I've just returned from a one-week stay at Living Heritage Koslanda and absolutely loved my time there. I've come away feeling happy, refreshed and inspired. Over the week, I spent two nights in one of the spacious suites, which has its own courtyard and plunge pool, as well as a lovely shared verandah, which is a great place to sit with a cup of tea and admire the stunning views. The hotel, with its ambalamas and traditional-style buildings, is a real celebration of Sri Lankan vernacular architecture. For the remaining nights, I stayed in a forest pavilion - a totally different experience which I also loved...Being so close to nature, immersed in the trees was a unique experience which I found very calming and healing. It felt luxurious to feel the gentle breeze at night while in the comfort of an amazingly comfortable bed, with soft sheets and pillows. Since I last visited in 2017, there is now a resident naturalist, Madumal. I really enjoyed the jungle/forest walk that I did with him, learning about the different indigenous trees, and the hotel's replanting scheme. The swim in one of the waterfall pools at the end was so beautiful - a moment I won't forget with streams of white butterflies passing by and vivid blue dragonflies resting on the rocks. I also enjoyed the ayurvedic massage and herbal steam trea**ent. The views from the infinity pool down to a small village nestled around paddy fields, and forested hills in the distance is mesmerising. The team are so friendly, kind and professional, and I loved the fresh, homemade Sri Lankan food, many of the vegetables from the garden. The turmeric latte made from homegrown turmeric was also delicious! I really admire how the hotel grows and produces as much as possible- including roasting local coffee beans. All these details, and many more, made my stay thoroughly wholesome and nourishing. I'll definitely be returning as this place now has a special place in my heart!
