I arrived at the hotel at 11.20am and wasn’t actually expecting my room to be ready that early, but to my surprise it was. The female receptionist was so kind and friendly. I explained that I was severely sight impaired and she took the time to show me where everything was. She also arranged for another staff member to help me find my room. The room was lovely. Very comfy bed, soft pillows and bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom was huge with two different shower heads and a large Jacuzzi bath. The balcony was also huge with sun beds and lounge chairs. The restaurant and staff were also very friendly and helpful, and there was lots of choice with main. Courses cooked fresh in front of you. There were two outdoor lagoon style pools, with Various water jets, in pool jacuzzi beds, two slides and a separate jacuzzi. The indoor pool was amazing and very unique in its design. There were various different types of jacuzzis, water jets, jacuzzi beds, experience showers, sauna and a steam room. It was brilliant. I also the Spa and had the ‘Queen of Egypt Ritual’ which was truly amazing. I’ve been to many spa’s, but this was a whole new level of fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely be returning.

Part of why we did not enjoy this holiday was not the hotel’s fault. Pineda is a town that permanently STINKS of sewage. The stench ranges from suspecting the townsfolk of having a secret egg-boiling and peeling fetish to downright medieval. It is also industrial. There is blue sea, but the entire sun-sparkling horizon is taken up with hundreds of factories and cargo ships. Very urban with hotels and apartment buildings everywhere. The sea front is lined with the cheapest and tackiest shops possible. No charm to be found anywhere unless cigarette butts and dog poo everywhere is your thing. The hotel: food on the whole ok. It turned out our booking included full board but no drinks as we had thought (except in the restaurant). The more expensive all inclusive option is not worth paying 10€/day/person for (adults and children included) as the only palatable alcohol was the lager. The wine and cocktails were undrinkable. The fruit was never ripe enough to eat so it looked like a good selection but wasn’t. Table service terrible. If you choose to eat at the outside tables, no one will ever give you cutlery or serviettes. Good luck finding spoons or bowls; when they’re gone they’re gone. You can only have a lager if someone serves you but there is not always someone to serve. Glasses often dirty. No trays so you can’t get food and a drink at the same time meaning you constantly have to get up and you will never eat with everyone in your group at the table. Breakfast coffee you have to get yourself. Fruit « juice » is coloured sugared water and disgusting. The room cards constantly stopped working so we’d go to our rooms on the 3rd floor only to have to go down to reception again to get the card fixed. At least once per day per room. The hotel carpark is an extra 15€/day. Too small for cars made after 1970 and so pretty stressful to get in and out. You must be very good at 56-point turns in the dark. Add to that the carpark card that also stops working so you have to go all the way back to reception to the unapologetic staff who shrug and watch you walk another 5 minutes back to your car to re-attempt leaving. The VIP pool area is quite nice if you ignore the fact you’re surrounded by apartment blocks, but no one bothers to clean the pool properly so everything is a bit grubby. The main pool area forbids guests to reserve pool loungers but everyone does anyway so if you get to the pool after 11:30am you won’t get a lounger until about 7pm. The Spanish and French go for lunch and long afternoon naps but leave all their belongings on the loungers and the pool staff don’t care. Our two 12 year olds liked the pool games that were organised in the mornings and afternoons. There are pool tables (2€/game) & ping pong tables but having said that, there’s loads more for kids at any camp site we’ve ever been to. The evening entertainment is either in Spanish or French and one show in particular was totally inappropriate for children, with a 50 shades

Not the worst place I've been but far from the best. Just back from our first holiday with our almost 2 year old. Personally I won't be recommending this hotel to any family or friends and definitely wont be returning! We were half board so breakfast and dinner included, no drinks. Breakfast was ok..ish! The food was edible mostly and there was a decent selection as you would normally expect at an all inclusive buffet. Poor guy cooking was on his own so it mean quite a wait sometimes for an omelette, fried egg or pancakes. The restaurant is tiny so when it's busy it is BUSY. The actual area where the food is gets absolutely jam packed and its not pleasant! The food at dinner was questionable! I am not snobby, I don't enjoy fine dining and I wasn't expecting 5* food but I was a bit shocked! Lots of suspiciously undercooked meat, the same few meals on repeat over and over again and even the chips tasted reheated most of the time. Staff spent most of their time chatting to each other so you were often surrounded by tables stacked high with dirty plates. Drinks were low priced but you could definitely tell because the wine was also disgusting. We were really glad we didn't get all inclusive as we would feel like we had to eat there to make the most of it. Can't imagine suffering all 3 meals a day there! The room was great, clean and modern! The cleaning maids were all friendly and always joked with and said hi to our toddler when we saw them! At first glance looked brand new but once you've stayed a week you notice most of the walls have big marks on and the edges looked rough and chipped. On our last night a maintenance man came up with a tube of mastic and asked if he could seal the shower because it was leaking. We did end up declining as we had a toddler in the room and didn't want it to smell, thankfully we were leaving first thing so we'd just had our last showers and didn't need to use it again. The balcony was small and the blue lit up glass was really annoying and unnecessary. Doors were fairly soundproof though and the air con was decent! Location for us was brilliant, quick taxi ride from the air port, 3 minute walk to a stunning beach and lots of shops around which is exactly what we wanted. Easy to find the bus to Salou main town and back, overall can't complain! For our toddlers first holiday it was a success- short flight, decent enough hotel room and stunning beach! We won't be coming back here though. First time we've booked separately rather than going for a TUI hotel or with first choice and probably wont be doing it again as we prefer previously holidays.

Reviews vary greatly for this property and that in part must be due to such a varied amount of accommodation available within the Hotel Gold River complex. We had previously stayed at the highest category hotel here Mansion De Lucy and was unsure how Gold River would compare, it turned out very favourably indeed. One concern we had was finding out that the fast pass options for rides were no longer granted for length of stay and instead in general it did appear there were few advantages of staying on resort however we found out that certain fast passes that include a single ride on each of the main attractions are valid for use over 2 consecutive days, it is well worth adding on the 1st row supplement which is just 5 Euro. This alongside a Seasme Adventure fast pass of 7 Euro meant it was 50 Euro each for 2 days of guaranteed rides. So for our 5 night stay we opted for this on our 2nd and 3rd day, and then our 5th and 6th final day. Ferrari Land is still included for 1 visit per stay and we also opted for the fast pass there too 23 Euro as we expected it to be busy as it was unusually open at night after PortAventura had closed. We opted for a full board package with Jet 2 and this made our spending money on resort go so far as we found the 3 course lunch that could be taken at numerous quick service restaurants was sufficient to share so we often would split our Lunches in the park up which also include a drink (bar a 1 Euro reusable cup charge) Food quality was outstanding, works out at about £16.50 for 3 course including a drink if you aren't full board so great value, think pasta bolognese to start, chicken dippers and fries for main, fresh fruit salad for dessert and a drink. I had been in touch with the hotel prior to our visit and asked to add on our fast passes along with some flowers and Cava alongside a request for a room in the main city hall, they were extremely efficient and helpful in arranging this and upon arrival everything had been taken care of, including the requested room in City Hall with the most amazing views of both parks and the sea. I would like to know how much Disney would try and extort from you for this view. The room was very clean and serviced daily with a nice deep bath, quite noisy at 10pm which seemed to be the most popular time for guests to eat but by Midnight very quiet. I did have concerns about the bookings for the restaurant as others have commented you get a 40 min time limit for breakfast and an hour for dinner for a couple this was fine but a large family may struggle. We found out on the last 2 nights that still water was complimentary at dinner. At both breakfast and dinner there was the most wonderful bread station which had a very large choice of different bread and in the morning pastries. Food was well topped up and loads kf choice for starters and desserts, a little less so for main courses and if nothing we fancied we chose from the kids options which are more fast food. A little bit of luck was sprinkled onto our major road trip to Spain, because finding this gem online made an amazing two days for our family! We were actually scheduled for one night but were so tickled pink that we extended another night. We came at the right time because the price was on point and it wasn't too busy. This could easily be a five star place if there was attention to detail. By that, I can think of a few main points during our stay that just need to be addressed...1) instead of the hassle and delay at checkout, it would have been more customer friendly to have us pay the tourist tax fee for the extra day when we extended our stay and paid for it at check-in. (2.) The pool area is beautiful and obviously takes a lot of time and expense, but it was very obvious that the tile work of the pool needs to be fixed and repaired in many areas. (3) as a tourist, the trash system was very unclear. There were possibilities to separate the glass from the regular trash in some areas on the grounds, but otherwise it looked like everything was just regular trash.....with there being so much plastic trash there should be the yellow container to dispose of plastic trash. With this points, I do want to express that this was a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it to others. I enjoyed the morning workout/dance class that was offered, the playground and children's activities are amazing, pool area was very enjoyable and we appreciate that there was a lifeguard, the view from our room, amenities, easy parking, restaurant on site was appealing (but we cooked in our apartment instead). We liked the Playa Park, it has the look of a hotel that has been totally updated. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the reception and in the restaurant. The rooms were a nice place to be, and the food was excellent ( we were half board) with a really good choice of quality food, and the drinks were quite reasonably priced. In fact we stayed in a 5 star H10 that was nowhere near as good as the 3 star Playa. Though we did not have children with us it does seem to be a very children friendly hotel..There are three close. nice beaches to swim from where the water does not go deep quickly, though there are quite a few steps to get down to them. Also there are loads of local busses that stop outside the hotel, for those looking to get about. We had a high room and actually had quite a good view of the sea and Salou at night. If staying in Salou I would certainly go back to the 4R Playa Park

An ideal place for a ”seal” holiday for the whole family. The beach and the sea - you can't imagine any closer. Clean, comfortable, tasty, modern. In a word - perfecto! The animation is decent, both kids and adults will like it. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff is without arrogance, very welcoming. The prices in the wine list at dinner are completely loyal, there is no need to save on the nearest supermarkets. All I needed was a gym.

Fantastic place to stay this was our 3rd time here, staff are brilliant right across the board & work very hard, it’s immaculate everywhere & run like clockwork, we had a beautiful apar**ent with a huge terrace & each apar**ent complex have their own beautiful pool & some have small playgrounds as it’s a huge place, there’s also a leisure centre onsite with sauna, gym, massage etc, & racquet ball & indoor pools too, plenty to do for everyone, we saw poolside yoga classes in mornings & kids club & play centre, there seems to be something going on all the time for all ages, the beautiful La Pineda beach is just across the road too. We went self catering this time but half board before & there’s a huge choice of food to suit everyone but if your a fussy eater I would advise self catering & there is a very good little supermarket just outside the complex & another larger one a little walk away, also Bus Plana office is on the corner where you can get your bus cards (brilliant value) for Salou, Tarragona etc. Estival Park is beautiful place, an oasis in the sun, thank you & hope to return soon, Regards The Duffy’s
