We booked non-smoking rooms from the internet. Total 5 rooms. When arrived, they were slow. Then gave us 5 rooms keys. It was on the 6th floor, once the lift opens up, the smell of cigarettes gushed through. We went down and asked we booked non-smoking rooms. Front desk insisted our rooms are non-smoking, it is just that they have a smoking booth on the 6th floor and they could not control the guests, so the whole floor is filled with cigarettes smell. Even with that, she insisted the rooms are non-smoking. I do not think she understands what it means by non-smoking. After some 5 minutes, she sternly told us we cannot cancel nor change as we have booking non-smoking room (with smoking booth). I opened my phone app and showed her - it says non-smoking room - there was no mentioned of smoking booth. Surprisingly in Japan, there are front desk service behaving as such. Out of no choice, we had to tell her strongly that we insisted on non-smoking room, she can put 5 of us in different levels but we want to have non-smoking levels. Then after 20 mins or more, she finally changed all our rooms in different floors. Originally we arrived happily, but by now, the mood is gone due to such poor service.
