Shibu Onsen KOKUYA
4.6/537 avaliações
From the moment you enter Kokuya Ryokan, be prepared to leave the real world behind and fully immerse yourself in the experience. You swap your shoes for slippers at the door and don’t see them again until you leave. You will receive a warm welcome from polite and gentle-mannered staff, get taken up to your beautiful room, and once you’ve changed into your traditional yukata, it’s time to let the relaxation begin. The multi-course dinner will probably be one of the best meals you’ve had in your life, with many unusual textures and flavors to try. The futons are comfortable, and your room is kept toasty warm. There are even skincare products to keep you pampered and moisturized between soaks in the onsen. Honestly, you won’t even need to open your suitcase while you’re there. The staff will take you through all the logistics when you arrive, but there are some things that might be useful to know in advance. - The ryokan sends a shuttle to Yudanaka station at about 15:00 to collect new arrivals, so time your journey to take advantage of this benefit. - The ryokan also offers guests the opportunity to catch a shuttle to the Snow Monkey Park immediately after breakfast the next morning. - After you leave the ryokan, they will take your luggage down to the coffee shop opposite the station, so you don’t need to worry about those logistics. - Trains from Yudanaka back to Nagano leave at 12:30 and 15:30. - The ryokan itself has several private onsens that you can reserve for a 45-minute slot. Because the onsens are on the property, you can go in with your partner or travel companions regardless of gender. It’s a boutique hotel, so you don’t have to worry about not getting access to all the onsens you want. - The ryokan is on the main road of the Shibu Onsen town. The hotel will give you a key so you can wonder down the main road, visiting any of the public onsens you wish - however, with so many gorgeous and more private onsens in the hotel itself, you probably won’t have time or the desire for this. - Also, there is a coffee machine in the room! (I was worried about having to survive without coffee, and this turned out to be an unfounded concern). We had an incredible and totally indulgent time at Kokuya. Experiencing a traditional ryokan is a privilege that you should try at least once if you can. And adding the Snow Monkeys in give the trip a double purpose, making it that much more memorable. The only thing that would have made the trip better is if we had been allowed to linger longer over every course of our dinner.

⭐Geographical location: Yudanaka Hot Spring is relatively close to Jigokudani Monuen, a 20-minute walk from the station. It should be noted that you can pick up the station before 5 pm. We arrived at 5:30, but the boss said we could not pick up. Although the distance is not long, it still takes a while to walk on the mountain road. You can also take a bus, which runs every half an hour. ⭐Service: There are two shopkeepers serving you, and their attitude is very good. They will help you deliver your luggage to the coffee shop next to the station when you travel the next day. It should be noted that if you check in after 3 pm, you will not be able to make calls in the morning. I left something in the room. No one answered the phone after three calls. In the end, I had to go to the store to get it again. ⭐Facilities: The room layout is relatively simple and the facilities are relatively simple. To be honest, the heating is relatively small and it is a bit cold at night. There is no shower room and toilet, and the sink only has cold water. Shower rooms and hot springs need to be charged separately, 500 yen. Public toilets (all small Japanese-style hotels are like this) are very clean, because there are few rooms and few guests, and you have never touched anyone else in the toilet. Anyway, the price/performance ratio is pretty good. ⭐Meals: Our order included dinner and breakfast, but the portions were small and not enough to fill us up. When we got out of the station, we had to remember to buy some food from Lawson. There are no convenience stores in the hot spring street! Mineral water is not provided, and there is an additional charge of +100yen. ⭐Hot spring: You can soak in 9 soups on the street, but there is only one key, so you have to go there separately. The private soup shop in the store is in B1. It is relatively simple, has a lot of moisture, and is not very clean. It is recommended to go to the public soup house. Although the boss said that there is no place to take a bath in the public bath, so you can only buy a private bath + shower, which is a bit embarrassing.
Chalet Shiga

I've just spent 8 nights ( off peak) at Chalet Shiga for spring skiing. I stayed there mainly because it was one of the few hotels that got back to me regarding my pre booking questions. The location is great. Right opposite the Inchinose ski fields ( you have a 2 min walk across the road to a chair lift) and the free shuttle stops right outside. It's very quiet at night but the heater does make loud clanging sounds from time to time and is difficult to turn on and off. The Western style beds are very cmfortable and loved the duvets and pillows. Toilet and hand basin in the room was appreciated and there are shelves for your clothes. You are also given a dressing gown and slippers for the onsen, also toothbrush. Fresh towels and gown supplied every 2nd day. The WiFi is fine in the lobby but useless in the rooms. The main restaurant has amazing food but you need to book well in advance especially weekends and you have ti eat at 6pm. No preference is given to in-house guests nor was it clear that reservations are required when booking. The Monday I was here I was told the 2 hotel restaurant and bar were closed so I had to go searching for somewhere else to eat ( could only find 1 other place that would take me, the other hotels wouldn't as they only take their own guests and there's practically nothing else open late March). I returned to find the main restaurant was in fact open but not the Tappo Bar ( casual beer place with snacks). I'll put this misunderstanding down to a language issue ( reception staff speak very little English). As the main restaurant was often booked out I had to make do with evening snacks in the Tappo Bar ( again strict seating hours 5 to 7pm and 8 to 9pm. You must also book) The bathing pool ( not an onsen but alkaline water) was very pleasant but floor needs frequent mopping as it was often very wet and slippery. Be aware you can't use the shower there until late in the afternoon due to cleaning. On my checkout day, I needed a morning shower as I had a long journey home. Despite no one actually cleaning the area at 8.30am there was no way they'd let me in. Instead they pointed to the ' rules' stating the onsen hours. There is a Delonghi coffee machine and tea in the lobby to use during your stay but don't expect to be able to have free use of this when you check out and are waiting for your taxi as they will charge you which is a bit rich especially given I'd just spent 8 nights here. Also don't bother requesting a late check, even when the hotel isn't full, out as it's not going to happen! The Ski locker area is good but there isn't a drying room so I had to take my boots and jacket to my room each night. There is a waxing and hire service which looks good. In summary, this is a good hotel but staff and procedures need to be more flexible and focus on customer service to attract international clientele especially as Shiga Kogan is now being sold more and more as an international ski destination.
T Hotel Ryuoo

The hotel send me email few days before I check in. Mainly is to help for arrange transportation (using their shuttle) from JR workstation to the hotel. I've joined snowboard training in Ryuoo ski park. Hotel staff also helped me contacted training school for the details. This is really a great experience which I haven't had before. Highly recommend this hotel to you if you have chance to visit her.
Shimaya

The accommodation was amazing value for money. The futons were very comfy with the pillows were soft. There are three indoor hot springs you can use: one private, one public for men and another public for women. The onsen was refreshing and you can easily adjust the temperature. The host, Mr. Yumoto was extremely helpful and kind. He also fetched us for free to the snow monkey park. Definitely worth a stay if you want the quality ryokan experience at a budget.
Shibu Hotel
4.7/542 avaliações
I recently stayed at Shibu Hotel in Yamanochi, Nagano, and it exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent, with a very helpful English-speaking staff. The complementary drinks in the room fridge and lobby were a nice touch. The rooms were clean and spacious, perfect for oversized luggages The free shuttle to the snow monkey park and Yamaneda Train Station was convenient. Access to public onsens added to the overall experience. They also provide a Yukata that you can use. Just a tip: book in-house meals in advance to avoid missing out as they tend to fill up quickly. Overall a highly recommended stay.
