Argostoli Essence Suites

My partner and I were pleasantly surprised by how incredible the Essence Suites were. The staff were there to greet us upon arrival and we were treated to a fresh lemonade and chocolate covered raspberries. We were giving your advice and maps for Kefalonia before being shown to our immaculate room. Our breakfast out by the pool each morning was fresh and delicious. We cannot wait to stay here again in the future!

I’m not going to repeat everything which gkace said in the inaugural review for this wonderful hotel, and I agree with all of it, wholeheartedly. The only shame is we got to only stay 2 nights; this is one of my favourite ever hotels; more expensive than we usually stay in but well worthwhile. The bathroom is the most impressive I’ve seen in a hotel, with a cavernous bath, which is rare indeed. Several warnings; as per gkace comments about breakfast - we have big appetites, but if you choose two options from the 4 they suggest , you will get a very large breakfast, choose three and you get a very very large breakfast; choose four, and you’re in man vs food territory! It’s all delicious, but I hate to send back food cause I’ve ordered too much. The other point is about the pool / area; it’s lovely but it’s small; perfect for cooling down after a hot busy day, but not a place you’re going to sunbathe in for hours, if at all. Overall though really loved it !

Argostoli Essence Suites is a small boutique style hotel, just a short walk from the pedestrianised main street and square. The staff are all incredibly friendly, you get a very bespoke and helpful service. Dimitris in particular was excellent, offering to help via WhatsApp with car hire and plenty of local advice. There are 8 rooms and we stayed in Room 201 on the first floor (above ground level) with a balcony overlooking a church with partial sea and mountain views. If you're awake early the sunrise view is impressive. The bed was comfortable with high quality linens. The room had a superb open-plan bathroom with his/hers showers and sinks with Molton Brown toiletries that were topped up daily. The bedroom had a beautiful contemporary large fitted wardrobe with lots of storage space as well as a minibar and a Nespresso pod coffee machine. You can select up to 4 dishes per person for breakfast, our highlights were the pancakes and traditional dishes such as pies, bougatsa and riganada. The only slight disappoin**ent was the pool area - we were expecting a larger pool area with sun loungers or deck chairs, instead the pool area is very small with no real area to relax outside - except for the cafe style breakfast tables and chairs. Also, despite being "adults only" accommodation there were some young children during our stay. Overall we would highly recommend this accommodation as a base to explore Kefalonia from, the staff are exceptional and the rooms are beautiful.

We were on holiday in Kefalonia and we wanted to move to a location in the southern end of the island around Argostlio. We by fluke came across this property and it literally has just opened a week ago. It’s a small boutique hotel that only has 8 rooms in total. The rooms are beautifully appointed in a contemporary manor. Luxury bedding and linen, high end bathroom fixtures and fittings, Molten Brown bathroom products, a full stocked (free of charge) bar fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, small pool with luxury towels. Breakfast is complementary and what a breakfast it is! You get a menu the day before and you get to pick four selections from the menu (we couldn’t even finish one selection) and you nominate a time to be served…. Tasty made to order breakfast served around the pool area. The staff bent over backwards for every request from a different pillow to a scale to weigh our bags. Location: You can’t ask for a better location minutes walk from the central square and the water front which are full of shops and restaurants. I stay in many 5 star hotels and I genuinely rate this 5 stars. You won’t be disappointed!
