The hotel lobby and breakfast were both very nice. However, we experienced some issues with our room. The double bed was quite small, and the room we were initially assigned did not match the photos shown when booking. When we raised our concerns, the staff did their best to accommodate us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the process took quite a long time and involved multiple room changes. The final room we were assigned was much better and met our expectations. Had we been given that room from the beginning, our overall experience would have been significantly more positive. It seemed that some rooms have been renovated and are much newer, while others are older and less reflective of the images advertised online.

Friendly , helpful & efficient Front office staffs. Offered complimentary late check out until 2pm. Thankful for their kind service. Room is clean, modern and with adequate services and amenities. Bathroom is spacious and nice shower room. Bed is comfortable, free WiFi and inclusive buffet Breakfast.The buffer Breakfast spread is very good , serving hot English breakfast and continental breakfast. Within 20 minutes peaceful walk to the town centre. Very convenient. We are truly happy & satisfied with our stay in the Holiday Inn express Bath , highly recommended!

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. I have stayed in 100s of Hotels. I now try to avoid the chrome & glass gin palace type. I use budget hotels for a one night stay. However this was a 5 day break to celebrate my partners 60th birthday. The Hotel was wonderful, historic building but maintained well. Lovely staff who made us feel very welcome. A lovely cooked to order breakfast and the evening meal was cooked to perfection and our waiting staff were better than most restaurants. The room was perfect, cleaned when we required and the location is perfect. There is a bus to town every 15mins which is just 3 stops away. If you are visiting Bath this is the best hotel to stay in.

Sold as a 5 star hotel and although it did look good from the outside,the inside was very dated and lacking tlc.the bathroom had what looked like black mould around the wall furniture and the sink had been covered in a wrap which was torn and some of the metal fixtures where corroded.the breakfast took over an hour as they seemed to take precedents over vips in the dining room who got food very quickly.from sitting down to receiving our breakfast took an hour both days.the staff where very apologetic but that does t make up for poor service and the quality was average.The Spa was also dated and the Gym was small with very little in it for a proper workout.

The location was amazing and easy by walking in town, meet the hotel standards on cleanliness, service and location. staff is very friendly with smile especially on the breakfast time, they are really helpful. However I have booked for 2 nights with the city view queen bed room, but It’s no city view at all. Also, this room is on the upper ground floor and nearby the storage cleaning room is not the good idea for customer especially on the early morning time. The problem is the room always has a terrible noise all the time which make me terrible and can’t sleep well when I am being on the room. I have requested the room which away from elevators and good view before booking but not get anything at all.

The Hotel itself is very dated in decor, but I actually enjoyed this and it felt quite nostalgic to me. If you're looking for cheap and cheerful and you're not overly fussy then this place will do you just fine. After all I wasn't here to spend all day in the room, but to go out and explore. There was coffee and tea, fresh towels, and I was left alone for the 2 nights I stayed which I appreciate. Some people enjoy the maid service, but personally I prefer not being bothered. From all the other reviews it mentioned a fee upon arrival as an insurance for damages, but I got asked for no extra fees, so I'm guessing this is based on the larger more valuable family type rooms maybe. If you are a solo traveler like myself then the location is brilliant, as it's right next to the main beach strip, a cool little local beach front cafe which is reasonably priced, and if you have the legs for it like me, a massive nature trek to explore full of beautiful forestry and greenery. The main shopping town and Italian gardens are only a short 15 minute walk away. If you are on a budget there's a wetherspoons just 5 minutes away which is very decent and has great sea views, staff were all lovely. Staff at the hotel were also very friendly if you approached or talked to them. Only negative I'd say is that you can't book in till 3pm, but there is plenty to keep you busy nearby whilst you wait. If you are fussy and expect the Ritz, this place ain't for you, but if you are there with a fair level head and you just want cheap lodgings, then it'll do you fine for a night or two. I'd definitely stay again for the cheap price of just over 30 quid a night. Thanks and I'll be back down the line 😎

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Comfortable Stay and Great Location I stayed at the Holiday Inn Taunton and had a very comfortable experience. The hotel is easy to access, just off the M5, which made it a convenient base for exploring Somerset or stopping over during a longer journey. The room was clean and quiet, with everything I needed — a comfy bed, a good shower, and a desk area. Wi-Fi worked well, and I appreciated the tea/coffee station. While the decor is slightly dated in some areas, everything was well-maintained. Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional from check-in to check-out. The breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold options, and the restaurant had a nice relaxed atmosphere in the evening too.

We booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.  When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.  We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.  We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.  We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.  We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.  We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.  We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.  Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.  I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly.

Amazing value for money; simple selections of food, compact no frills chalets: could do with a bit of attention to detail with deep cleaning; decent bedding and towels, fantastic and varied entertainment generally throughout the day and late into the evening; most acts are really good. Nice to be able to set up to work remotely in the ballroom during the day and take in the fun that holiday makers are having. The Blue Coats are an engaging team. Drink prices are OK for a setting like this. We are 53 and 58 and on the younger scale of most holiday makers but whatever age, this adult only holiday park delivers quality for money hands down. Bus travels from the road outside the site to Weston Super Mare hourly during the day; beach is just a walk away down the site entrance. Taxi's are affordable if a comfi trip into town is wanted. Can imagine how amazing this establishment will be in summer (and they don't seem to hike the prices to eye watering levels during the warmer months). The range of themed weekday stays (4 days Mon-Fri) and weekend (Fri-Mon) are varied. We need to be in the WSM area for a couple of months - staying at various hotels / establishments, but now we have found Sand Bay, we have chosen to book here for several weeks back to back. For that reason, we have brought our own bedding with us, to personalise our chalet and make it more homely for our extended stay. Reception team are generally welcoming and efficient and Jade the holiday booking team member is ever so helpful. Well done Sand Bay!
