Was thrilled to see the blue sky upon arrival.
Road was blocked with enhanced security because of Shakira - Todo Mundo No Rio.
The hotel staffs were very helpful and approached us immediately with the luggages and deposited at the storage area upon our arrival.
The staffs were well trained and organised with good services.
Excellent location to Copacabana Beach with towels and umbrella provided.
The room with a view with vibrant energy at Copacabana beach.

To be honest, the impression of the hotel is twofold. On the one hand, it is an exclusive hotel, on the other hand, there were so many people that I did not feel exclusivity. You can't push through the pool. For some reason, in order to get to the pool and the beautiful view, you need to ask the hostess (who, of course, ask with a menacing look if you have a reservation and that there are no places) and you stand behind a red rope that blocks your way. I was not very pleased with this. Perhaps this excludes a super big crush, but the effect itself that they are blocking my way for my money is not pleasant.
A very interesting mattress, more like a feather bed. Soft, comfortable. The room is very, very dark - I did not like this either.
It is very interesting that at breakfast nowhere is it offered (no picture/message, the waiters do not say) that you can order waffles, avocado toast, or something else. Why is this kept a secret? The room has lovely views to the beach the staff are very pleasant.
I only had one problem with the nutritionist called Juliana that responded to an email I sent to her explaining about my son’s anaphylactic shock to dairy and unfortunately when we got their to the hotel it was her day off but she had no one ready to cater for my son first they offered him an apple and boiled egg and as soon as I spoke to the manager they made him pancakes scrambled eggs gave him biscuits.
It was a shame that Juliana did not do her job properly causing me and my partner stress on our first day at the hotel.
But next day they where ready for him and he also had a lovely breakfast just hope that Juliana learns how important it is to get ready for costumers that have severe allergies and treats them with more respected.
Apart from this incident everything else was spot on I also called their 24 hr service and order my son some pasta to take to our travel back home and everything was perfect.DeSGD 276

The hotel is located on the main street, a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. There's a currency exchange office nearby with a good rate, but it's closed on weekends and closes at 6:00 PM. During holidays, the hotel tightens security and access control. There's a pool and a terrace with a bar with a stunning view. I booked JW Marriott Copacabana because, surprisingly, the price wasn’t much higher than nearby 3–4 star hotels. The location is truly premium, right on Copacabana Beach and the rooftop overlooks the entire beach, which is a huge plus.
My room faced the inside of the building, so I had to keep the curtains closed the whole time for privacy, which made the room quite dark. That said, the room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Staff were generally nice, but everything felt quite slow check-in, check-out, room service requests, and even housekeeping. Breakfast was good in quality but exactly the same every day. Getting a table in the morning was also frustratingly slow; at one point around 10 people were waiting, and it took about 10 minutes just to be seated.
The rooftop views are amazing, but the design is honestly very awkward and outdated. The pool is at the back with almost no view, when it could easily have been a stunning infinity pool. The bar area felt cheap, and the thick glass panels and wide columns made it hard to enjoy the view or take good photos. The whole rooftop design felt very old-fashioned.
Overall, the hotel feels stuck in time. It’s a bit sad, because with such an incredible location, a modern renovation could easily make this one of the best hotels in the world. For the price I paid, I was still satisfied, but it definitely didn’t feel like a true luxury experience.DeSGD 467

This hotel is a great stay in Barra.
Like a lot of hotels in Rio, this one is old. The place has some relics of the last century: the phone is old, the furniture is old, etc. However, it makes up for it in other ways.
The service is excellent at this property. The breakfast is very good, the room service is great and cheap, and all of the staff from doormen to bellhops to reception are attentive and professional. The breakfast attendants are more professional than most local waiters. You will get excellent service here.
The hotel is also very pretty despite its age. The hallways and lobby are large, and it looks premium. The location is incredible if you like Barra. We only stayed one night, but we had a decent side view of the ocean from our room, and we easily had enough time for a nice walk on the beach before check-out.

The hotel's biggest advantage is its location; it's right next to Copacabana Beach, and the rooms offer direct views of the sand. The front desk and concierge service were exceptionally attentive, proactively helping with luggage and pressing elevator buttons, providing excellent care throughout. The top floor offers a fantastic panoramic view of the beach, but unfortunately, it opened too late in the morning, so I missed capturing the sunrise, which was a slight disappointment.
However, the hotel's shortcomings are also quite noticeable. The facilities are generally outdated. The elevators are not only old but also have limited capacity, resulting in long waits during peak hours. The rooms only have simple sheets, without blankets, which can be a bit chilly at night. The most inconvenient aspect is the lack of essential toiletries; there are no slippers, toothbrushes, or a kettle, and even complimentary bottled water isn't provided—you have to bring your own or buy it. The breakfast was average, without many surprises, and the pool was rather small. However, the nearby expansive beach completely compensates for this, making swimming more enjoyable.
Overall, it's suitable for travelers who prioritize beach location and service and aren't too concerned about the age of facilities. The core experience is still largely made up for by the beach and attentive service.DeSGD 138

Really lovely hotel in a nice part of Rio. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially as I speak English and everyone else is speaking Portuguese. The room was lovely and clean and the cleaners came here everyday to freshen up the room, put fresh towels in the bathroom and change the sheets. The pool was lovely and very quiet which made the experience much better. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel very much but the one day that I did, there was a good variety of food. Very young and recent hotel but of low quality. Not worth the price paid. The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop. It's all very dark and the rooms are small for the type of hotel classification. Average breakfast for the stars you have. Of the 3 hotels I tried on this vacation in Brazil, this was the weakest and I paid the same as the others.DeSGD 200

The Atlantic Ocean is right outside the window, and the rolling waves and the birds and airplanes flying overhead are a beautiful sight in themselves. There are bicycles available for free rent for 2 hours outside the hotel, and riding along the dedicated bike path along the shore would be very pleasant, but unfortunately I didn't have time to try it.DeSGD 381

Hotel location is actually in Rio, the advantage is that the opposite is the sea, the scenery is very good, the service is also very good. The only problem is that the breakfast is full of flying insects, meat and bread jam, it is impossible to swallow.DeSGD 126

I stayed at this hotel during Carnival. It was incredibly crowded, and checking in took forever. There was a lot of security. On the one hand, this is a plus, because the city isn't exactly the safest. On the other hand, security was constantly stopping me if I didn't see my hotel bracelet. The breakfast was one of the best (especially considering that South America doesn't have a good breakfast culture. It's usually a big bagel and fruit at other hotels). The main drawback: the elevators weren't working. There are probably 5 or 6 elevators in the hotel. Occasionally, only 2 elevators were working for the entire hotel! It was such a shame! I'd wait 8 minutes for the elevator to arrive at my floor.DeSGD 78

Check-in takes a while and is delayed. There are a lot of people waiting together and standing at the reception waiting for the room to be released. The phone in the room didn't work and there was no rug in the bathroom, which ended up always getting wet.DeSGD 27

We booked this hotel in Nov at an inflated price of $1500 USD for 4 nights assuming there'd be rooftop access on NYE since the hotel website didn't call out a ticketed event for that night. When we arrived, the staff told us it was in fact a ticketed event for an additional $300 USD. Perhaps our oversight but we scowered the website before booking at such a high price and it wasn't there. The manager was very helpful in accommodating a cancellation if needed, ultimately we were too tired to pack and unpack again and waste another day in transit so we stayed and bought the tickets.
Check in is 2pm. We arrived at 1pm and they said they had a room for us. It wasn't ready so we went to the pool where again, service was wonderful. Front desk gave us a tour of 2 rooms to choose from which was great, but then msgd me and said they'd have a diff room ready at 2:30. We went down at 3pm and the room changed yet again and the new room still wasn't ready. We got a room with no apologies at 4pm.
The room was standard. Strong cleaning smell but decent. The shower hose didn't stay in place. The shower drain did not work at all - we had to kick the water to the corner each time for it to drain or pools of water stayed until the next day. The sink also didn't drain. The toilet stopped flushing. We had a plate with one chocolate on it from NYE which by the next day was covered in ants. We are very tidy girls and give some grace for older hotels to have some flaws, but the experience for the price we paid made us appreciate the airbnbs we'd stayed at before checking in here.
Location is great, gym and pool are great, but not worth the $ for NYE or Carnival.DeSGD 147
