This might be the best place to stay near Mt Fuji! The service is incredible and the staff is very friendly! We booked a dome and loved the sauna, bath, dome, kitchen… everything! The BBQ dinner and breakfast were outstanding and the detailed cooking instructions were very clear. The bed was very comfortable as well.
Only one complaint - gas grill is located inside the kitchen and the room fills with smoke. Best to open the sliding doors to let the air circulate and also clean the grill before turning it on.
The staff helped us book taxis, which helped a lot, too!
Service staff were efficient, although queueing to trade your keys for your shoes slowed things down. (Understandable, because this is also a day-trip onsen, so the hotel needs to ensure all tabs are covered before letting guests go.)
Facilities were old but well-maintained, although my room window couldn't be closed without force. Wide variety of baths to choose from, and convenient hours.
Note that there is no shampoo, conditioner or body soap in guestrooms, as this is an onsen facility - all soaps and bath amenities are provided in the onsen area.
Several onsite restaurants providing many food options, which made up for the lack of vegetarian-friendly options around the area.
This hotel offers plenty of activities to keep you busy. I particularly enjoyed the welcome matcha tea from an authentic tea house. The rustic sake room provides complimentary sake, which definitely warms you up and relieves tiredness. There’s also an open-air foot bath available. I had a spacious room with a marvelous view of Mount Fuji every morning upon waking. The gourmet dining experience is definitely worth mentioning. The unforgettable drum show and bingo game at night were incredibly exciting. The onsen experience was perfect.

A classic old-school modern hotel with ryokan-type service. The room is huge and has excellent views of the river. On a good day, it should be possible to see Mount Fuji as well. There is also big onsen area with an outdoor bath area.
Dinner is served on the ground floor restaurant and it was a delicious multicourse meal which includes really good wagyu steak with wasabi shoyuzuke. Dessert also includes the region's famed grapes. Breakfast was served buffet style with selection of Japanese and western items.
I drove to the hotel with a rental car. It is not too far from a station on a local line but I recommend driving around to explore instead. The patrons to the hotel also seemed more local.

Amazing
GGuest UserWe spent our anniversary with my girlfriend in Kaneyamaen, and our experience was above and beyond. Starting with the shuttle option provided by the hotel from Mishima station, which also took us to Oshino hakkai, what a gorgeous place, before ending up at the hotel. We were really satisfied of our driver who shared facts about Yamanashi prefecture and Fuji.
Our check-in process was also a really nice experience. From the moment we arrived we felt the hospitality of the hotel service crew. They escorted us to our room and helped with our luggage. Staying at a Sanri-Comfort Western Room, we had access to 2 lounges, where in one of them we had access to many kind of amazing wine from Yamanashi, among other tasty snacks. We choose our yukata and headed for matcha tasting. This is located in another part of the building which also gives us a peak at the wonderful garden. The matcha and snack we received helped us settle in with the calm garden view. Then came dinner. My god, the dinner was above and beyond. Neither of us had an 8 course dinner before with such a perfect service and absolutely amazing food. Hats of to the restaurant and service crew. Truly impressed.
We decided to walk of the calories in the hotels beautiful garden at night. The illumination creates a really romantic experience.
After this, we attended the Taiko drum show, which is organized by the hotel crew. First time for me and I can say it definitely made our experience even more special. Fantastic work.
Then the star of the show. The open-air bath on the balcony. The sight of Mt. Fuji early morning from the bath, was a magical experience which we'll never forget.
The buffet breakfast provides a great selection of food and drinks, rest assured we left very pleased.
All in all, this was an extraordinary stay for us. Nothing but max points. Wish we'll have the chance to visit again.

TTongeryaHad a BBQ with friends in the evening, and the night view was great. However, the air conditioning in the room was really uncomfortable, and the bedding was too thick. I strongly advise against booking breakfast; it's better to just DIY. You can easily pick up some supplies at the big supermarket nearby.
GGuest UserThe advantage was that the room was spacious, with plenty of room! The entire room and bathroom were clean and tidy! The downside was that the young Japanese staff member at the breakfast restaurant was extremely rude. He stood there glaring at us, practically forcing us to leave the restaurant by 9 AM! Honestly, I understand needing to leave on time, but this staff member didn't understand that guests don't constantly check their watches while eating breakfast! Our table was completely cleared except for a coffee paper cup, and we hadn't even gotten up to leave yet when that staff member rudely announced that they were closing, then glared at us fiercely! Absolutely terrible attitude! On another note, most of the hotel staff are Indian foreign employees, so there were no issues with English communication!
YYutao LiangWe were incredibly lucky to get room 111.
As soon as we opened the window, there were many clever koi fish. Whenever someone was on the balcony, they would immediately come over.
There was fish food available at the hotel entrance; it was self-service.
We were very touched. We had a five-year-old child traveling with us, and the hotel staff always made sure to include the child's utensils when preparing cutlery in the restaurant, even though we hadn't ordered dinner for him.
We will definitely come again. Thank you.
GGuest UserIt is a traditional hot spring hotel. We stayed in the old wing this time. I heard that one side is newly renovated. The old wing really has its age and the rooms have a bit of a smell.
In mid-February, we made a reservation for the family bath on the 5th floor, but the floor was damaged and had not been repaired. It was dangerous for children to pass by.
The front desk had limited English and could not fully communicate.
There are not many tourists, and overall I am very satisfied.
GGuest UserI chose this place because I wanted to experience traditional Japanese architecture. I loved the scent of the tatami mats and the overall atmosphere. There's also a Japanese-style bathhouse where you can shower and soak. Those who are afraid of insects should be careful! I encountered a huge spider while showering! But that's normal given it's in the mountains outside.
I also really enjoyed the breakfast! You can choose between Japanese or Western style. The pillows and blankets are a bit old, but it was fine to sleep on. It's a great place to stay that I'd definitely come back to next time!
GGuest UserThe room is average, simple like a business hotel. I was disappointed with the Hoshino. There was no one in the lobby, few waiters, and a long queue for breakfast. The so-called commercial street has few businesses. The hot spring is outdoors, which is terrible when it rains. You have to wear clothes to soak in the hot spring. It may be more suitable for Japanese families. It is very noisy, there are many children, and the sofas in the lobby are shabby.
