"This was an excellent hotel in Brunei I have stayed ever. Nice location, cheaper price comparing other hotels and services. I must recommend you all. I was staying at the end of the Ramadan. So, I was to having breakfast in the morning because, I have to fast in Ramadan. So, they willingly gave me the Sehri at the night so that I can fast easily. That was really impressive. Everybody are awesome there. Thanks to the team."

"📍Day 3 | 1st June 2025, Sunday The Empire Brunei 🇧🇳 After all the walking yesterday, today was all about rilexing in style—and what better place than the legendary Empire Brunei? ✅ And yes—it absolutely lived up to the hype. 😍 This place is more than just a hotel. It's basically its own little kingdom. Here’s what they offer: 🏀 Full country club (basketball, squash, badminton, table tennis, pools 🎱) 🏊♂️ Indoor swimming pools & jacuzzis 🏖️ Private beaches & lagoons 🚴♀️ Kayaks & bicycles 🎥 On-site cinema 👶 Kids Club 🍽️ 4 Restaurants ⛳ Golf course 🚙 Buggy rides everywhere (the place is huge!) We booked a Dart ride from Jubilee Hotel and arrived around 11AM. Although check-in was supposed to be at 2PM, we were warmly greeted by Hafiz at the front desk. He invited us to explore the facilities while we waited. Then… surprise! Our room was ready by 12PM and we even got a free upgrade to the Ocean King Sea View Room. Influencer perks? Maybe 😎 (Just kidding 😂). Thank you, Empire Brunei! A buggy took us straight to our room—and wow, it was huge, luxurious, and the sea view was something else. 🌊 Lunch was at Pantai Restaurant. My son loves the mini burgers 🍔 while we enjoyed the ocean breeze and relaxed atmosphere. Afterwards, we wandered the lobby and took in the stunning architecture—those iconic golden pillars are a masterpiece. 🏛️ After prayers, we changed into sport/swimwear and headed to the Country Club. I jumped into a pickup basketball game with two lads from the UK while wifey and my son relaxed in the indoor pool and jacuzzi nearby. 🏀🛁 Later, we visited the Kids Club— My son splashed happily while we took a breather. Just before sunset, we found a quiet spot outside. Brunei’s sunset? Absolutely underrated. 🌅 To wrap up the day, we stayed in for dinner (room service KA dendeng 😅). FYI, you need to put down a deposit to order room service. We were way too tired to head out again anyway. Rating? Empire Brunei = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7 stars, obviously 😂) Truly a 10/10 experience—elegant, peaceful, and unforgettable. Feeling recharged and grateful."

"The Centrepoint is a historical hotel. Its very old and still operating. I had a huge room, everything was ok. Bed super comfy, bedding ok. Breakfast is incredible ! So many options!!! Staff are super Friendly and always helped me booking my taxi with Dart 🤗🙏🏽 the only thing didn't like is the old style. I prefer modern hotels. All the room and hotel is very old, and the AC is so cold. Even I put it in ”fan modus only” at 30°c and it was cold.... Otherwise nice stay."

"I called close to midnight to tell them I am checking in after midnight and to make sure my booking is reflected in their system. I just landed from a long transit flight, so I just want to make sure I can get to the room as quickly as possible. The 2 male staff working that night has been very helpful and accommodating."

"Spent 3 nights here at higher hotel. What can we say, firstly the hotel was clean, linens towels were clean. The room size was surprisingly big too. We had the twin bed but that’s ok for us. Location wise, just 7km away from the airport. Dart costs BND10 each way. In terms of shops and eateries, there’s myriads of shops just walking distance. They have laundry just next door to the hotel. The food in the hotel breakfast served home meals, close to local dishes. We get used to it since it’s almost like our own. Lastly, but the most significant one would be the friendliness of all their staffs, whom 90% was Filipino. They are very polite and just friendly to every guests. If we ever come to Bandar Seri Begawan again, we will look no other than Higher Hotel."

"Old design hotel. But complete with playground for kid but need to pay for 3 dollar. Parking available and have basement parking. 2 swimming pool available. Breakfast not many choices but good enough. Amenities is limited, the hotel only provide 1 toothbrush. Overall very satisfied as the price is reasonable."

"The hotel offers good service and is in a great location, making it very convenient for travelers. The food at Yelo Cafe is excellent—definitely worth trying. The staff are friendly and have a great attitude, which added to the positive experience. The room was spotless and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable stay. However, the Wi-Fi was a big disappointment as it didn’t work at all, which can be frustrating for guests who need internet access."

"Nothing but 5 stars. Lets start with the location. Not very far from town as you can see from map. Neighbouring local kampung houses. Just below the hotel there is one fine restaurant that looks premium. Embun doesnt have many rooms, they gave me the room just behind the reception. Dont expect someone to man the counter, just press the bell and Mr Jimmy will come running. A superb friendly and attentivve gentleman. Room is very comfortable and very clean. Towel provided is clean. Water pressure and great with heater. It is very chilly in the morning if you aretakingt bath. Yes we are facing mangroove swamp and a nice huge river. Best part, TV is great with youtube. Apart from some board games at common hangout area, there is a pool at the back of the hotel facing the river. U cant really swim, just dip and enjoy the view. N Parking wise not an isue as there spaces for at least 9 cars. Now comes breakfast, not your usual hotel buffet, they served your breakfast personally with some nice omelette, local kuih and oranges. Very delicious. Will i come back again? Yes. Better than J Hotel which I frequent. Although embun doesnt have smart lighting and etc like J hotel where we uses a old school key to access our room, but the human side of Embun wins hands down. Love this hotel."

"Good location for budget travelers, but cleanliness and facilities need improvement Location & Accessibility. The hostel is located near the Gadong Night Market in a relatively safe area. It takes about 15 minutes by car or bus to reach the city center, where you can find the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Kampong Ayer (water village), and museums. Public buses to the city center are available right from Gadong Night Market. Room & Cleanliness: I booked a bed in the female dormitory and was guided to another building about a 1-minute walk from the main Google Maps location, which was fine. However, I had concerns about the cleanliness. The bedsheets, although supposed to be fresh, had visible hair and dust on them. I was offered a different bed, but it had the same issue. Since I was exhausted from long-distance travel, I gave up and accepted it, but I felt uncomfortable watching the staff simply brush off the dirt by hand and assign the previous bed to another guest. Facilities & Wi-Fi: There is room for improvement regarding the bathroom and Wi-Fi. The shower rooms (separate from the toilets) are extremely small, with no hooks to hang towels or clothes. There is also a mild sewer smell from the toilet and shower area. The hostel uses a strong orange air freshener throughout the property, which felt a bit overpowering. While Wi-Fi is provided, the connection was extremely slow—perhaps because my room was at the far end of the hallway. Since eSIMs in Brunei are relatively expensive compared to other countries, the weak Wi-Fi was quite inconvenient. Overall: It has the absolute basics. If you are on a tight budget and just need a cheap place to sleep for 1 or 2 nights in price-heavy Brunei, this could be an option. However, expectations for cleanliness and comfort should be kept low."
