"If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesn’t know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights. You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didn’t get wet, despite the small size of the room. The inn is on the “taxi-bus” route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of “taxi-buses” doesn’t happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets. There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected. You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a “taxi-bus” to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds. Not many “taxi-bus” drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pingyao Yunshu Inn."

"Spent a most enjoyable 5-day stay here. The owners are really nice -- they not only surprised us with a welcome fruit platter but also sent another one on another day. When we had to wake up super early on one of the days, they actually cooked 2 hard boil eggs for us to pack for breakfast (despite us saying no the night before as we didn't wish to trouble them). The husband also sent us via his car to a nearby pick-up point that we had to assemble at 5.40am. This is a very nicely done up place, well-maintained and very clean too. Good quality toiletries provided, comfortable bed, bathroom with a shower cubicle, water that is hot enough, even a toilet bowl. Great location -- there're rows of different types of shops nearby but it's still surprisingly quiet despite our room facing the road with a balcony, there're 2 cafes nearby, a nearby eatery that sells the most delicious 'shao bing' (crispy skin pastry with meat in it) - it's freshly made when one orders and a adjoining noodle stall that serves noodles that's quite OK too. It's just opposite the Hua Yan Si temple - one of the must-visit on the list of places in Datong. Hua Yan temple is also located in a huge square with more shops and food. From the front door of the homestay, turn right and walk all the way down abt 15-20mins, go through the ancient walls and then cross the road, you'll find Parkson mall there - a huge modern mall with all your usual F & B + shops that you'll find in these malls, supermarket, etc. The bus-stop to Yun Gang Grottoes is also nearby. A new landmark that makes it easy to locate this charming homestay : a new huge pink bunny with the Chinese characters of Datong on a green artificial grass patch, that is located just abt 200m away from its main entrance."

"This hotel is amazing! Always so happy to come back to this beautiful space at the end of the day. Datong ancient town is not big and is easy to get around from Onetwo Hotel. Front desk is always so helpful to offer us assistance and check in with us on our needs. Not forgetting, their breakfast is an absolute winner! (If i have to nitpick, i would have preferred if we had fresh towel instead of one-use towels.) Nonetheless, would recommend this place to anyone coming to Datong. 👍👍👍"

Because the plane was late, it was almost 12 o'clock in the middle of the night. I called the proprietress in advance and told the proprietress that the flight was late and needed to arrive late. The proprietress had been waiting for us at the hotel. Because the kitchen had not prepared meals after the opening, she specially asked someone to cook a bowl of hot instant noodles. Late at night a bowl of hot soup, the stomach warmed, the heart is also practical, that simple care than any welcome ceremony is real. It’s really not easy to take a taxi here. I have to do something the next day. The proprietress specially asked someone to drive us there. The red envelope was also confiscated. , I feel really embarrassed Focus on the weather in Datong. I came from Hangzhou. Hangzhou was really stuffy and hot in July. The body temperature felt fast at 40 degrees, and the body was always sticky. But as soon as I arrived in Datong on the evening of July 19, there was a dry cool breeze out of the airport, and I felt that the whole person was comfortable. At night, there was no window in the room, the wind wrapped in dry air and gently blown in, the cover was just right, and the air conditioner was not needed at all. I slept until dawn. In the morning, the skin is refreshing, and the hair is not as easy to oil as in Hangzhou. This dry summer night is really enjoyable for southerners. Let's talk about the room. The first feeling of pushing the door in is spacious, clean and comfortable. The overall decoration is the kind of simple log wind, the wall is warm white artistic paint, the floor is covered with light-colored wood brick, and it is not cold to step on barefoot. There are not many furniture, but everything is very textured - a big bed facing the floor-to-ceiling window, a rattan-made recliner by the window, a small coffee table next to it, a kettle and cups are placed in wooden trays, neat and neat. What surprised me most was that when the curtains were opened, I could see the quiet street view and the distant mountain shadow. The light came in during the day, and the whole room was warm. The bedding is made of cotton and hemp, it is very comfortable to sleep close to the body, the pillow is just soft and hard, it is also considered that I have stayed in so many hotels, and the experience is ranked in the top 10 😂 What I want to boast about most is the private soup in the room. The soup pool is embedded in a corner of the window. It is not big, just enough for two people to soak in side by side. When the water vapor is steaming, it has a special atmosphere. The boss was very sincere and told me directly that this was a real hot spring from the underground. A few kilometers next to it was a volcanic group. The water temperature was about 35 degrees, not hot or cold, and the whole person was loose from the shoulder to the sole of his feet when he soaked in. I soaked for about half an hour, and I could obviously feel that my skin was slippery. I was tired during the day and was soaked in hot water. The boss said that the water contained sulfur and metasilicate. After the soak, it was really transparent and I slept very heavily at night. And when you soak in the soup, you don't have to go out of the room, wear a bathrobe and walk two steps to get into the water, how long you want to soak for, this privacy and convenience is incomparable to the hotel's public pool. The decoration style of the whole homestay is also very unified. From the lobby to the corridor to the room, it is the kind of clean log with warm light, no fancy decoration, but every corner makes people feel comfortable and relaxed. The proprietress said that the design was her own eye, and it could be seen that it did take a lot of thought. The next morning, the proprietress came to ask if she slept well, talked a few words, and stuffed a small gift when she checked out. As the first guest, I was really a little drummed at first, but I found that the bedding was comfortable, hot water was sufficient, and soundproofed. I used my heart everywhere. If you are tired of the sticky summer in the south, want to find a quiet place to blow the dry wind, soak in real hot springs, it is worth a visit here. I am not dragging, this is the real feeling of the day from the 19th to the 20th. I wish the new store is getting better and better, I must try the dinner next time, hahahahaha"

"This is a listed historic building in the old city, beautifully decorated in a charming, antique style! The owner couple are also very nice! They were able to arrange a delicious breakfast even when we had to leave early, and the pick-up/drop-off service at the station was perfect! They even provided buckwheat hull pillows, which are great for those who prefer lower pillows."
