This hotel is very large and clean. The rooms were very spacious. The only thing is that the heat is 'on' even if you lower the temperature to its lowest setting. Thankfully there was a window to open even though it was -6° outside. The buffet was great with lots of selections. The one & only restaurant for dinner was great. Their large Asian menu provided pictures of all the dishes. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly & helpful. The pool was nice and clean. There was even a lifeguard on duty. The hot tubs were separate in the men's & ladies' change rooms. The only issue was that the front desk staff was very limited with English and there were no concierge services. Other than that we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

We had an amazing stay at Sunyata Datong. The hotel beautifully blends traditional Chinese architecture with modern elegance, offering a serene and spotless environment that feels both authentic and refined. The hospitality was exceptional — every staff member was polite, attentive, and genuinely caring. Their attention to detail made the experience truly memorable, from the thoughtful room touches to the warm service at every interaction. The team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast was another highlight, with a wonderful selection of freshly prepared dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. A perfect blend of culture, comfort, and heartfelt service — Sunyata Datong is truly a gem and highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong

Great location and they were all super nice. However the room was super hot and there is no AC. When we asked they brought up a portable unit but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep the room comfortable. If it’s winter it could be a great spot but definitely look elsewhere in the late spring and summer.

Unfortunately, the overall stay was not great. When we booked the hotel, we specifically requested a non-smoking room, which is essential for us because of health issues. After double confirming with the hotel that they have non-smoking rooms (based on the website, all rooms are non smoking), we paid for our booking. However, shortly after, they informed us that smoking in hotel rooms is common and unavoidable in Taiyuan. We felt deceived into making the payment and realized we were stuck with this accommodation for our 7-day stay. Upon checking in, we had to request a room change due to a strong smoke smell in the original room. The second room was better and the hotel staff was nice enough to provide an air purifier. Throughout our entire stay, people were smoking in the elevator, lobby, and even at the dinner table. If we had known this beforehand, we would have reconsidered staying here. For a 5-star hotel, it did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately, we paid far too much for this experience. The only highlight of our stay was the hotel staff. They were always friendly, helpful, and did their very best to serve the guests, which made our trip a bit more enjoyable. We thank them for their excellent service.

The bedding was comfortable and the room design was reasonable, but the room had a noticeable smell of new renovations, and the facilities were generally unacceptable. Despite being advertised as a hotel built in 2025, the toilet sliding door was difficult to open, the bathroom sliding door did not close properly, the TV signal was poor and frequently froze and could not be projected, and the air conditioner made strange noises. It was simply impossible to associate this with the quality of a five-star hotel.

We spent four tonight's in Datong hotel, although this hotel's grandeur is somewhat jaded,we still felt we were staying somewhere special. Thoroughly enjoyed our balcony overlooking the gardens at the entrance. What impressed us most of all was the restaurant in the adjoining Grand Hotel. After a month, travelling in China,this was the most delicious and interesting food we encountered. It was so good we ate there each night and it gave us the opportunity to try a varied range of Chinese dishes. Datong was a really wonderful place to spend a few days, and I would highly recommend it.

My stay at Futiandahua Rain Hot Spring Hotel was absolutely fantastic! First off, the location is superb, right inside the ancient city. It's super close to where they do the iron flower show, which, by the way, is an absolute must-see. I'm getting on in years, but watching that show brought tears to my eyes; I was so moved by the performers' dedication and the incredible spectacle they put on. It's clear the hotel owner pays incredible attention to detail. My two girlfriends and I stayed in a triple room, and from the moment we walked into the lobby, we were gushing over the hotel's ambiance, the staff, and the room's decor. Every little detail was thoughtfully done. Even when we were heading out to explore the ancient city, the front desk proactively offered us a pack of tissues to take with us. The room itself was a standalone unit, so it was incredibly quiet. They delivered coffee and afternoon tea daily, and the fruit plate in the room was fresh. There was also a cooler in the lobby with bottled water available for guests. The whole room was smart-enabled with XiaoDu (a smart assistant), and the shower had great water pressure and was very comfortable, with a separate wet and dry area. Oh, one small thing: the trash can in the bathroom was a bit too small; I hope they can improve that. The private hot spring was amazing. After a full day of sightseeing, coming back to soak in the hot spring and chat was just pure bliss.

The environment is clean and tidy, the service is patient and considerate, and the front desk butler guidance is quite satisfactory. Will come again. Five-star praise!

My room was spotless—so clean and fresh, and completely non-smoking, which was a huge plus. I loved relaxing in the bathtub while taking in the view. Breakfast was a solid win with varieties of options, both international and Chinese. My favorite part was the freshly squeezed juice —such a nice touch! The Chinese restaurant downstairs was also great, especially the spicy chicken dish. If you like bold flavors, it's a must-try. The hotel offers four mineral hot bath pools, which looked super clean. They do come at an extra charge, but they seem worth it if you're looking to unwind. Speaking of relaxation, the spa was amazing! The lady massager was incredibly kind, helping me with my lower back pain after a long week of traveling. She even shared a tip—walking backward to ease the pain! The only downside was that during the spring season, there’s no air conditioning. If the room gets a bit warm, you’ll need to open the window for cooler air. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend this place!

Desta vez, quando cheguei a Shanxi, escolhi o Yungang Hotel em Datong.O hotel tem um ambiente novo e a decoração é muito bonita. A casa de banho é muito confortável.Depois de cozinhar e lavar, é muito relaxante e há também uma sala de descanso. O pequeno-almoço era um pouco monótono, mas o jantar era muito rico.Senti especialmente que o pessoal de serviço no jantar de 6 de Setembro, Sra. Wang Gailin, era muito atencioso e acessível. O quarto duplo que escolhi para ficar neste momento é muito bonito. A lâmpada de cristal e o mármore são muito atraentes. O design da banheira aberta é um pouco desconfortável para famílias individuais. Não havia mensageiro quando fiz o check-in. Havia pessoas bebendo e fazendo barulho no saguão quando cheguei e não consegui impedi-las. Por volta das 9h30 da noite, havia homens andando no saguão do primeiro andar vestindo apenas roupas íntimas (alguém os parou e os convenceu a voltar).Espero que haja lugares melhores na área pública.segurança e gestão.
