Herdshill Guest House

Scott gave us a really lovely welcome. Explained everything clearly and gave us fresh milk for our room. He even booked us into a nearby restaurant. The room was fine although I could have done with a bedside table and some hooks. Our breakfast was good with the usual serve yourself selection and a cooked breakfast. Very good value.

Arrived at guest house early as we were attending a wedding elsewhere, the owner was very helpful in receiving us early and arranging for a taxi to take us to the wedding. The Guest house rooms were quite nice and very cleaning well equipped, excellent walk in shower. The breakfast the following morning was very good..

Herdshill can perfectly be described as your home away from home. The warmth of our host Scott, his son and dog were a perfect package. All were extremely hospitable and attentive attending to our needs. Herdshill is a home from the late 1800’s and though it shows it’s wear, it also shows it’s history and the love that has passed through the walls. The home was clean, the beds were comfy with crisp white sheets and we each had our own bathroom which was a bonus. We also loved playing games and having tea in the lounge in the evening. If you have a problem with stairs as there a lot of them and they are steep, be sure to request a downstairs room upon booking. Scott is a wonderful cook and his custom homemade breakfast was a great way to start the day. Thank you Scott & family for a wonderful visit!

This is a fabulous place to stay, we booked it last minute due to being badly let down by somewhere else. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The host Scott was very friendly and cooked a fantastic Scottish breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Everything from start to finish was just amazing, Scott was so accommodating, I called to see if I could book a family room for me, my partner, my 5 year old and 7 month old.. Scott was worried that the travel cot wouldn’t of fit in the room but it wasn’t a problem at all, I knew from previous reviews that Scott was an amazing host so I understood that he didn’t want to tell me “yes it’s fine” if it wouldn’t be. We arrived around 4.30 and he took us around the place to show us where the dining room and everything was. The room was perfect and beds were extremely comfortable, we was placed in room 3 which was at the front of the property on the main road and it was extremely quiet considering. It was tidy and just very very homely, the breakfast was amazing and the girls there were very formerly and polite! We checked out and got introduced to Scott’s dog, he was perfect, just such a lovely place and will 100% be staying again as we have family close.

Scott and his staff are lovely nothing is too much for them. Breakfast was great and had everything you could want, fresh fruit juice, cereals, yogurts, fruit and full cooked breakfast with toast No noise at night so slept really well. Well located for travelling to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling or many of the local towns. Herdshill will now be my go to place every time I am visiting the area, Thank you Scott for your warm and friendly welcome.
