LilyRose Hotel

Stayed in the zebra room for one night. No parking scratchcards were available as promised only parking discs with no explanation of how they worked. Room was tatty, dirty, floor not cleaned, surfaces not wiped. Noisy during the night. Wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend

This hotel's strengths are its location, which is superb, and large rooms. It's close to the beach, town centre, and stunning views of the Abbey and whalebone arch. Lovely walks nearby, too. In terms of admin, very moderate. We didn't receive the email code as it was promised, they'd put us in the wrong room, and there were no parking scratch cards available. All of these should be easy to resolve. Breakfast was expensive so we didn't book that. But we saw it. On a trolley. For £12 per night I would be furious to have that offered to me. Wholly inadequate. So very much a mixed bag review for this hotel.

Great location, could see and smell (in a good way!) the sea from the street. Nice welcome. Liked the availability of extra milk etc on the landings. Double room, compact, bed stopped the door from opening fully. En-suite adequate but some toiletry containers empty. Shower door needed attention. No room for chairs , just one tiny stool. No teaspoons, no tumblers for water. Fabulous ,gigantic towels. Decoration a little tired, some staining on cushions. Laminate flooring worn. Slightly strange television/mirror placement, they were hung in such a way that you saw two images. Perversely, I liked the view of the back ally. All that said, not a bad place to stay overnight, although would argue that their description of themselves as a "boutique" hotel might be stretching things a little.

Absolutely fabulous. The room was beautiful. Staff very helpful and friendly over the phone. We booked last minute as the hotel we had originally booked was substandard. It was my birthday and the person we woke to was wonderful. Thank you.

A basic but quite adequate hotel for a short stay in Whitby, the check in and car parking process was exactly as the website suggested. The room was bright and clean with all of the usual niceties in place, such as tea and coffee supplies, towels and a smart TV. The room decor was a little tired but perfectly acceptable. The bed itself creaked quite badly every time you moved and the water supply was hit and miss for temperature and the shower would turn itself on for periods throughout our stay, but only for a very short while, it didn’t bother us. The hotel is at the top of the hill and a short walk from all the action down in the harbour. As a bed for the night while you party down in the town…. Can’t fault it really.

It is a lovely comfortable hotel. The rooms are clean and contain everything you might need. The only downside I had and this is totally personal to me is the stairs. We had an attic room as I’m 60 overweight and unfit I thought I was going to die. Other than that I would gladly stay again but in a lower room.

from the moment we arrived, i called your number and got no answer. the room clearly hadnt been cleaned, there was a wine stain in the middle of the floor. my wife cleaned it and left it on the radiator for evidence . the floor hadnt even been swept. the general maintenance of the room was very poor, the door didnt close properly and rather than fix a new latch, a hook and eye was used. bodge job. we ran the shower, only to find after 2 mins the water was starting to flow over the shower tray so we switched it off. the mould in the tile grout shows that hadnt been cleaned properly for weeks. after the water eventually drained out, you can see the brown "sludge" in the trap. had it been hair, i would have just removed it , but i didnt want to put my fingers into "that". on top of all that, the wallpaper can be seen peeling off, and obviously no one checks the room after tennants have left , to see what they have forgotten to take back with them. ( shower bag, pain killers ) overall, we were extreemly disappointed and feel the price was way too high for the room we received

Having stayed in Whitby many times over the years, I can say there are far better places to stay than this. The overall room was in poor condition and upkeep. It was not clean with many cobwebs in the bathroom, and the floor had not been swept. The bed was uncomfortable and reminded me of the type of beds you put up with in shared housing in your 20s. Depsite hanging the sign for the room to be made up, the only sign of housekeeping being in our room durng a three day stay was an extra roll of toliet paper. I made the bed myself, our towels were not replaced, and used tea cups remained left untouched. It took nearly 10 minutes of running the shower before we had hot water. Our coffee / tea making facilities had not been stocked, and I had to search every floor just for a tea bag! I can certainly say we did not feel, "pampered, comfortable, and relaxed," as advertized. A good view of the Abbey and a convenient location isn't worth the price.

This is not a complaint but advice for the owners. On our arrival we found the room was very tired. Wallpaper coming off the wall, drawer fronts broken and there was remnants of the previous guest in a set of drawers namely three packets of ibuprofen and an old wash bag on our final day. The shower was permanently cold so we attempted to contact the owners. We were only able to leave a message and received no return phone call. The owners are not on site so there was nobody to assist us with this and we were left to wash with hot water from the kettle. The accommodation was basic and needs improvement to bring it up to the standards of the online photographs. On a pluspoint its location was very good as it was close to the town.
