Goal was to travel to Effingham, but decided to stop in Mattoon after a long day. Checked in around 1:00 am with my family of four. We were happy with our stay. The hotel, room and breakfast area were clean, the beds comfortable, and the all staff friendly. We were greeted as we passed the housekeeping staff in the hall and the breakfast employee was friendly. The breakfast buffet had good variety (pancakes, muffins, omelettes, biscuits, etc.) and was well stocked. The only reason for a rating of 4 versus 5 was due to a delay in access to the hotel. The card reader does not work and the door is locked. We had to call hotel front desk to gain entry, but it is a plus that the site is secure. There were only two bath and one hand towel in room, but the front desk readily supplied more towels. Good value and we would stay again if passing through.
