I love this hotel, much better now it’s been refurbished as the previous decor was way out of date. Nothing too much trouble - more buiscuits, more pillows, I asked and they were delivered immediately. A massive thank you to Margo for arranging my 2 night stay, so good I stayed an extra night thinking I’d have to change rooms but they said stay put which was great. Look forward to staying here again and working with Margo in the future.

We have just returned after a 2 night stay. As some of the first guests to use this site we were impressed with the set up. We had electric hook up. There was spotless toilets and showers in the main stable blocks . Loads of hot water and pot washing facilities outside. There was a communal room where large screen TVs and breakfast was available to purchase in the mornings. Everything from fresh fruit , cereal , or the full English. We were well looked after by the team there and nothing seemed a problem for them. Very warm and welcoming. Plenty of refuse bins available and a warden who made regular walk rounds. It’s about a 5 min taxi ride to the centre of York but just outside the gate there is a Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop and two decent pubs. A local shop is a couple of hundred yards down the road. They also have rooms to rent which seemed very reasonably priced and again spotlessly clean. We stayed with family in 3 tents and we all agree we would not hesitate to go back. Well worth a visit if your exploring York and the surrounding area. Thank you for a great weekend . Visited this guest house for two nights with a mate. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience. The welcome from Danielle was very friendly and she is an excellent host. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy with good amounts of storage, tea, coffee and biscuits. There is a large private car park to the rear which is not visible from the road, so this aids security and gives peace of mind, particularly if on a high end motorcycle. (or any vehicle for that matter!) The full English breakfast was great. Tasty, hot, and with a good selection of ”add ons”, Fried bread, black pudding etc. Particularly welcome after a night on the town! Highly recommended, I will return!

The Grand Hotel boasts an excellent location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. The facilities are top-notch, offering a blend of luxury and comfort that one would expect from a prestigious establishment. However, the service fell short of expectations, especially considering its five-star rating. While it may be due to the busy tourist season, the level of service provided was inconsistent. In particular, the doormen and porters left a lot to be desired, with some interactions being notably poor. This detracted significantly from the overall experience, as such issues are not expected at a hotel of this caliber. Overall, while the hotel's amenities and location are commendable, the service quality needs improvement to truly match the standards of a five-star hotel.
