"We took our child to Qiandao Lake, and initially booked the Fairfield. To our surprise, it had issues with safety and hygiene. We reluctantly stayed one night and then decisively checked out early. We then found the Novotel, and as soon as we entered the lobby, it felt much better. It was spacious and clean, and Xiaoxiong, who checked us in, had an incredibly good attitude. The room also felt great. Xiaoxiong modestly said our room didn't have a lake view, but it actually did! Our child needed to do summer homework and check in afterward, so we asked Xiaoxiong for a chair and a lamp. She brought them very quickly. She proactively and patiently answered any questions we had – thank you! The Novotel's pool also deserves high praise. It's large and very well-maintained, clean and free of debris. The water depth is 1.5m, which is a bit deep for children, so kids who can't swim can go to the 0.5m splash area downstairs. The kids' club is also bigger than expected. Even if it rains and you can't go out, kids can play there for an hour or two and won't get bored at all. If I had to pick a flaw, it might be that the breakfast could be slightly more abundant. However, for this value for money, we really can't ask for more! (Avoid Fairfield Qiandao Lake! Influencer recommendations really aren't reliable, absolutely don't go! Unless you don't mind dirty toilets and bath mats; or your child falling off the bed in the middle of the night because the bed and frame aren't secure and slide around; or your rhinitis acting up because the pillows smell bad!)"

"The hotel is beautiful. My room had a great view. It's quiet and serene. The staff speaks English and they are very polite and very helpful! The hotels has 2 restaurants and neither of them serves food all day. There is no restaurant nearby. So if you arrive hungry then you stay hungry. The TV in the room has terrible sound, as If TV speakers are removed on purpose. The rooms don't have sound insulation may be that's why TV's speakers have been removed."

"The people that work there are very efficient and pleasant to talk to. The hotel is well located, only a few steps away from the city center, but isolated enough to have a calm stay. The pools are nice too! I recommend!"

"The room was very comfortable and spacious for the family of 4 of us. Unfortunately the weather was against us and rained everyday whole day during our visit and couldn’t go do sightseeing by foot. The “guest bathroom” drain was releasing a very unpleasant stinky smell throughout our visit. Highly recommend to spend a few RMB and buy the drain smell problem solver (see picture attached). Promise it will solve the problem!! Installed it in all our apartments where we lived in China that had the same issue. Our daughter (and us) enjoyed the playroom even though the a/c systems did not allow warm air to heat the room (setting was on hot= 35 degrees Celsius, high speed, but never went over 15 degrees Celsius). Cleanliness could be looked at, lots of human hair lying around. Reception could possibly take an English course to accommodate non-Chinese speakers, but the language translator came in handy. Breakfast was mainly Chinese like. But good variety, shouldn’t go hungry."

"We had a great time in the bright resort for our weekend bike trip round Qiandao lake. The room was big, the view was very nice and having the hot springs after a long day on the bike was great. It was very clean and the breakfast was ok considering the overall price. Service was very good, we had some special requests because of our bikes and checkout-time which was super easy to align with the front desk. We directly got the contact of 温柔大哥欧耶耶 who was super nice, answered super fast and really gave us the feeling she want to make our stay special and welcoming. Thanks for a great weekend"

"We are expats living in Shanghai and we were amazed at the facilities at Wonderland and the exceptional service from staff we received! Everyone was so helpful and friendly and welcoming and we would return at our earliest opportunity. Our son enjoyed the various areas for kids especially in nature. "We chose this hotel primarily for its promise of a secluded, nature-connected experience and its on-site hot springs—a perfect antidote to busy city life. The room was warm, cozy, and wonderfully quiet. The bed was big and incredibly comfortable, ensuring great sleep. The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. The best feature was the house's layout—separated from others, it felt private, secluded, and truly integrated with the natural surroundings. It was the peaceful haven we needed. The hotel territory is vast and beautifully maintained, perfect for calming walks. The dining experience was excellent: the food was tasty, presented in a clean environment, and offered a satisfying variety. Unfortunately, the main attraction became a source of stress. The culture of quiet, therapeutic relaxation expected at a hot spring was completely absent. The most visitors were behaving like they are in a public swimming pool, with yelling and kids jumping, splashing, and running around. This chaotic atmosphere made it impossible to relax or enjoy the springs' intended benefits. It felt like a disaster for anyone seeking the tranquil, restorative experience hot springs are known for. Despite the hot springs issue, our overall stay was very nice, thanks to the superb room, excellent food, and beautiful grounds. The core product—the accommodation—is outstanding. I will definitely return, but I will plan my visit for a much less busy period (perhaps weekdays or off-holidays). If you are seeking solitude and quiet, I highly recommend the rooms but advise cautious timing for the hot springs. This place has all the ingredients for a perfect retreat; you just need to find the right moment to enjoy them fully."

"I stayed two nights during the New Year's holiday. It's close to Lingxi Cave and Daci Rock. The room didn't have underfloor heating, so it felt quite cold in winter. The air conditioner could only go up to 21.5 degrees Celsius. We needed to take a shuttle bus to get to meals and go out. Breakfast was just average compared to other ordinary five-star hotels in Qiandao Lake. For dinner, we opted for room service, but the food was a bit cheap. We ordered shrimp and snow peas, but there were only three or four small pieces of shrimp. For 48 yuan, we got a large bowl of snow peas. The advantage was that there was no service charge, and the food was still quite hot when it arrived at the room."
