The Location is just next to Cinelandia and Lapa in the City Center. The service at the reception was not so good.. You had to wait untii 3 p.m and you could deposit your baggage only upon paying! The hotel is very close to the beach. The room is large. The bathroom water is big and hot. The service is very good. To see that you have luggage, the staff will run over to help you get it. The room has lovely views to the beach the staff are very pleasant.
I only had one problem with the nutritionist called Juliana that responded to an email I sent to her explaining about my son’s anaphylactic shock to dairy and unfortunately when we got their to the hotel it was her day off but she had no one ready to cater for my son first they offered him an apple and boiled egg and as soon as I spoke to the manager they made him pancakes scrambled eggs gave him biscuits.
It was a shame that Juliana did not do her job properly causing me and my partner stress on our first day at the hotel.
But next day they where ready for him and he also had a lovely breakfast just hope that Juliana learns how important it is to get ready for costumers that have severe allergies and treats them with more respected.
Apart from this incident everything else was spot on I also called their 24 hr service and order my son some pasta to take to our travel back home and everything was perfect.DeSAR 787

Take a deposit of £58 upon arrival. Rooftop bar never gave you change they would sometimes make you sign a receipt other times wouldn't so upon check out claimed we never paid one bar bill which we paid every time. They later took £60 from my account for 2 beers I'd already paid for. I emailed several times they choose to ignore. They even ignored trip.com. untrustworthy robbing people do not go. They removed table and chairs from 7.30pm new years eve forcing people to stand til after the fireworks. There was just no need for this as there was ample room. To be honest, the impression of the hotel is twofold. On the one hand, it is an exclusive hotel, on the other hand, there were so many people that I did not feel exclusivity. You can't push through the pool. For some reason, in order to get to the pool and the beautiful view, you need to ask the hostess (who, of course, ask with a menacing look if you have a reservation and that there are no places) and you stand behind a red rope that blocks your way. I was not very pleased with this. Perhaps this excludes a super big crush, but the effect itself that they are blocking my way for my money is not pleasant.
A very interesting mattress, more like a feather bed. Soft, comfortable. The room is very, very dark - I did not like this either.
It is very interesting that at breakfast nowhere is it offered (no picture/message, the waiters do not say) that you can order waffles, avocado toast, or something else. Why is this kept a secret? Why should I, upon accidentally seeing waffles on another table, ask: where can I find waffles?.. I don’t understand.DeSAR 1.203

The location is excellent, surrounded by hotels and restaurants. Across the street is the endless ocean and a beach bustling with people playing ball and running early every morning. It's very convenient to all the attractions! Of course, a sea view room would be much more comfortable. The sunrises are beautiful every day. Although you can't see east, they're still beautiful. This hotel is a great stay in Barra.
Like a lot of hotels in Rio, this one is old. The place has some relics of the last century: the phone is old, the furniture is old, etc. However, it makes up for it in other ways.
The service is excellent at this property. The breakfast is very good, the room service is great and cheap, and all of the staff from doormen to bellhops to reception are attentive and professional. The breakfast attendants are more professional than most local waiters. You will get excellent service here.
The hotel is also very pretty despite its age. The hallways and lobby are large, and it looks premium. The location is incredible if you like Barra. We only stayed one night, but we had a decent side view of the ocean from our room, and we easily had enough time for a nice walk on the beach before check-out.

The hotel's biggest advantage is its location; it's right next to Copacabana Beach, and the rooms offer direct views of the sand. It's incredibly convenient for strolling the beach and enjoying the sea views—just a short walk to the sand and waves. The rooms were clean and tidy, making for a comfortable stay. The front desk and concierge service were exceptionally attentive, proactively helping with luggage and pressing elevator buttons, providing excellent care throughout. The top floor offers a fantastic panoramic view of the beach, but unfortunately, it opened too late in the morning, so I missed capturing the sunrise, which was a slight disappointment.
However, the hotel's shortcomings are also quite noticeable. The facilities are generally outdated. The elevators are not only old but also have limited capacity, resulting in long waits during peak hours. The rooms only have simple sheets, without blankets, which can be a bit chilly at night. The most inconvenient aspect is the lack of essential toiletries; there are no slippers, toothbrushes, or a kettle, and even complimentary bottled water isn't provided—you have to bring your own or buy it. The breakfast was average, without many surprises, and the pool was rather small. However, the nearby expansive beach completely compensates for this, making swimming more enjoyable.
Overall, it's suitable for travelers who prioritize beach location and service and aren't too concerned about the age of facilities. The core experience is still largely made up for by the beach and attentive service.DeSAR 418

Really lovely hotel in a nice part of Rio. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially as I speak English and everyone else is speaking Portuguese. The room was lovely and clean and the cleaners came here everyday to freshen up the room, put fresh towels in the bathroom and change the sheets. The pool was lovely and very quiet which made the experience much better. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel very much but the one day that I did, there was a good variety of food. Location is great, beachfront. Front desk was helpful. Rooftop pool is very small but has a spectacular view. Everything was good except the corridor & the rooms. Corridor is dark. I booked a 28 sq m Superior Room, my fault for not booking a room with a seaview. The room has a tiny window (all the photos of the rooms shown on the website has much bigger windows) & when it’s opened, there was a rotting rubbish smell. We paid a lot for the carnival, and what did we get in return?
Room service was a huge help. We could eat inexpensively at any time of day or night. The pizza was a bit raw, but during Carnival, it's as if the whole Rio stops cooking properly.
The room wasn't cleaned once in 4 days, but they checked the minibar.
We had to change the towels ourselves.
The room smelled very damp and had other strange odors. We had to buy a freshener.
The room itself was old and dirty, small.
There were a lot of security guards in the lobby, but there wasn't even a water cooler.
Check-in was slow.
The elevator was a disaster.
It was sometimes 2/3, sometimes 1/3, working, and the staff was always harassing those.
Pros:
The beach is 5 minutes away.
Beach towels provided.
Room service 24/7.
Everything. If you're not coming for the carnival and there are plenty of available hotels around, this isn't the place for you.
And...they even demand a $400 deposit without warning.

The room lacked basic amenities — no duvet or blanket, broken toilet, no hot water, and a phone that didn’t work. The WiFi and TV barely functioned, the ceiling was under construction, and the room had no view with a window that opened only a sliver. The door also locked itself and the key card stopped working.
The hotel was overcrowded — there was no space to enjoy the pool, and breakfast was a letdown with no vegan options at all. Add to that loud construction noise for long periods and this stay felt more stressful than relaxing. Definitely not worth the price or the stars.DeSAR 320

Very young and recent hotel but of low quality. Not worth the price paid. The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop. It's all very dark and the rooms are small for the type of hotel classification. Average breakfast for the stars you have. Of the 3 hotels I tried on this vacation in Brazil, this was the weakest and I paid the same as the others.DeSAR 481

I had a great stay at Hotel Atlântico Rio! They kindly allowed me to check in a few hours early, which made a big difference after a long journey. The staff were warm, helpful, and professional throughout my visit. The breakfast was fresh and satisfying, with plenty of options to start the day right. One of the best parts is the location — just a short walk to Copacabana Beach, perfect for catching the sunrise. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Rio.DeSAR 156
