"The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice.
There appeared to be no hot water in my room, however, it turned out I needed to leave the water running for 10 minutes for it to get warm. I would recommend telling guests this, as I had to have a cold shower on the first day at 5:30 am."

UUsuário convidadoThis really is a 10/10 place. My husband and my favourite place we’ve stayed, this trip to Thailand. We’ve already decided we want to come back, with friends, next time.
We wanted a place to cut our drive to Bangkok and had no idea Sarat Thani and the surrounding area had so much to offer.
Mr. Pongsak, the owner, could not be more lovely. He is so thoughtful and invested in making sure everyone who stays has the best experience and shares his knowledge of the area and all the things there are to do and see.
We drove a rented car, and found it sooooo peaceful and relaxing to be there. And so close to get to town, markets and lots of yummy foods.
We cannot wait to share this gem with friends and try the other cabins. The pond with all its fish is a gorgeous water feature too.
They opened in 2025 and are building a third cabin. They are modern and still so charming and relaxing.
Cannot wait til we can return on our next trip.
My only concern is that it is such a great spot and is going to be so popular, we will need to book well in advance next time!

“In the center of Surat Thani, where crossroads pulse with traffic and neon flickers like tired stars, stands CBD Hotel—a place that waits for travelers who are always on their way somewhere else.
Around it, the city breathes commerce: food stalls, markets, bus stations. From here, you can walk to the Seatrans bus terminal, and soon after find yourself boarding a ferry to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. You can wander to the agricultural market, where local trucks carry passengers to Phunphin railway station. Every path from this corner leads somewhere further, as if the city itself is designed for departures.
Parking, often a worry in the center of a restless town, is solved here. Behind the hotel, a wide lot waits—easy to enter, easy to leave, as if movement were always part of the plan.
The lobby never sleeps. Staff at the desk watch the night pass with quiet patience. A small elevator, unassuming, carries you to rooms that are wide and clean. At the entrance, a wardrobe stands for shirts, bags, forgotten stories.
The window is large—generous with light in the day, but not always generous with silence. If your room faces the street, the sound of passing cars may slip through. Yet by night, the city softens. The roads empty, and stillness returns, like an old friend.
The bathroom is spacious, the water strong and insistent. Not new, but cared for, like something that understands its role. The bed is soft, the air conditioner steady, the space around it wide enough that you never feel trapped.
This is a hotel for pauses, not destinations. For the traveler between islands, between parties, between versions of themselves. Affordable, reliable, unpretentious.
Sometimes, the most valuable comfort is not in what is offered, but in what is quietly promised.”

A casa de banho tinha um muro que separava a casa de banho do chuveiro, e isso era óptimo!A Ducha elétrica era perfeita.O pessoal de limpeza trabalhava duro. O jardineiro está sempre no caminho e mantém a área exterior limpa, bem feita para ele, o espaço do guarda-roupa era super e o armazenamento era bom. A minha única queixa (e isso é para todas as salas de hotel na Tailândia) é a falta de vidro duplo para evitar o ruído do tráfego principal. Caso contrário, tudo foi bom no hotel Obrigado.

The Wang Tai Hotel feels like a grand dame from a bygone era. Walking into the lobby, you can see it was once a truly luxurious place, and that sense of scale and history is still there. However, it's clear the hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. While everything is clean, the decor and some furnishings feel a little tired and dated.
That minor point aside, our stay was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, always going out of their way to assist us.
The breakfast, however, was a wonderful and unexpected highlight! Instead of a standard buffet, it's ordered a la carte from a menu. Don't let that worry you the range is huge, covering both Thai and Western options. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. It felt more like a restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast.
The large swimming pool is a major plus – perfect for a refreshing dip and lounging in the sun. The location is also very good, making it a convenient base for exploring Surat Thani.
In summary, if you can look past the slightly worn edges, The Wang Tai Hotel offers incredible value, spearheaded by a stellar breakfast, great pool, and excellent service. A little refurbishment would easily make this a 5-star experience again.

CChillSeekerA very reasonably priced hotel with clean and comfy room and small balcony. The location is just over the bridge the other side from the main town but it is quite peaceful and very easy to access the night markets. I would recommend renting a moped or even a bicycle would be fine. If you visit, walk down to the waterfront near the crossroads bar and you might see a big monitor lizard in the tree. Also I recommend a little trip to Koh Lamphu which is a little island you can go around on foot or bicycle. Next to the entrance there is a little food market which opens at night. A perfect way to experience a bit of local Thai life.
