Antechamber Bay Retreats

We had 9 perfect nights a Shylie's , a one bedroom house ,perfect for a couple. Well appointed , clean and comfortable and with unbelievable views of Backstairs Passage across to mainland SA. We fished off the rocks below the house , there were walking trails everywhere. We saw 39 different species of birds on our trip , including 15 from the deck of our accommodation ! Highlight species : Glossy Black Cockatoo ( red tailed ) , Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo , Eastern Spinebill , Red Browed Finch , Weebills , Hooded Plover ( on the beach below ) , Superb Fairy Wren to name just a few. A bird and nature lovers paradise in a secluded and beautiful location , we are booking again soon !!

On this second time at Kangaroo Island, we this time were lucky to book Nat*s for the third week of February. What a place, what a view, what a beach, what an animal life both on land (Kangaroos and birds) and in the sea (Dolphins, a whale, squids, varirty of fish). Comming all the way from Oslo/Sandefjord - Norway, we knew the beauty of the Island - but Nat*s was a real treat formy partner and me for the whole week, then accompanied by daughter/son-in-law, and three grandchrildren, four and 7 years of age, and their Aussi grandfather We'll be back !!

Speechless. Beautiful place. Beautiful home. Loved the surroundings and definitely the fireplace. Do note that the road leading into the property is unsealed and can be rather muddy on a rainy day. Can be rather challenging if you plan to enter with a small 2wd car. We spent some time doing the walking trails and trek here. Amazing treks and really felt that we are the only people here in Kangaroo Island besides the sheep of course! Wifi were good, Netflix is a big welcome, great kitchen appliances, laundry washer is a welcome and warm comfortable beds

We had 5 nights in Nat's Retreat & thoroughly enjoyed our stay even with a slight disruption of a power outage on the first night - the open fire kept us warm & a generator gave us some lighting. The staff worked hard with the power company to have power restored the following day. It is a National Trust listed house & so certain aspects of the house can not be changed & you need to be aware that you have to go outside (under an awning) to go from the lounge, dining & kitchen area of the house to the main 3 bedrooms & bathroom - just need to keep your shoes on & a jacket nearby. The view is stunning over the Bay particularly at sunrise & sunset. The birdlife abounds - watching a pair of sea eagles soar overhead was a delight. Then you are greeted by the sheep on a regular basis. The drive into the house from the road can be a bit bumpy after rain but it is achievable, just take it slow & allow some extra time if you need to make your way to a booking such as seeing the sea lions. It was handy to have the use of a washing machine when staying a number of days.

The views are spectacular. A winding country road through a paddock past a mob of sheep leads to this haven of peace. Private beach is down the hill past the rambling fig. The air filled with the twitter of fairy wrens. The beds are comfy and the kitchen well stocked with Nespresso machine, dishwasher and things you would expect in a kitchen. National trust home with a historic room and piano. Lovely new bathrooms and soft towels. Wifi and Netflix and the clearest skies to see the Milky Way. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on our arrival. Lovely touch. Thanks Kate!

Kate and Andy Just wanted to say how wonderful Kona is with all its attention to user friendly detail and comfort has us in awe. Thoroughly enjoying this fabulous experience. Thank you so much , 100% enjoyed our stay.

I gave an excellent rating because Nat's place was an immersive and important historic place to stay. Facilities provided were very good but don't expect perfect resort style as Nat's place is far more of an experience aligned with the countries landscape and seascape combined with birds and kangaroos plus the odd sheep. We completely felt relaxed and at home in a tranquil space with magnificent views, comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Kitchen was well provisioned and pantry items were generous. Its the perfect escape from the humdrum of city life to allow relaxation and restoration of self. Thanks Kate and Andy for sharing such a magnificent location.

My wife and I just spent a wonderful week in The Kona. Antechamber Bay Retreats is the perfect place for those looking to get away from it all in total comfort with all the modern conveniences you could ask for - including 3,500 acres of beautiful farm land and two - repeat two - private beaches within walking distance of the Kona's deck overlooking the ocean. Nat's house was fabulous - stunning views & fun to have the sheep wander around. We had another family staying at Kona which worked really well. Nat's house sleeps 8 and Kona sleeps 6 plenty of space. Dudley winery is just 10min drive away definitely worth a visit. Had a lovely time and can't wait to come back
