You will definitely enjoy the traditional Chinese antique market and Chinese culture. The transportation is very convenient. You can reach the antique market by 2 minutes walk. You can easily reach famous AAAA-Class Tourist Areas by 5 minutes walk. Such as: Huayan Monastery, The Forbidden City - Nine Dragons Wall, Fahua Temple, Yuantong Temple and so on. The courtyard is equipped with rockery, glass roof, planting flowers and plants, feeding birds and fish, and the traditional courtyard makes you feel the charm of Datong ancient city. The rooms of Renyi are mainly Chinese-style duplex rooms. They are also equipped with high-end furnitures and tasteful decoration, it will bring you a comfortable stay.

"Spent a most enjoyable 5-day stay here. The owners are really nice -- they not only surprised us with a welcome fruit platter but also sent another one on another day. When we had to wake up super early on one of the days, they actually cooked 2 hard boil eggs for us to pack for breakfast (despite us saying no the night before as we didn't wish to trouble them). The husband also sent us via his car to a nearby pick-up point that we had to assemble at 5.40am. This is a very nicely done up place, well-maintained and very clean too. Good quality toiletries provided, comfortable bed, bathroom with a shower cubicle, water that is hot enough, even a toilet bowl. Great location -- there're rows of different types of shops nearby but it's still surprisingly quiet despite our room facing the road with a balcony, there're 2 cafes nearby, a nearby eatery that sells the most delicious 'shao bing' (crispy skin pastry with meat in it) - it's freshly made when one orders and a adjoining noodle stall that serves noodles that's quite OK too. It's just opposite the Hua Yan Si temple - one of the must-visit on the list of places in Datong. Hua Yan temple is also located in a huge square with more shops and food. From the front door of the homestay, turn right and walk all the way down abt 15-20mins, go through the ancient walls and then cross the road, you'll find Parkson mall there - a huge modern mall with all your usual F & B + shops that you'll find in these malls, supermarket, etc. The bus-stop to Yun Gang Grottoes is also nearby. A new landmark that makes it easy to locate this charming homestay : a new huge pink bunny with the Chinese characters of Datong on a green artificial grass patch, that is located just abt 200m away from its main entrance."

"Minha mãe e eu nos hospedamos nesta casa com pátio, que antes pertencia a uma família rica. O quarto duplex era muito bem isolado acusticamente, muito melhor do que o lugar onde ficamos no meio da rua. Era silencioso apesar de estar em uma área movimentada, a menos de 10 minutos a pé do centro histórico. O proprietário foi muito acolhedor; ele até nos buscou de carro quando estava chovendo. O quarto tinha vários cupons de restaurantes, um pequeno altar budista e um espaço para fazer chá – muito local e cuidadosamente decorado. ❤️ O café da manhã na manhã seguinte foi no pátio, e o proprietário preparou chá para nós. 🫖 Obrigada pela hospitalidade! "Os funcionários do hotel foram muito acolhedores e ofereceram serviço de transfer. O café da manhã era diferente, e a carne salteada estava deliciosa. O quarto estava limpo e arrumado, mas, para ser sincero, as instalações não se comparavam às de outros hotéis em que costumo me hospedar. No entanto, era um lugar único, com um charme local diferente que geralmente não encontro em cidades antigas. Foi ótimo, e com certeza me hospedaria neste hotel novamente na minha próxima visita a Pingyao!"

"My stay at this hotel was wonderful. The room was absolutely beautiful and allowed me to experience the authentic atmosphere of traditional China. It was thoughtfully divided into a living area and a sleeping area, making it both spacious and comfortable. The elegant furniture, decorations, and sculptures added a unique charm to the room. The bathroom was excellent as well, featuring both a bathtub and a separate shower. The staff at the reception spoke English very well, making communication easy throughout my stay. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the main attractions of beautiful Pingyao. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic stay in the heart of the city."

"It was a very lovely hotel in the pedestrian area of Datong. The staff is very friendly en although they dont speak English, they have a translation device, making sure communication is possible. The hotel itself is pretty and so is the room. The one thing to consider when traveling as friends is that the bathroom isn't in a seperate area, although there is a screen to make sure you get some privacy. Not something negative, just something to consider."

I did not want to leave. That is the most honest thing I can say about Xihe Academy. ”Guest house” is a label that does not prepare you for what this place actually is. If you are American and hearing that term for the first time, forget whatever image just came to mind. This is not a MIL suite tucked behind someone's garage. This is a fully realized, deeply considered experience wrapped inside one of the most stunning environments I have ever walked into. The courtyard alone stopped me mid-step. The surrounding area looks like an active film set -- you keep half-expecting to hear ”action” called from somewhere just off camera. And then you step inside and somehow it gets even better. I genuinely lost my words. The room is the kind of space where you realize someone has actually thought of everything. Included minibar. Fresh fruit and snacks. Loose-leaf tea so you can brew a proper cup. Bathrooms fully stocked down to the shower shoes. You can arrive with nothing but your clothes and be completely at ease. They have handled the rest. The staff made all of it feel personal. When a language barrier created a small miscommunication, they were patient and gracious without a flicker of frustration. When I joked that I had gone a little crazy shopping and could not close my suitcase, they immediately offered suggestions to help. That warmth is not a policy -- it lives in the people. They coordinate meals as well, and mine was delivered to my room and genuinely delicious. One thing I will say without hesitation: use their driver. This is a private, gated area and you cannot simply grab a random car or rideshare. Arrange your pickup from the train station or airport in advance -- it is seamless, affordable, and completely worth it. Do not skip this step. This was my first guesthouse experience, and Xihe Academy has set a bar I was not expecting to clear so soon. If you stay here, you will not regret it. Five stars is not enough.

Loved it!! Although we were only here 2 nights, this was one of our 2 favorite stays of our 2 weeks in China. We’re loved it here. This hotel was just what I was hoping for. Traditional courtyard hotel. It’s beautiful! We felt like we were in a movie. It was so relaxing. Both mornings I just relaxed on the swing in the courtyard and enjoyed the peace and the environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Helen was very nice and helped us with any questions we had. The room was clean and beautiful. I will say you need to be prepared for a very firm bed - but that’s the style and party of the experience, This was one of our favorite parts of our trip. If we’re fortunate enough to have the chance to come back, I will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend.

My experience staying at this hotel as below. 1. They provide pickup and drop off from the train station. The day before the Inn contacted me to make arrangement for the pickup. Then they arranged to drive me back to station on the day I leave. Service was efficient and prompt. Much appreciated. 2. I was able to use the washing machine to wash come clothes which was much needed. Comb and toiletries were provided. So grateful for these little necessities as I left mine at the previous hotel. 3. The boss upgraded me to a bigger and better room because it was the low season. The kang bed was so comfortable and firm. I had the best sleep so far at this Inn. I'm so happy. 4. The Inn is inside the old city and practically next to one of the city gates. Very convenient for sightseeing old Pingyao city. 5. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Boss also gave me a bottle of vinegar. Wish I could take it back to UK with me. 6. The price of this Inn is also very reasonable and affordable. 7. Pingyao is a beautiful, ancient old city. Worth coming. I highly recommend staying here.
