The Five Oceanfront was a pleasant surprise for my wife and me. We typically stay at larger all-inclusive resorts and specifically wanted to try a smaller one. My wife found this by Googling the top resorts in the area, and their larger resort in Playa was on the list, and she found this one by visiting the larger resort’s website. I don’t write many reviews, but when I do, they are detailed; I am particular about a lot of things and appreciate when others write with the same level of detail. We booked a trip for February, but a non-COVID illness forced us to delay the trip. The staff easily accommodated our request to push the trip out 3 weeks with no additional charges. Our visit was 3/18-3/25/21. We were greeted by a modern and stylish entrance. The resort is at the end of the road, with an undeveloped resort property next door. The “front desk” is a large wood table that, from our balcony, looks like the state of Texas, and is similarly large. “Live edge” wood tables are all over the place and in our room. We were on an all-inclusive package (optional at this resort and apparently, is available on a day-by-day basis), and our bracelets were colored string with a logoed wood tile (think Scrabble tile) with an RFID chip on the back for access to our floor and room. That was a nice touch compared to resorts that have plastic color-coded bracelets. The package included a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of fruit and chocolates in the fridge. 3 of each of these were stocked in the fridge each day: 3 kinds of soda, Sparling water, Heineken and Dos Equis beers. Still bottled water was also in the fridge (think glass coke bottles with water). We reserved a one-bedroom suite. The room was fitted out with a 5-cup drip coffee maker, a 2-burner cooktop, a combo microwave/toaster, and full-size fridge/freezer combo. A 65” (?) Samsung TV was in the family room and also in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the hotel software controlled the TV and changing inputs or using apps was not possible. That would have been nice for the couple of evenings we were in the room early. The living area had modern furniture, exactly as pictured on the website. Our balcony had two cushioned chaise lounges and a two-person jetted tub. The bathroom had double sinks, and a walk-in shower that had the best rainfall shower head we’ve ever had. Many places try, and most fail in providing nice fixtures and decent water pressure. Robes and disposable slippers were also provided. Plenty of room to unpack 2 full-size suitcases and store them out of the way. The sliding doors between the bedroom and living space were quiet to operate, heavy, and thick. This provided a good barrier for me to rise early and get some work done before my wife. I didn’t test the speed of the included Wi-Fi but it was plenty fast for the large files I access online for work. Warm and beautiful Mexican-style hotel, the balcony is the swimming pool, next to the restaurant. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, salami and ham, fruit, various breads, coffee, tea, milk and juice. Although there are not many types, they can all be eaten comfortably. The location is good to find, just entered the second intersection of Tulun left hand and went in, there is parking space, ten minutes to Tulun site, X park half an hour to forty minutes, airport two hours, 7 word hotel area less than three hours . It is convenient to eat around, there is a big supermarket, and there is a local life atmosphere, which is not experienced in the 7-character area.

The room was very clean and modern. It was nice to able to cook my own meals to save money. The staff were very helpful and polite. It's not a resort. It's a place to stay after a long day at the beach.

Wonderful architecture with natural materials and indoor with plant paradise

First, it’s important to recognize the property has two sides. One side has hotel rooms managed/cleaned/maintained directly by the hotel itself, the other side is apartments managed/maintained by individual owners. I stayed on the apartment side and it was mostly fine, though absolutely unremarkable. If your staying on the apartment side (e.g. you found the rental on booking, Airbnb or similar), you should pay more attention to the reviews attached to that specific listing. If the owner of your apartment takes care of the place, you’ll be fine. Here’s are the pros and cons for the property itself. Pros - excellent service from beach bar staff - decently strong drinks for 4$ USD each - decent location (right on the beach; but far enough from the party zone at Punta Cancun to get some R&R) - good price Cons - Website advertises a pool bar; but I never saw it open, stocked or staffed - the food is basically a crime against humanity. Chicken and beef were always dry and tragically under seasoned. “Cheese” is the bright orange abomination most Americans call nacho cheese. Tortillas served without a hint of charring/browning. Stale tortilla chips. No beans anywhere. Have literally got better “Mexican” food from Taco Bell. - building is old. Fridge didn’t really ever get cold, hot water never really got hot. Dangerously outdated wiring that requires you to plug 10 different things into a single outlet. - definitely saw a few roaches and ghost ants were everywhere. Not lord of the flies level bad, but they’re present. For context, I saw maybe 2-3 roaches during a week long stay. - weirdly uncomfortable chairs everywhere. Beach/pool loungers were super thin; no padding, with hard plastic bars right where the butt sits. Chairs in the beach bar are wood; also no padding, and awkward design. Not a deal breaker but it doesn’t really make you want to get comfortable and spend a few hrs drinking in a rock hard chair. On the plus side, there was never any competition for a chair. - not many restaurants or other non-resort businesses nearby. Do yourself a favor and go into town for groceries. Otherwise, your only other option for late night munchies will be the convenience store 5 minute walk up the road. It’s called Oxxo, and it’s basically Mexico’s 7-11 but better because it sells real freshly made food at all hours. - security guards need to chill. After about 10/11, they routinely patrol the property to stare down any guests who happen to be enjoying a cool night in refreshing sea breeze. In short, if your favorite bar back home has a sports theme, a crowd of regulars, or is a hole in the wall, you’ll be perfectly happy here. However, if you’re the type of person who only eats out at restaurants with waiters, you might want to stop being so cheap and spend a little more money. For this price, you’re just not going to get a luxury experience. However, this is Mexico. When you have a good drink, a great view in a safe area and are surrounded by peop

A woman travels alone and finds a good location and finds it !!! The room was white and clean and tidy. It was better to have a slide door between the living room and the bed room and between the bed and the closet. There was a separate guest toilet so that couples and two friends could travel comfortably when sharing a room. Even the shampoo and body wash scents were luxurious herbs. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. I just need to buy all the detergents !!! The jacuzzi was even better in the open air and I was very reluctant to go to the beach because I was traveling alone. Breakfast was eaten at the cafe in the building, but the amount was small but the service was clean and the working people were good. It was uncomfortable that there was no iron board !!! I booked one day first and liked it and extended it one more day. It was a little expensive compared to other places, but I want to use it again!

We stayed 4 nights and had a great stay. The rooms and especially the pool look exactly like the pictures and are stunning. Our stay was quiet in terms of other guests as the hotel is not 100% up and running yet (no in-house restaurant and gym but were offered to use the facilities of the neighboring hotel) which we loved as we had the huge pool all to ourselves :-). You should be aware that the area around the hotel (Aldea Zama) is separated from the ”center” by an area that you should not walk through at night - so you have to rely on (expensive) cabs or a car to get around at night - not the responsibility of the hotel, but an issue of many areas in Tulum to be aware of!

The sea view is good, but the waves are loud and a bit noisy at night. It is still recommended to stay for one night. The wind was too strong and the waves were too loud, so I was a little worried. The room hygiene is average. Needs improvement. Overall below average

They are quite comfortable, very clean and the best thing is the aroma is delicious. It is close to everything and for the cost-benefit ratio, it exceeded our expectations. It is easy to get there by bus from the ADO downtown and cheap. For this date 12 pesos on the bus from the center. I would advise putting a rope in the shower to dry. For everything else, they are super attentive. wet clothes Greetings from Colombia, we will return.

We have been travelling through Mexico for 3 weeks and Hotel Encantada was the worst experience at all. The room was very noisy, the bus station is just across the street and the whole time we were listening to a machine announcing bus arrivals and departures. There was no balcony. The reception staff was absolutely useless, they were not able to help us, tourists, to arrange anything. Not even to advise where we can buy a bottle of water in the middle of night when we arrived. And the oxxo shop was just around the corner! On top of this all, after checking out in a hurry, I realized I forgot a shirt in our room and my friend forget her cosmetics. I immediately asked the receptionist to check and give it back to us. They asked the cleaning lady, she claimed to know nothing and find nothing. I believe I was pretty insistent and still, they did not return our stuff. So the cleaning lady or the reception staff either stole our things or threw ithem away and did not confess to either. I would NOT recommend to anyone to stay in this useless stealing place.

Just stayed in one of the units for 5 n ights. Have travelled extensively adn this definitely ranks as one of the best places I have stayed. Only a 30-45 min ride from Cancun airport. Can arrange transpo ahead time right through the condo/hotel. The check in was seamless--ladies at front desk so friendly,professional,courteous. The entire staff for that matter is kind,helpful, will help get you whatever you want or need. Erick was always super helpful!!! The facilities are lush,green, decorated beautifully, great breeze form the water. The place is immaculate. Pools are great-clean, beautiful hot tub w built in seats facing the ocean is a nice touch! Some of the units have their own hot tubs. I was so pleasantly surprised by all the amenities like coffee grounds, paper products, water form the dispenser etc- amenities not usually included when I have rented condos . Looved being able to get day passes to the local gym and enjoy yoga, bootcamp etc. Location is perfect. Right on the beach. Sargassum was bad some days but hotels on beach trying really hard to keep it cleaned up-not their fault, problem all along the coasts,even Florida getting hit hard w it. I loved that Taj has its own nice little private beach area, comfy chairs w umbrellas complementary, cute restaurant on beach. Few minute walk north of us is Mamitas Beach and another beach just to south of us, also wlaking,if you want more aciton. Few block walk to 5th ave w all it's shops,restaurants,music.,nightclubs. Loved it so much I already booked a room here for an upcoming trip.
