This old dog picked this place as a first-timer to Changbaishan because on paper it reads like a dream:
✔️ 5-minute walk to the Changbai Mountain VIP entrance
✔️ Hot springs inside the compound
✔️ “Eco-exchange” — which I later learned refers to exchanging comfort for character development
Location? Prime marrow bone. 🦴
Reality, however, is a scenic winter obstacle course.
The hotel is thoughtfully scattered across three separate buildings — one for check-in and breakfast, another for hot springs, and because suspense is important in life, the Food Plaza lives in yet another building.
In winter.
On ice.
With wind that slaps.
Not exactly age-old-dog friendly. I waddled. I shuffled. I negotiated with my knees. At one point I believe my soul lagged behind and had to catch up.
To offset this Arctic triathlon, the staff are available 24/7 on WeChat, responding faster than I can type “why did I choose this hotel?” Efficiency deserves a respectful tail wag. 🐾
Now let’s talk Food Plaza, the hotel’s redemption arc.
The food is genuinely scrumptious, warming, and emotionally supportive after being bullied by Changbai winds. Takeaway is allowed — which means you carry it yourself. Eco-exchange again. This dog fetches his own dinner. 🥸
Then there’s the hot spring schedule.

⚠️ Now, the bone that refuses to go down smoothly.
Despite having a relaxed stay, I felt continuously pressed for a 5-star review — on departure day from the first meeting in the lobby to gentle reminders all the way up the bus.
At that point, it stopped feeling like hospitality and started feeling like an exam I didn’t sign up for.
It made me sad, actually — because it suggests staff performance may be chained to guest reviews like sled dogs pulling corporate KPIs.
Trip.com, if you’re listening:
no guest should ever be pressured to review.
The moment reviews are pushed, ratings stop being honest and start being decorative.
This old dog is an independent reviewer.
I don’t bark on command.
I don’t roll over for stars.
And the harder the push, the more my paw hovers over the lowest rating out of pure principle.
Still — despite the ice, the walking, the soul-searching — the location alone makes this a smart base for Changbaishan first-timers.

"The hotel is very clean but when I was there with my family, there are a lot of constructions ongoing near the hotel and it was raining every single day when we are at Changchun.
The hotel staff is very nice and efficient esp when we had only 30 mins to board our train to head to Changbaishan. The hotel staff, Fu Yang, is able to cater for us and understand that we are rushing for time. We managed to board our train successfully thanks to Ms Fu Yang.
The breakfast options were rather limited. There was a signage saying that we could have how we wanted our eggs. We requested for the chef to cook it; the chef booked for us unwillingly and gave us an attitude. From the previous guest reviews, there are many positive reviews with regards to the buffet hence we decided to pay for the breakfast buffet.
Overall, we will still stay in the same hotel if we visit Changchun once again. :)
Side note, the train station was rather far away from the hotel. However, DiDi works fine too."

"We stayed in the family deluxe room, the 'Dinosaur Water World Stone Age' themed room. The room design was quite unique and my child loved it, but the cleanliness was subpar. The floor felt sandy when you walked on it, and there was a constant layer of white dust on my phone screen and the wall light switches, which appeared every time we moved even slightly. I'm not sure what it was.
There must have been a lot of dust mites on the bed. My child's legs were itchy and had small bites, and since it's not summer, it couldn't have been mosquitoes – it had to be dust mites. I felt itchy all over too while sleeping.
It seemed like the room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, just superficially tidied up, without proper wiping. Perhaps it's because the room is large and has two floors, but in terms of hygiene, I felt the value for money wasn't good. We just stayed for two days for the child's happiness.
The hot springs and water park were nice, but the water in the water park was too cold. Initially, we weren't allowed to bring towels from the hot springs area, nor could we wear slippers. The water park didn't provide towels or slippers either. My child's lips turned purple from the cold. Kids don't mind when they want to play, but it was really cold for adults, and we worried about the child getting sick. Also, walking without slippers was very slippery, and I was afraid the child would fall. Later, we saw people wearing slippers, so I went to the front desk to ask where we could get some. The front desk said that management had just changed the rule, and now we could bring towels and wear slippers.
Then, there was a sushi stand nearby. I asked if it was chargeable (intending to ask if it required cash or room key payment), and they said yes, it was chargeable. Immediately after, I overheard a male and female hotel staff member laughing, as if implying, 'Do you expect it for free if it's not chargeable?'"

LucywanThe Yunshuilanting Hot Spring Hotel is excellent. I traveled to Changbai Mountain with my elders and stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room with two large beds. The room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Both the indoor and outdoor environments of the hotel are beautiful, and it's not far from various attractions, yet very quiet. The transportation is convenient, making it easy to get anywhere. The hotel staff are very kind, attentive, and enthusiastic. They offer an outdoor hot spring and free parking. There's also a fantastic barbecue restaurant right next door! 😄 Their breakfast is also good. Highly recommended.

Excellent! Blue Horizon has been around since I was a kid, and even after all these years, it still maintains its 5-star standard. It feels like staying in a Nordic forest. The restaurant offers wild mountain vegetables with dipping sauce – the kind only true Changbai Mountain locals would recognize. You absolutely must try it! However, I'd suggest they make the portion sizes smaller; there's too much, and it'd be a shame to waste those delicious wild vegetables. The complimentary activities and attractions are also fantastic and definitely worth visiting!

ZhumengchanglaoBefore I list all the issues encountered during this trip, I'd like to commend the following staff members (whose full names I unfortunately don't know): Butler Xiao Song, Duty Manager Xiao Gao on August 6th, and Duty Manager Xiao Wang on August 7th. I was satisfied with their service attitude and efficiency; my dissatisfaction lies with the hotel's management and some other personnel. Below, I will truthfully recount my experience:
1. **Check-in on August 5th**: We checked into the hotel before 3 PM. Out of three rooms, only one twin room was ready. We went for dinner and returned around 4:30 PM, only to be told another room was still not ready! After urging, it was cleaned within 20 minutes, allowing everyone to finally check in.
2. **Incident on August 6th**: After returning from an outing, my wife slipped and slightly twisted her ankle in the room. The reason was a large amount of water on the floor (photos will be attached), clearly left after cleaning and not dried promptly. Upon immediate complaint, the duty manager arranged an upgrade to a suite (a serious issue, but the solution was acceptable).
3. **The Most Serious Issue**: Around 8 PM on the evening of the 6th, the air conditioning in the suite felt ineffective. Maintenance was called, and we were told the AC was fine, just that the room was large and it would cool down eventually. By 10:30 PM, it was still ineffective. When we requested another check, we were informed that the AC in this room (3052) was indeed faulty! It couldn't be repaired that day! Given how late it was, I only asked the duty manager to quickly arrange another problem-free room so we could rest, and I didn't pursue further complaints. Since I don't know the name of this maintenance worker, I can't name him, but his behavior was appalling! The hotel should bear full responsibility for this.
I'd also like to state that I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member and usually enjoy staying at Marriott brand hotels. However, due to the points mentioned above, my experience this stay was extremely poor! This is not the service standard or staff quality expected from a five-star hotel! For all these issues, I reserve the right to continue complaining and seek compensation. I urge both Trip.com and Marriott Group to take these issues seriously and provide timely feedback!

Right at check-in, we were given two warm bottles of Changbai Mountain mineral water. The room was standard, and the heating was very strong – we had to sleep with the window open. The hot springs, however, are in a separate building, and you have to walk through the lobby on the ground floor to get to them. The lobby and the breakfast area on the second floor weren't warm enough, making it easy to catch a cold after coming back from the hot springs. The hot springs themselves are communal and only have a few small pools; it's not really worth going unless you just want a quick taste of Changbai Mountain's hot springs.

Its overall style is a understated yet elegant New Chinese design, creating a wonderful ambiance. The room was incredibly spacious, the bedding comfortable, and the balcony offered distant views of the mountains and forests. I absolutely loved the room's aesthetic.
The breakfast selection was rich and high-quality, featuring both Western and Chinese options. The staff were warm and polite, check-in was efficient, and they were responsive without being overly enthusiastic. Getting around the resort area was convenient, and the environment was quiet and serene, perfectly embodying a relaxing vacation vibe. It's definitely my top choice for a Changbaishan getaway, and I'm very satisfied overall. Highly recommend staying here!

**Highlights:** The hotel's service was truly impressive; all staff members were enthusiastic, responsive, and proactively offered travel advice and asked about our itinerary. The backyard features an adorable petting zoo where you can get up close with sika deer, alpacas, and other small animals, making for a relaxing and therapeutic stroll – perfect for families with children. The hotel also boasts its own volcanic hot springs with both indoor and outdoor pools, which are incredibly comfortable and soothing after a day of hiking.

Opening the window, you're greeted by a stunning, serene, and healing view of the snow-capped mountains. The location is absolutely fantastic, with an exclusive corridor leading directly to the ski equipment hall. No need to carry your gear; you can truly ski-in and ski-out, saving effort and hassle. After skiing, head straight to the Gokurakuyu hot spring, where the aroma of cypress wood fills the air. With both indoor and outdoor pools to choose from, the romantic experience of soaking in the snow is maximized, and all fatigue melts away. The butler service is meticulous, providing thoughtful care from check-in to check-out. The breakfast offers a rich variety of Chinese and Western dishes, ensuring you start your ski day full of energy. The hotel is well-equipped with a supermarket and a Japanese izakaya, fulfilling all your vacation needs in one place. The room was incredibly spacious and offered great value for money. It was a shame the hot spring was out of order, as we couldn't experience it. The park area was completely dark at night with no lights, making it hard to see anything, which was a bit of a downside. However, the room itself was excellent and very clean. The pool was too shallow for a good swim, and it felt a bit crowded with people taking lessons. On the plus side, the changing room and shower facilities were decent, and there was a nice hot spring pool. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, perhaps due to the off-season, with not many good options. I would still come back if I have the chance, it's worth a try.

Guest UserThe hotel overall exceeded my expectations. First off, the location is superb, right next to the 'Zhe You Shan' shopping complex and Changchun Film Studio Museum, literally just downstairs. Manager Bobo and the young lady at the front desk were both incredibly warm and attentive. They added an extra bed to the suite's living room free of charge, and the air conditioning issue was resolved very quickly. We even received a gift box of Zongzi and a fridge magnet. The suite itself was spacious with plenty of amenities. The afternoon tea and happy hour included in the executive benefits were also quite good. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

I forgot to take pictures of the room but I love how huge it is, perfect for groups and families to stay. The host is also very responsive and helpful. He picked up and dropped me off from and to the Railway station, just tell him what you need and he does his best to comply to the requests. The foods are also very local and tasty.
The hotel is just few minutes of walk from Wanda Ski Resort. You can also take a taxi from the hotel to Wanda for more or less than 10rmb. The hotel is just near from several restaurants and stores. I even rented my ski suit from the store just near the hotel for only 80rmb/day with a deposit (refundable) of 300rmb which is way cheaper than renting ski suits from Wanda.
The hotel is in Guosongcun and the place is perfect for those who want peace and quiet, away from too much crowd. Overall, my stay was absolutely pleasant and if I come back to Changbaishanxi again, I will definitely book the same hotel 👍👍👍❤️
