This was our fancy night on an otherwise more budgeted trip and we LOVED it! Shana clings to the side of the hill at the end of a narrow road on a pretty undeveloped peninsula, so there are lots of animals in the surrounding jungle. We saw a sloth at the beach, and toucans and squirrel monkeys from the open-air restaurant. The pool was lovely. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was almost silly it was so large, I went snorkeling from the beach but didn't have good visibility. You can rent kayaks on the beach.
The one downside is this isn't a good option for anyone who has mobility issues because it's on such a steep slope. There's a staff member with a golf cart to give anyone a ride from their room level up to the restaurant, etc., so that helps. The walk down to Playa Briensz is down (and up) a steep trail. Also, the view faces north, so you don't have a view of the ocean or the sunset.
