"Sempre nos hospedávamos neste hotel quando visitávamos Otaru, pois adorávamos o quarto amplo e espaçoso e as ótimas comodidades (adoramos o kit de higiene pessoal e a máquina Nespresso). Ele faz parte do enorme shopping center Wingbay e o supermercado pode ser acessado internamente pelo lobby do hotel até a meia-noite, o que apreciamos especialmente durante o inverno. O quarto com vista para a montanha também oferece uma vista linda no inverno."

"I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of a shared bathroom but the description of the facilities and furnishings intrigued me. When I checked in at Little Barrel I was immediately enthralled by the uniqueness of the decorations. It was indeed a pleasure to stay here and the numerous photos I took of the place can attest to that. And the shared bathrooms that I was so concerned about? It didn’t turn out to be a problem at all. The common bathrooms are maintained at a very high level of cleanliness and equipped with the latest toilet features.
So if like me, you are interested in staying in esoteric places you can give Little Barrel a try!"

"The hotel front desk are friendly and easy to communicate with English. The room is spaces and my room's window view is Otaru Canal. Very beautiful winter view. The hotel located about 15 minutes walking distance to The Otaru Steam Clock location and about or less than 10 minutes from the JR station. The check in time is 3pm but we reached before that the hotel also let us check in earlier. Overall I am happy with this hotel."

"Wonderful winter stay in Otaru in a traditional Japanese tatami mat room. It was a fantastic cultural experience and very comfortable, especially during the colder weather. The hotel is in a perfect location near the canal and transport links, making sightseeing easy. The Japanese breakfast selection was excellent, though western options were limited. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the TV feature showing onsen occupancy was a great touch. Overall, a memorable and authentic stay."

"- A very beautiful hotel and room. From check in to check out, everything was top notch, and I would give it a solid 5 out of 5.
- The staffs were very helpful during the check in process, making it fast and simple. The room was fabulous and truly worth the money. Very clean, pleasantly scented, and looking new and well maintained.
- Breakfast was simple yet very filling, with many items provided. It was the same on the second day, but that was not an issue. The chef and staff prepared the meal fresh and served it to our table, and enjoying breakfast with such a beautiful view made the experience even more special.
- The check-out process was also quick and hassle free. After check out, they even took care of my luggage safely while I went on a short trip to Asahi and returned later to collect it. The hotel is not too far from Otaru Station. Just a straight walk down the road."

"The hotel is in a good Location near the chanel. Very nice beer brewery with a big variety of beer is just across the Chanel . Fish market and train station in 10 minutes by steps.
There is the perfect big onsen on the top with great view on the sea. All three days I visited it I was alone.
Breakfast was ok, but not as gorgeous as I expected.
The room was clean and quite big. The furniture is a little old but in good condition."

"Bathroom facilities on trip.com description there's towel so I thought like the usual 1 free but on the site, the staff said no free towel at all and need to pay 200 yen. You should update Bathroom facilities (scratch the towel amenity)
Other than that, it is very great hostel, biggest shared bathroom I ever see (all 3 toilet, wastafel and shower room in one) And very good facilities, though it's a bit inconvenience if you have room at 2nd floor (elevator will stop at 3rd floor if going up, so you will go to 3nd then 2nd)"

::))My first visit to Otaru was truly unforgettable, all thanks to my experience at this wonderful hotel!
Located just a pleasant 20-minute drive from Otaru Station, the hotel is nestled in a tranquil, private area that feels like stepping into a captivating wonderland. I was delighted to discover a bus stop right across from the hotel, making it effortlessly convenient to explore the surroundings.
From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly by name, and they were incredibly helpful with our luggage. Taking off our shoes upon entering the hotel created a feeling of comfort and cleanliness that made us feel right at home. After a smooth check-in process, during which they confirmed our breakfast time, the staff graciously guided us through the hotel, sharing helpful information about opening hours for various amenities.
Our room was beautifully adorned in traditional Japanese style, complete with an open-air bath. Enjoying this serene experience during the winter was simply magical! We also savored a delectable Kaiseki dinner in our room, which was not only a feast for our taste buds but also left us delightfully satisfied.
The onsens were a real highlight, featuring an adjacent sauna. With daily alternating access for women and men every other day, we were able to enjoy both during our stay. Families will find this hotel exceptionally accommodating, thanks to its variety of playrooms and relaxation spaces catering to guests of all ages. Plus, the complimentary refreshments and bar in the lobby until 10 PM added a lovely touch to our experience.
Breakfast was a true delight, with a peaceful view of the snow outside the restaurant, enhancing the serene atmosphere.
On our departure day, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a shuttle bus to take us to the JR station, making our exit seamless and convenient.
Looking back, our only regret is that we stayed just one night—I can't wait to return and immerse myself in a different season's beauty. This hotel is now firmly on my list for future visits, and I’m already looking forward to the next adventure!

UUsuário convidadoWe booked the best room on the top floor and spent 7 nights at this high end and extremely expensive ryokan/hotel. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS: The food is amazing in terms of presentation, gastronomy and service. The place is immaculately clean. The views a fantastic! We got comfortable Yukatas and overall the place has a very nice traditional vibe.
CONS: They seem to be completely inapt in hosting people who don’t speak Japanese. No one speaks English at this place. None at all! They write that we can “press 9 and call the reception”, but once you do it – you can’t have any conversation with anyone at all. Even when you get down in person to the reception, no one can really communicate with you, even with Google Translate.
They exhibit zero flexibility. The approach is – it’s our way or the highway. All is extremely polite, but no left, no right! Can we have a laundry service arranged? The answer is “no!”. Can we communicate with you via WhatsApp or email? – No! Can we come later to breakfast? No. Can we have dinner at a later time, since we can’t come earlier just this one day? No! Basically, if you want to sleep a bit later during your vacation – forget it! Either show up at 8 or 8:30 am for breakfast, or go hungry! Can we buy your Yukata? – No! Also, we were asked to indicate every day what time we intend to go out – something that adds pressure, as on vacation one may want to improvise, rather than plan ahead their outings.
Given that this place charges exuberant prices, the lack of the most basic hospitality features (communication, laundry, customer-focused flexibility) is astounding! We now staying at another Ryokan, 90 minutes away and see that everyone can speak some English and the place is much more focused on the needs of a foreign traveler, as opposed on preserving the holy rigidity of an existent system.

The location is really convenient smack right in between Otaru JR station and Otaru Canal and less than 15 mins walk to Sakaimaichi Shopping Street.
The room is big in Japanese terms. No issue for those travelling with 2 x 30 inch lugguage. We had twin bed room which comes with a large sofa lounge enough for 1 person to sleep.
We had dinner at the 11th Floor Casa Blanca. Wonderful dinner for 3 with wines, whisky and highballs. Exceptional night view of snow capped city buildings. All at an very surprising bill of ¥25,000 for a fine dinning restaurant.
I will not hesitate to recommend this excellent hotel.
Will definitely be back for my next visit to Otaru in Authum.

SScudLimCozy Inn is superb, can easily be reached by bus or by car. Plenty of parking spaces. Room is big and clean. Close to Aeon and Daiso. Walkable to the canal if you are not driving. Check in uses machine and strictly only after 3pm, so do not come early. Overall, I highly recommend!

UUsuário convidadoStayed at Sho Inn for 1 night in Otaru. It’s a little out of the way from the Otaru station if you do not drive, but they offer shuttle service to the Otaru Canal and Otaru station when you check out! The host Hideshi was incredibly kind, even going the extra mile to bring my neck pillow, which I had accidentally left in the accommodation after check out, to the Otaru station at my preferred time that evening. It was a gesture testament of the great hospitality of the Japanese. Would definitely recommend this place especially if you’re a solo traveller / prefer your own private space instead of going to those hostels with double deckered beds and curtains!

Contactless check in, electronics Lady boss is friendly. If the bed condition(quality) can be upgraded will be perfect. (Didn’t get chance to take a room photo, use the nearby place for info)

CC.YapVery convenient location if you are into skii/snowboarding. It’s quite centralized to majority of the slopes and only 30mins drive to Otaru town. Only downside there is no food nearby by the hotel itself has 2 restaurant. The Japanese one was superb, good food with reasonable price, sadly only open few days a week.

O conforto é bem tratado com um ar condicionado e um aquecedor, garantindo uma temperatura agradável independentemente do tempo. A máquina de lavar roupa era UMA Grande conveniência, e tivemos opções para secar roupas no pendiente no quarto ou no balcão.
A localização é um Grande evidência, que está a uma distância fácil de caminhar até Otaru Canal e Sakaimachi Street. Também achamos conveniente ter um Lawson e várias refeições, embora seja UMA boa ideia verificar as Horas de abertura, porque podem variar.
Considerações importantes para a sua estadia
Embora a localização seja excelente, é importante notar que a estrada que leva ao edifício é forte, o que poderia ser particularmente difícil se você conduzir, e não recomendaríamos que você conduza no inverno devido às condições de estrada.
Para aqueles com carros, há duas áreas de estacionamento disponíveis: a mais próxima tem três faixas horárias, enquanto uma opção ligeiramente mais alargada oferece cerca de 12 faixas horárias. Tenha em mente isso, especialmente se você preferir um parque de estacionamento mais próximo.
