I was recently in The Salt Lake City area. I flew there, rented a car and took a roadtrip in Utah, Idaho, Colorado and New Mexico. I stayed at this location on a Friday then a Sunday. I'm big on checking reviews and the reviews here were great. The price was higher than I'd like but the reviews were too good to pass it up. This hotel was great! It is well worth the price. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. The first night I was without a car so I had to walk around to find a nearby grocery store, gas station and restaurants. I felt very safe walking around the area even after dark. The rooms had a regular curtain and a blackout curtain in the window. The blackout curtain worked very well. The breakfast was amazing! I would have been happy if I had paid for it but it is free of charge. The first morning it was scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, sausage links and hash browns. The second morning I was there it was more of a breakfast burrito kind of scrambled eggs, bacon (very fatty which is a huge plus for me!), and hash browns. One thing to know in advance is they have discontinued their shuttle service. This did not hurt my review at all but it is important to know before you arrive. The area is a bit of a public transportation dead zone. Not really. They exist. I got the feeling that North Salt Lake is close enough to Salt Lake City that they don't feel the need to offer much public transportation to that area but further north does have more options. This is important because I brought a cab from the airport the first night, and this might all be on me for not exploring all my cab options, but I felt bamboozled by the rates. This might be every taxi company there but I was charged over $8 per mile for that ride. It was a 9 mile distance from the airport so I'll let you do the math. So the following day when I went to pick up my rental car I took public transportation. It took a bus and the train to get me to the airport. For the price you couldn't beat it but I found it to be a bit too much. Of course that isn't the hotel's fault but the shuttle would have been a way to avoid all that. If I ever come back to Salt Lake City I would absolutely stay at this hotel. I love it and the surrounding neighborhood.

I’d like to first say thank you to the new manager Mr Clinton. I am diabetic and he accommodated me for the first night with a small fridge although he did say he was going to charge me going forward which is something new that no other hotel has ever done for my medical condition. But I did have an issue with the lady in the front Ms Roslind. She has terrible work ethic and is a liar. She was persistent with asking questions about my medical condition which under the HIPPA act protects us from asking personal questions about our medical condition. She also at one point asked me to step out of the office because they can only allow one person at a time due to the global epidemic COVIT 19 which I totally understand but yet again allowed another individual to go in which I found mind boggling. She basically kicks me out and allows another person in? I found that really unfair. She also quoted me servers different prices on the same room which makes no sense. Overall that made it a really bad experience. She really needs to work on customer service and just being a well human being. If I could rate this zero star I totally would.

I stayed here and I had arrived back in Utah - which used to be my home - for job interviews. I had lived in this town/area for 1/2 year when my job fell through and housing too. So I'd been away for a while. I returned and arrived sick and very exhausted. The Dr said I wasn't contagious but I was still quite sick. This hotel did let me stay and rest, which I very badly needed. The rest of the area, my old home town, treated me very badly. So badly, that after my night here, I turned right around and left. I was treated badly by all the major faith groups in town: Catholics and LDS. But this hotel was the one kind place where I stayed and regrouped before driving another 700 miles. They were very nice to me when I needed it. I also worked at hotels in this area. Mostly, the hotels in the area are over priced and not very secure (theft is a problem) so watch your things. Most of the hotels here have some significant problems. Of all the hotels here, though, I recommend this one. I did think they had made improvements from when I stayed last, earlier in the year.
