These are operated by ScotRail. Network Rail has worked with the Glasgow City Council and Scottish Fire and Rescue Services to develop a plan to reopen the station. Glasgow Central's high-level station is expected to partially reopen today. This will allow platforms 7 through 15 to be brought back into use. It has not yet been confirmed when the station will be able to fully reopen, and this will not happen until it is safe for both trains and passengers. Major disruptions are expected until at least the end of the day on Thursday, March 19. Network Rail has published a detailed update regarding Glasgow Central on their website. Avanti West Coast customer advice: The high-level platforms have partially reopened with one Avanti West Coast train per hour running to and from Glasgow Central. Station facilities including the ticket counter, first-class lounge, and shops will all remain closed. Please follow the temporary signs and barriers to find your way to and from the trains. Avanti West Coast will also continue running trains to and from Motherwell and Edinburgh, where connections to Glasgow are available using ScotRail trains. You can use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost in both directions: CrossCountry between Edinburgh and Birmingham New Street LNER between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross ScotRail between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street, and also between Anderston / Glasgow Central low-level / Argyle Street and Motherwell TransPennine Express between Edinburgh and Preston Avanti West Coast tickets dated between March 8 and 19 can be used at no extra cost on any Avanti West Coast service on the same route until the end of Thursday, March 19. If you abandoned your trip as a result of the disruption, you can claim a fee-free refund from the place where you bought your ticket. Caledonian Sleeper customer advice: The Caledonian Sleeper service from Glasgow Central will depart as scheduled, and the first service to arrive at Glasgow Central will be the train departing from London Euston. Accessing and exiting the station: There are two operating entrances that you can use to enter or exit the station. These are the entrances on Argyle Street / Hope Street, which have access to the station elevators and escalators, and the Carriageway Road entrance, which provides direct access to the main station concourse. Station facilities: All station facilities including shops, restrooms, the guest lounge, and waiting areas are currently unavailable. Boarding for Caledonian Sleeper services begins at 10:00 p.m., so it is recommended that you arrive shortly after this time to help make your trip as smooth as possible. Passenger Assistance: If you require additional help, the Passenger Assistance team will be on hand to support you. This may be pre-booked by contacting Caledonian Sleeper using the live chat function on their website. Onward travel from Glasgow: As Glasgow Central remains partially closed, onward train services from the station are currently limited and many trains have been canceled. If you are planning to travel onward, it is recommended that you check your itinerary and make arrangements in advance, where possible. Taxis are available on Hope Street, and station staff will be available to help guide you. CrossCountry customer advice: No trains will run to or from Glasgow Central. Routes will be modified to run to or from Edinburgh. To travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh, your ticket can be used at no extra cost on ScotRail trains (in either direction) between: Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street Argyle Street and Motherwell Once you have arrived in Edinburgh, you may then travel on the next available CrossCountry train heading south from Edinburgh. If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost. Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but cars B, H, and L are unreserved cars on CrossCountry trains (where available), so please board those. ScotRail customer advice: ScotRail trains can stop at Glasgow Central low-level. There will be a reduced number of platforms available at the station, and limited entry and exit points for customers. This will not allow for the return of trains on all routes that normally operate. The following routes will operate as follows: A half-hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and Ayr, making all local stops between Paisley Gilmour Street and Kilwinning An hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and Gourock, making all local stops An hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and Wemyss Bay, making all local stops A half-hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock, making all local stops (integrated with normal Carlisle / South Ayrshire services) A half-hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride An hourly service will operate between Glasgow Central and Lanark Glasgow Central station entrances: ScotRail staff will be on hand at Hope Street to guide and support customers to and from the platforms. This will include entry and exit for customers via an entrance on Hope Street, known as the carriage driveway, which is used during special events and is normally for vehicle access. The following entrances to the station will remain closed: Hope Street (adjacent to Waterloo Street) Gordon Street Union Street In addition to the above, the following routes will still not operate: Edinburgh – Glasgow Central via Shotts / Carstairs Glasgow Central – Cathcart circle Glasgow Central – Paisley Canal Glasgow Central – Newton Glasgow Central – Barrhead Glasgow Central – Neilston Glasgow Central – Ardrossan South Beach / Ardrossan Harbour Altered services: The following routes will operate, but with significant modifications: Trains running between Glasgow Central and Largs will be modified to operate between Kilwinning and Largs only Trains running between Glasgow Central and Dumfries / Carlisle will be modified to operate between Kilmarnock and Dumfries / Carlisle only Train services running between Glasgow Central and Stranraer will be modified to operate between Kilmarnock and Stranraer only Glasgow Central Low-Level: A full schedule of services at the low-level platforms, which serve routes from Cumbernauld, Whifflet, Larkhall, and Motherwell to Dalmuir, Balloch, and Milngavie, resumed on Wednesday, March 11, and they will continue to operate. TransPennine Express customer advice: How does this affect my trip? TransPennine Express will still not be operating between Glasgow Central and Carlisle. This will continue even with the station partially reopening. Most trains running between Glasgow Central and Manchester Airport / Liverpool Lime Street will either terminate or start at Carlisle. Please check your itinerary before you travel. TransPennine Express services will only resume once the station reopens in full. What should I do? You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following services: Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh / Motherwell and Preston Northern between Preston and Liverpool Lime Street / Manchester Airport ScotRail services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street TransPennine Express services between Edinburgh / Carlisle and Preston / Manchester Airport Advice for TransPennine Express first-class ticket holders traveling on Avanti West Coast services: Customers holding a first-class ticket marked "TPE" or "TransPennine Express only" are advised to use standard premium seating on trains operated by Avanti West Coast. Customers holding first-class tickets that aren't specific to an operator may use first-class on Avanti West Coast trains. Please speak to a staff member if you need assistance identifying the correct seating for your ticket type. If you purchased a ticket and your trip was affected by this disruption, tickets dated from Monday, March 9 to Sunday, March 15 (inclusive) can be used to travel up to and including Tuesday, March 17 at no extra cost. Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is canceled or you are unable to complete your trip, you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.
