Kofu is my favorite city in Japan – uncrowded, quiet, clean, and well-organized. Every time I visit Kofu, this is my go-to hotel. The breakfast features traditional Yamanashi cuisine, and the complimentary late-night ramen is especially delicious; this time, for New Year's, it was upgraded to prawn soba. The public bathhouse is also very clean and orderly.
Service staff were efficient, although queueing to trade your keys for your shoes slowed things down. (Understandable, because this is also a day-trip onsen, so the hotel needs to ensure all tabs are covered before letting guests go.)
Facilities were old but well-maintained, although my room window couldn't be closed without force. Wide variety of baths to choose from, and convenient hours.
Note that there is no shampoo, conditioner or body soap in guestrooms, as this is an onsen facility - all soaps and bath amenities are provided in the onsen area.
Several onsite restaurants providing many food options, which made up for the lack of vegetarian-friendly options around the area.
Já me hospedei aqui muitas vezes.
This hotel offers plenty of activities to keep you busy. I particularly enjoyed the welcome matcha tea from an authentic tea house. The rustic sake room provides complimentary sake, which definitely warms you up and relieves tiredness. There’s also an open-air foot bath available. I had a spacious room with a marvelous view of Mount Fuji every morning upon waking. The gourmet dining experience is definitely worth mentioning. The unforgettable drum show and bingo game at night were incredibly exciting. The onsen experience was perfect.
Funcionários simpáticos do restaurante

Very Good
GGuest UserI stayed here three years ago. The room facilities are quite old-fashioned. However, the view outside the window is absolutely stunning, with the lake and mountains blending into a captivating scene. The breakfast had been fully booked by a group, so we found a breakfast buffet at Lake Dragon Hotel, about 100 meters outside the hotel.
GGuest UserThe hotel is absolutely amazing. I loved everything, from beautiful location and Fuji-san views to the hotel design, wonderful rooms, beautiful garden, wine lounge, onsen with Fuji-san view, kaiseki dinners, attention to details and wonderful stuff. The hotel has touched my soul. I feel so blessed to have the experience of staying in this place and truly wish to be back again next year. Arigatou gozaimasu!
EExperience-rVery good reservation services, I had some enquiry to the hotels through email, and get a prompt replied!
They guided me on how to book a bus to the hotel where the bus terminal is just in front of the hotel.
Room was spacious , toilet very clean with a big bathtub. However we didn’t use as we headed to the free onset which is linked to the hotel too.
Was lucky for able to get a mountain view room but Mount Fuji was too shy during my stay. And thank God it came out an hours before we board on the bus!
Will come back next time!
RRomain DannaWe had a wonderful stay at Grand Mercure Yatsugatake as a family traveling with a baby. The hotel is surrounded by nature, with beautiful views of the mountains, which immediately creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere — perfect for families who want to slow down and breathe.
The hotel is very family-friendly. Traveling with a baby can be stressful, but the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everyone was kind, patient, and attentive, which really made a difference for us as parents.
The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with enough space to comfortably stay with a baby. We especially appreciated the peaceful environment at night, which allowed our baby (and us!) to rest well.
The facilities were also well suited for families. The common areas are easy to navigate with a stroller, and the overall layout of the hotel feels relaxed and not overwhelming. The natural surroundings add a special charm and make the stay feel refreshing and rejuvenating.
Overall, Grand Mercure Yatsugatake is an excellent choice for families with babies who are looking for comfort, tranquility, and good service in a beautiful natural setting. We would definitely consider coming back and recommend it to other families traveling with young children.
GGuest UserFor any Yuru Camp anime fans, if you also are interested in an Onsen experience this is the perfect place. The facilities and staff are amazing! I couldn't believe the size of my room, especially after coming from a business hotel in Tokyo. I thought Deluxe Twin was just the ”deluxe” version of a standard single twin size bed room instead of two twin beds but there are no complaints.
Given it's more remote location I was expecting zero English but I was so surprised at how well some of the staff spoke English and had print outs for English speakers. I have to shout out two staff members, Nozomi and Joon Bae's english combined with my limited and grammatically atrocious Japanese they went above and beyond making me understand how everything worked as well as assisting me with my ventures outside of the onsen. They have two e-bikes available for rent which I rode to the next station on the minobu line so I could visit the school that was used in the anime as well as get a taxi to take me to Lake Shibere, from episodes 6 and 7 of season one.
It was my first time in Japan, being the only foreigner at the hotel for the two full days, I only visited the baths once however the facilities are amazing and I plan on going back to use the Onsen more.
CChakiejiangThis hotel is located south of Lake Kawaguchiko, which isn't the most popular area. It's also quite old, dating back to 1887. However, the facilities and maintenance are up to par, and the hotel has a distinct, traditional Japanese style that exudes a historical sense of luxury. A wonderful surprise was that all the mountain-view rooms offer an unobstructed and stunning view of Mount Fuji, truly unique and beautiful, peaceful and serene. It's definitely worth staying here.
Even though the hotel isn't in a prime location around Lake Kawaguchiko, they provide a shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko train station, which takes about 10 minutes.
Another highlight for me was the hot springs. The male and female baths are separate, extremely clean, and quite modern. There are indoor and outdoor baths; the outdoor setting is particularly relaxing. The contrast between the warm spring water and the cold outdoor air creates a comfortable feeling of embracing nature with an open heart. However, it's not advisable to stay in the springs for too long; I was back in my room within twenty minutes. The hot spring experience is definitely one of my fondest memories of this hotel.
For dinner, the hotel offers French cuisine and Kaiseki. We ordered one of each. They were decent, but the presentation and dining experience were very impressive.
Right behind the hotel is the lake, where you can rent bicycles and cycle around, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
All in all, this hotel was excellent and exceeded my expectations.
GGuest UserI stayed here on a solo trip. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations beforehand. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many people, so I was able to relax and enjoy the large public bath and sauna. Before my bath, I had curry and boiled dumplings at the restaurant on the second floor. I still felt a bit hungry after my bath, so I went to an izakaya on the second floor. The portions were good and tasty for the price, and they're open until midnight, so I had the luxurious experience of eating and drinking to my heart's content and then going straight to bed in my room. It's a facility I'd definitely like to return to.
AAitsumiFacilities: Although the hotel is a bit old, it's well-maintained, and some rooms have been renovated.
Environment: The views are excellent, especially from the observation deck where you can clearly see Mount Fuji. We happened to catch the Lake Kawaguchiko Winter Fireworks, and our lake-facing room had a great view of them.
Service: The staff were very patient in explaining the hotel's facilities and services.
Hotel Dinner: The buffet was delicious! While the variety might not seem extensive, everything tasted great, and the ingredients were fresh.
GGuest User[”Staying at Yumekadan with the kids was so worth it! The environment is absolutely stunning, and the open-air bath offers views of Mount Fuji. The cleanliness and facilities are top-notch, and our family of three had a super comfortable stay. The slightly slower service didn't bother us at all!”,”Our family of three checked into this onsen hotel, and the surroundings were incredible. The open-air bath experience was fantastic, and the cleanliness and facilities were all perfect. The service was also quite attentive, and the kids had an absolute blast!”,”Choosing this place for our family trip was the best decision! The environment exceeded our expectations, and the open-air bath with Mount Fuji views was truly breathtaking. The cleanliness and facilities were impeccable. Although the service was a bit slow, the overall experience was fantastic!”]
BBellaliyyTravelThe hotel is clean and has a free hot spring onsen. The hotel is quite far from the station, but it’s worth it because Mount Fuji is right behind it—huge and absolutely beautiful 😭. It’s also close to a large Daiso. Very satisfying / I’m very satisfied.♥️♥️♥️
