Lumber Jack Lodge, Ascend Hotel Collection

We've stayed here in the past and it's been fine, but they're under renovation right now and there is NO way the hotel should even be open while they attempt this. Our room was on the other side of the building, and as there is currently no lobby, that meant driving to a side entrance, which wouldn't be the end of the earth, but if you want ice or something and you're on the first floor, you have to either go outside and around the building OR take the stairs to the second floor and cross a hallway to the ice machine there--unless, of course, they're away said ice machine, in which case you're back to going around to the other side of the building. Mind you, the staff either doesn't know about this little bit of trickery to get from one side of the building to another, or they don't think it's important enough to tell guests. And if you need an elevator, forget it. Unless, of course, you magically discover one on your own as a friend of ours did. The rooms have been updated since we stayed there last (in 2020, right before the world shut down), so the knotty pine is gone and it looks like any other chain hotel now, EXCEPT, strangely, it has no coffeemaker or microwave. Now, about the Lumberjack, the attached restaurant where we've dined in the past. As seems fitting at this location, you can't get there without going outside and walking a bit because of the construction, but after they served me raw cod and claimed it was fully cooked, I won't be eating there again for the simple fact that they clearly know nothing about food safety. And in retrospect, I suppose the food and beverage credit that were included in our room fee, but never given to us was a blessing in disguise.

Oh my wife and I have been by this area and are golfers and wanted to play either the nightmare or the dream so we booked this motel even though it was fairly high price from what it was no breakfast the restaurant attached was not open also being remodeled so I don’t know if this is going to continue to be a call TN or switch brands or what’s going to happen but for $138 out the door it was kind of a little high in my opinion. I called on the phone and talk to gentleman named Clay and he gave us. I think an upgraded room or remodeled room even though the bathroom still does not have a fan it is still barely 7 foot tall at the most ceiling But the shower stalls kind of a new deal the door doesn’t close. It’s just a half a door kind of odd but I guess it works pretty good and the beds were only double beds not queens but the mattresses were nice. I don’t know why, but they always seem to put families above us with kids running around. We did have to make a call for the front desk, but they want done make a noise till about, I don’t know 10 o’clock or so I don’t know why they don’t just put the old people that won’t quiet away from everybody. We did not use the sign for the room for the closing is absolutely huge they could actually fit probably too cool, so Scott three we did not go in the hot tub either Anyway I would consider staying there again I guess but I think 138 at the door for just two double beds on the ground floor there’s all the money for an average quality and I guess it’s slightly above average so thanks Clay

To begin, the place is undergoing heavy remodeling in advance of changing it's name, and the rooms appear nicer and freshly updated. But that is about all of the positive aspects. Rooms will no longer have dressers, to store clothing and the "closet" area to hang items, is barely 3 feet wide. Showers have only a partial glass wall, so overspray/ runoff will likely keep the floor and toilets cleaner, reducing the amount of housekeeping needed. Tv pixeled out for most of the night, indicating low internet speed or slow tv refresh rates. Perhaps the tv will be better closer to 4 am when fewer guests are likely to be using theirs. I have stayed here a number of times in past years, but if you only need to be here for 1-2 nights, you can live out of your suitcase/ travel bag. Otherwise, search for another establishment.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was clean , modern and comfortable. The hot tub and pool were delightful ! Staff was delightful and helpful Will return ! Highly recommend!! All areas were awesome !’

As others have mentioned, the hotel has a strong lumberjack theme. Our room was nice, clean and had comfortable beds. Breakfast in the restaurant was standard fare of eggs, etc. and reasonably priced. The one downside is that there is no elevator. After checkin, I was surprised that we had to carry luggage up a flight of stairs.

Ok my first impression was like “What?!” The Lobby was a lot to take in, but wow- the owners put so much effort into the lumberjack theme! Very interesting things to see and read about the local history. Many old photos, I wish there had dates on them. Many antique tools and items on display! There was custom made iron decor with elk, light fixtures and lamps! We had a balcony over the interior courtyard which housed a large pool. There was a strong smell of chlorine in there, could have used some ventilation. Also had a pool table. I enjoyed hearing the kids having fun. I was disappointed there was no breakfast included, but we did receive a 25% off coupon for the attached restaurant. There was a great store in the property too. Reminded me of the kind you find at campgrounds. A great variety of things for sale! Bed was comfy, water and towels were soft, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron and hairdryer all in room.
