay so enjoyable. The hotel is 1 km from the bus stop. After booking, I received two emails. One of them provided some important information. I had a phone number, so I called the hotel to pick me up after I got off the bus. Within three minutes, they arrived on a motorcycle. The room was okay—not too picky at this price point in rural Nepal. The hot water was good, and shampoo, towels, soap, and toothbrushes were all provided. You had to ask the owner for a hairdryer and hot water. The service was friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was good. However, the hotel is 1 km from the main street, which can be inconvenient for dining out. Be aware of this when booking. Also, the cheaper rooms don't have air conditioning, but they charged me an extra 40 RMB to get one with air conditioning.

Location is amazing in Thamel, super easy to walk around for food and many things Staff at front desk was very friendly and helpful And there is a cocktail coupon every day Only breakfast was too late because my schedule to leave at 9 am but it was ready at 8.30 am and two days in a row. Overall it is very nice hotel to stay when you go to Kathmandu

Good hotel. They offer airport transfers, but you need to exit the building first and then call the greeter. There was a strange incident during breakfast when a hotel employee entered my room without permission. I hope this doesn't happen again.

Awesome! Very very satisfied with our stay at Pomelo. There’s location is great, we are just a few minutes walk from Thamel, 20 minutes walk from Sayambhu, 10 minutes taxi from Balaju… Now the service, it was the best part in the inn, the staff is really very friendly and accommodating, thank you Gyanu and Kamal who helped us for everything during our stay. We booked two rooms as a family, but we got one big family room with separated rooms, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was big and proper to use. The breakfast is the best one we had in Kathmandu, fresh and simple. There is a rooftop, from where we took a bowl of air in the evenings and mornings, really nice.
