Colombo National Museum
LLaowai on the LooseIf you want to learn about the history of Sri Lanka this is a great place to start. The museum shows pre-historic finds and the earliest civilization of Sri Lanka as well as the Colonial era and the history or resistance to those colonial powers. As a history teacher I really enjoyed the museum.

Mount Lavinia Beach
DDEAR张小球I saw Monte Lavinia Beach when I was riding the sea train. I thought it was very beautiful, so I found time to come and see it. The water on the beach is very clean, the sand is soft and clean, and the scenery is quite good. It is worth recommending.
Geoffrey Bawa's Residence
IInvisible Wind33 Street is Bawa's architectural experiment field. 33 Street is located in the suburbs of Colombo and is a side lane of Bagatelle Road. In 1959, the year after returning from London, Bawa rented the third of the houses and converted it into a small temporary residence with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen and servants' room. Two years later, he managed to drive out the original tenants of the fourth house and added a formal dining room and studio to his house. In 1968, Bawa took over the remaining two houses and started a comprehensive renovation project: first, the second and third houses were connected to expand the master bedroom space and build guest rooms. Later, the first house was demolished and a new four-story tower was built, with a garage on the ground floor, a study on the second floor, and a loggia on the third floor, which leads to the roof terrace.
The original side lane of 33 Street was transformed into an entrance corridor, painted white inside, and dotted with a series of small patios with soft light. The long corridor connects the living spaces of different sizes, and at the end of the axis is a tall and lush frangipani tree in the back garden. Every object and every piece of furniture in the house, whether new or old, is related to real life experience, making Bawa's white modern interior regain the intimate atmosphere of the manor room in the 19th century colonial era.
Independence Square
KkhccIt takes about 10 minutes to walk from the museum. This is a large square. It is said that it was the place where independence celebrations were held. It has good greening and is very suitable. Take a walk here at dusk.
