Hotel Der Waldhof

Four friends (two couples) stayed here. From the moment we arrived we were given a warm welcome. All the staff were great - friendly, efficient and very good at their job. Our room on the first night was at the front of the hotel and we were disturbed by traffic noise from the road. Next day we asked if we could be moved to a quieter room and were given another room in the annexe across the road. This is a fairly new part of the hotel, only finished at the end of 2023, and the room was superb - very quiet, modern, clean, spacious. The food is buffet style and different every night. There really is something for everyone. There were a couple of themed nights - a bbq night and Italian night. Breakfast was also good with a choice of hot and cold food . There was a good bar area with plenty of seating. Kristian who works behind the bar was excellent at his job. One evening there was entertainment with two guys playing guitars and singing. Wasn’t expecting anything great but they were very good and created a great atmosphere with people singing along and dancing. Overall we had a great stay and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Stayed at the Waldhof with a group of 10 March 2024. Outstanding hotel with great staff and fantastic food. Johannes needs to get a special mention who looked after all of us. Facilities are brilliant which includes gym and no less than 5 saunas, steam room outdoor and indoor pools. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

I have never been made to feel so unwelcome by hotel reception staff in my life (and this applied to every single one of them). Rude, rude, rude. They treated me like i was a burden. Not a single smile between them the whole time i was there. Stains on the seating in the bar area, and the bar staff never seemed to be around so you kept having to go and ask reception to find them. I had bugs in my room which i killed, but the final straw was when one crawled over me in bed. When i went to reception at 10pm in my pjs, holding tissues full of the dead insects, asking to change rooms, i never received a single apology or any sign of one - the man behind the reception said nothing and just handed me a new room key - so i was having to change rooms on two different floors at 10pm!. Pillows and bedlinen well past their best. No tea/coffee facilities in room, and no bathrobe (you had to hire one from reception for 8euros!) No on site massage facilities, apart from a 'dry' massage bed that was not satisfactory, and the jacuzzi corner of the main pool was not working. i was so upset and felt i had no alternative but to leave and check out early. Disgraceful when you have saved for a very long time for a 'bucket list' holiday, only to have it ruined by such a poor hotel venue.

Fantastic hotel and staff are brilliant! Especially Chris who went above and beyond for us. Chris invited us on a hike which was absolutely beautiful! When we got to the hut at the top, lunch had been prepared for us by the hotel! Just amazing and a brilliant holiday experience and stay. Thank you very much 😃

A friendly relaxing hotel, all the staff are excellent and the food tasty. The quality of the interior design and real attention to detail is amazing, colours and textures reflecting the outside landscape. Large room. Very warm outside pool! Lovely choice of saunas, powerful water jets in indoor pool, comfy beds. Oh, and at breakfast a bag provided to make your own lunch nibbles.

THE LONG, DETAILED VERSION*: *probably don’t read this if you like to discover things for yourself! :) This place warrants 5 star - from the warm welcome to checking out. Thank you all for making our stay memorable and relaxing. STAFF: Thomas welcomed us and we had a very good first impression. Everything was well explained to us. He had perfect English (as do all the team throughout) and a great sense of humour. Shout out to Monika also, who was there throughout our stay offering friendly service with a smile. The restaurant and kitchen staff all had great personalites and were attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The team have been well selected and trained. SPA: I enjoyed the spa facilities while the other half went off hiking. Note - the adult spa area is traditional Austrian, let’s just say, you won't need your swimming costune for this section. I advise bringing your robe for walking about it, thought the towels are generous in size. There is a separate sauna you can request, across the private courtyard contained within the spa. There are plenty of loungers and showers. The indoor swimming pool is separate, in the family section. This was a bit of a shame, as you couldn't swim in the adult area. I can see why they are seperate logistically though. The hotel had lots of children there, which was lovely to see and they were all very well behaved. Without sounding like a misery guts (!) a peaceful adult swim wasnt possible, as the only quiet times were during dinner. Great for families though. FOOD: We ate in a lovely, private, booth. We enjoyed the food, which is typical of our previous holidays in Austria. This invloved a good selction of meats, usually two potato options and generally one vegetable side (sometimes mixed vegetables). Personally, we would have preferred two vegeatble sides. The pork fillet and local beef were especially good, melt in the mouth - the only problem was they were on the same night and were too full for a second helping! Breakfast was excellent. It was the same each day, but an extensive choice so that suited us. A choice of filter coffee or a selection from the machine. We did find the fresh juices were soemtimes a bit watery, but they were from a machine, so maybe it was putting too much water through at the start of the shot? The meats and cheeses were excellent quality. There was a variety of breads (to be honest, the white rolls were sometimes a little dry, which sadly meant a bit of waste, but you could go back a choose a different one/different bread, as the stock was replenished regularly. The best part for us was the provision to also make up a packed lunch each day, a rarity. You put it in a paper bag, which is provided. You also have the option of a hot lunch in the hotel, let reception know by 10am so they can determine numbers. It’s lovely to enjoy lunc

Friendly, hardworking staff. A great atmosphere. Our room was amazing and beautifully cleaned. Lovely food and drink, fabulous pools/saunas and a great location. We couldn't have asked for more. Outstanding natural beauty in the surrounding area. A wonderful stay and we will be back one day to see the new kids area!

We decided to go somewhere a little different for our family summer holiday this year and ended up going to Zell Am See in Austria. The Waldof was the hotel we picked and it was absolutely fabulous! It is a family run hotel and all the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a good size outdoor pool as well as a fantastic new inside pool and sauna. The food at the hotel was excellent and the cleanliness was spotless at all times whilst we were there. It is a 10 minute walk into town and down to the lake (a reasonably steep hill), but you also get free public transport with your stay, so you can get a bus as well. There are lots of things to do around Zell Am See and Austria, so even on the days we didn’t have great weather, we had so much fun on trips. We would definitely like to come back in the winter to see everything in the snow!

We have just enjoyed a fantastic week at the Wardhof hotel. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked with lots of choice. Our room was very clean and looked after very well during our stay. Special thanks to Erno who was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Reception was run very efficiently.
